Findmypast is a homegrown family history company that helps people discover their origins. It started in the UK but now has millions of customers around the world, who use its family records to trace ancestors, build family trees and contact distant relatives.
Good experience overall so far with findmypast. Seems a little more expensive than other family history sites. Would say this is a deterrent for many.
New to the site having conducted my family history research MANY years ago but interested to see what else it might uncover. Great to see so much fit into place & so rapidly. Love the Hints too! The website is very easy to use, intuitive & relatively easy to navigate. I have the app too, but I'm not liking that quite so much. The only problem for me is the cost! It's way OTT. I'd love to subscribe... but simply CANNOT justify the money. Being retired I'm currently having to justify every £ with this economic squeeze atm. Maybe if FindmyPast did an offer or a reduced rate I might be tempted.

I am trying to build a family tree including my fathers family. What do I need to do to access Scotlands records. I am clearly in the wrong place and need your guidance. Where do I need to register for Scottish records please

Hints that take you no where . A waste of time.
The best my tree is growing and I have found relatives I never knew existed. I’ve just lost a cousin I knew nothing off . But can now search for others with his name . Try it you won’t regret it .

Ease of use by a beginner
I am new to Find My Past. The information available is wonderful but I find navigating around the site quite difficult. But then I am a beginner I suppose.
Great site, Fairly intuitive and easy to use once you get the hang of it. Have managed to trace some family back to 1704....so far.
