Findmypast, 185 Fleet Street, EC4A 2HS, London, GB
Findmypast is a homegrown family history company that helps people discover their origins. It started in the UK but now has millions of customers around the world, who use its family records to trace ancestors, build family trees and contact distant relatives.
Ancestors were found very quickly.
I am extremely fond of using the 1921 sensus and 1939 register. A mine of information when appropriate. All the sites are well laid out. I would find it helpful if on the other searches, BMD's etc, notice was taken of all the information I input.
It is a good site. It isn't as easy to use as it seems. I find it a little confusing, but I am sure I will get used to it.
The experience was positive; however, the site can be hard to navigate at times. It would be beneficial if users could download the entire tree, although this may not be practical due to the amount of data involved. A better way to download and save information would be appreciated. Also, once the subscription is stopped due to the completion of the tree, it would be good if the information remains available.
I found a missing link in my fathers history but I am still searching for Artwel Lot Hughes and his wife he is in the 1921 census but then disappears he was only 21
Doesn't give you enough to go on
Tricky to delete persons on the family tree.
Very hard to use
I’ve been with Findmypast for a couple of years. I was reluctant to upload my family tree on sites as I have done extensive work and have the paperwork to prove it. No guessing. So I chose FMP over the other sites to upload my work, I trust them and will continue. Their site is easy to navigate.
It’s not that easy to add people to my tree, I have several attached in the wrong places and can’t seem to work out how to move them. I’m paying a subscription but am still getting messages like your subscription doesn’t cover this!
The initial contact from the Findmypast on-line ad indicated a free period to become familiar with its service. After I signed up for the free period, it became clear that there was nothing free! In order to actually determine if Findmypast could provide the promised service, I would need to pay an exorbitant fee for one trial search. I then attempted to cancel my trial period, but I received no confirmation that that the cancelation was processed and I am continuing to get communications from Findmypast asking whether I like their service. I state emphatically that I do not like my experience with Findmypast!
Search engines ok, the most useful categories for my personal journey has been the newspaper and overseas index searches.
Such a brilliant app to discover your past. So easy to navigate. Lots and lots of help and handy tips.Would I recommend..Definitely
I have been a member with other Genealogy sites but find this one easy to negotiate and it seems to share more details than some at a fraction of the cost.
Thank you , I want to cancel my subscription please.
Poorly designed and clunky website, not intuitive at all. Kicking myself that I didn't avail myself of the 7 day free trial before committing to a 3 month subscription (went straight to subcription as the 7 day trial was not available with the better value quarterly subscription option and I mistakenly assumed the site was as good as Ancestry.com) . I decided after day 2 that I will not be renewing and advised customer service to turn off the auto-renew as I will be switching back to Ancestry.com.
Brilliant site to be on iv got lots to do im so looking forward to this
The options available in your search have enabled me to progress my One-Name Study in leaps and bounds.
I'm still very new to find my past site, so still learning to navigate around how things work and how to add or dismiss information.
