Findmypast, 185 Fleet Street, EC4A 2HS, London, GB
Findmypast is a homegrown family history company that helps people discover their origins. It started in the UK but now has millions of customers around the world, who use its family records to trace ancestors, build family trees and contact distant relatives.
App works pretty much as advertised, although it's early days. Support is quick and responsive.
I know it costs more than other sites but it has helped me recently to find information regarding some ancestors. I have now been able to start my family tree. But I would like to know how to print it when done so I can share with relatives.
I enjoy the fact that for 1 price I get everything that is additional on other sites, however the search is hit and miss, when I add hint it adds new people to my tree same name and birth year. When searching a female it asks for the maiden, once the husband of added her surname changes, when searching a maiden name with a spouse name, it shows everyone with the spouses name, makes things very confusing and complicated. I have resigned myself to searching on another family search engine then looking paper clippings and 1921 census on Find my past, this is all so expensive.
Very easy to use
I am finding it hard to negotiate this site. It is expensive, I had hoped to access the 1921 census but a told this is not available with my current subscription. My email to the site is not being delivered so I am stuck! Can’t upgrade or get out!
Really good and helpful ,a bit of a shame it doesn't have records for more countries but overall good thank you.
They are putting forward choice and giving me the choice so that I am positive it is the right person with my own personal knowledge.
I have used this site for so many years. and found out lots of information about my family, one of the best sites used.
Very useful and resourceful experience
Need to have a free few days to take advantage of a free trial
Too hard to navigate. Wanted to seek info on my grand mother's family only but it kept wanting to fill in other branches.
Amazing! Absolutely brilliant!
The company did find some items l didn’t know, but l did join to try and find facts about my Grandfather who l know hardly anything about , but unfortunately they haven’t been able to help
Having trouble logging in, I keep getting offered a 7 day trial when I have 12 months membership
Very difficult to navigate / use I would like to join but to pay and find it hard work is not on
I did something wrong when cancelling a trial. Findmypast sorted it out very quickly and politely. I plan on subscribing to Findmypast after my subscription to another genealogy site expires. I find Findmypast to be a user-friendly site with a user-friendly staff.
Much less user friendly than I assumed. The records are basic, in other words even when they return multiple people in the same address via a census, none of those link to other iterations of the same person. Each search is individual therefore. The Family Tree system does this, so basically you are doing for yourself something the database should have done.
I am thankful to have made contact with a UK gen organization with whom I can share reciprocal information/ However, thus far, I have not received any useful info. The gen info for my family that I received so far does not correspond to the time frame of my UK family. I shared that info with your organization. Also, I arranged for staff in your organization to visit my gen UK- & US-based gen family tree; but so far have not received any response on if staff have visited the Ancestry link to my UK family info. So I am still waiting for some meaningful contact & UK-based info from this organization. Finally, I have offered to provide US-based gen info to your organization for UK families that relocated to the US.
An excellent database of sources and useable family tree with plenty of hints.
