I've never had such a bad experience purchasing a product online. The product came with a broken lateral. They then wanted me to send the WHOLE unit back. Luckily my pool guys were able to find a new one and saved the day. But wait, they take the plastic off the base of the unit and there's a HUGE crack in the filter. So, I call on Monday and they say they are going to send a replacement back. By Wednesday, it still says label created in Fedex. So, I call again and the foreigner that I speak too says they will send another replacement out. Never got an email with tracking. I'm thinking there is no way they could not send it twice so I wait till Friday and nothing comes. I then call again and finally get a customer service agent in the US. She was somewhat sympathetic and nice. She then sends out another replacement, calls me back with the tracking number, and I receive a new tracking number in my email. This is Friday. All weekend the tracking still says label created. Now I'm really starting to get pissed. My pool is turning green and we can't use it in the middle of summer. So, I called her again yesterday and she apologized and gave some excuse. They then say they are sending out another replacement and send me the tracking number. ONCE AGAIN, it still says label created almost 24 hours later. I will NEVER shop with this company again. I now have to order from Leslies and then when I get that box (because the other one was thrown out) and return this defective product. If you go and read their BBB reviews (which I should have done first), you would never shop with this company again either.
We've been using Doheny's for our pool products at Marina Village for a couple of years now, and we're so glad we made the switch! Recently, there was an issue with one of our orders. I called and spoke with a customer care representative who was unable to assist me directly but quickly transferred me to someone who could help. That amazing person was Veronica Foster. Ms. Foster swiftly reviewed everything, developed a game plan, and executed a new order for me—all while we were still on the phone. Customer service like this is hard to come by, and I'm grateful for the competent staff over at Doheny's! Their pricing always seems to beat the competitors, and with customer service like Veronica's, Doheny's is truly a standout. Thank you again, Veronica, for taking excellent care of your customers! Joanna Karis is an outstanding asset to Doheny. She took time to hear my concerns and offered great suggestions from measuring my pool accurately to ordering the perfect liner, trim, gaskets and step kit. She was very patient as I must have called and emailed her at least 10 times and she was always helpful and friendly. She gave me the reassurance I could DIY my liner and do it better than the local vinyl liner installer and I saved a ton of money and have the satisfaction of doing it myself. A positive experience all starting with Doheny and Joanna Karis. So glad Doheny made the liners available for purchase and great specialists (Joanna) to answer stressful questions. I'm so happy with the results. I would tell anyone needing to replace liner to call Doheny ask for Joanna and do it themselves.
I would give them a -10 if possible I ordered 50# chlorine 3 in one 3" tabs. Over 30 of them are broken and crumbled. Can not use this in my pool! The same thing happened last summer but I put up with it. Now, a year later the Same problem with No damage to the shipping box or the bucket. I see reviews now where many others have the same issues. Thhe "customer service" or lack of rep told me they could Not offer a refund but would send me a return shipping label and once they recieve the product they would send anothe 50# bucket. So I ask what if I have the same issue and she told me they would send another replacement then also. I ask for a return label and refund. No, we can not do that. So If I wanted to be dishonest and not honorable, I could do this several times to make them pay a Lot of $ for shipping cost. However, I am Not like that. So Now they have lost another customer. When I ask to speak to a manager I was told by the rep Not a manager that this is all they are willing to do. So now I have to lift this 50# bucket up again and take it almost 20 miles to send it back. I had Massive spinal surgery a few months ago and not to lift over 15 #s. Thanks a lot Doheny's because my wife can not lift this. Beware of this co. I Never buy from them again. When I told the rep I was doing this review, I was informed ok do what you must instead of how can we make this right. You know, in all my time working for customers as a carpenter/builder/plumber/electrician, I always gave them a written promise that within 90 days if anything
These guys stated that my order would be delivered on the 4th. It is the 5th at 5 PM and they claim it will be delivered today. They are very unreliable and over charge for shipping. Don't use them.
Deceptive shipping information. Charges for and shows shipping FedEx, with 3-4 day delivery, then actually ships usps with 8 to 10 day delivery.
Never delivered or even commit to a delivery date. Charged my credit card without shipping. It was a hard charge, not a holding of funds.
I purchased a Hayward Wanda the Whale cleaner for my above ground new pool . I received it on June 15 . We tried to use it on June 18 . It went about 3 feet forward and stopped moving. I called Doheny on June 19 . I was told that a fed ex return label was being emailed to me . I have repeatedly checked my emails and in the junk. Here it is June the 22 . I have received nothing . I was willing to send it back and try a new one . At this point I just want my money back. You can rest assured I will not purchase anything else from this company!!! Not Ever !
We ordered a pump at the end of the season 2023 after our pump died. We received in October 2023 and put it on the shelf as the season was over. In June 2024 we took it out of the box and set it up. It would not fire out of the box. I then ordered ordered another pump from them so our pool would stop turning green. After receiving new hayward pump instead of doheny they would not take back the defective doheny one back because we did it in the wrong order. Who would have thought a brand new pump would come defective. Avoid this company!!!!
I would rate it no stars if I could. Worst customer service I’ve ever had. I ordered Zeron paint for a pool, they sent me the wrong item. Fine, people make mistakes, I get it. I called their customer service and had it corrected and immediately shipped back the item they sent me in error instead of the paint. They didn’t ship my paint. I called 2 days later and couldn’t get an answer. 3 days later I find they hadn’t shipped the right item yet. No urgency about getting me what I need, no compensation, would not overnight to correct the mistake. Even as I write this I’m still not sure they shipped it. Keep in mind this isn’t normal paint, this is 144 dollar per gallon paint. Use any other company besides this. They will take your money but they don’t care about getting you what you need.
If I could give them zero stars or a negative number, it would be far more appropriate. Ordered a replacement for our old winter cover from them. Without full dimensions, they asked us to send them our original to be used as a template. We did, and after months of inaction and large numbers of calls and emails, we finally got the new cover. Except it was the wrong one! Our pool is rectangular with a side bump out for the steps, and they sent us a kidney shaped cover that wasn't remotely the correct material. Not only would they not acknowledge or correct the mistake, they refused to refund our money. Had to get the Better Business Bureau involved to get our money back, but had no winter cover. Pathetic customer service, incredibly bad people do deal with. Will never use them for anything again.
The main O ring was not sealing. I spoke to a CSR who did not speak very good English and she basically had no idea what I needed. After she consulted with someone else she told me she could give me the part # which was not correct. To top this all off I finally located the O ring on your site with the part # that I located after searching the web. That was when the insult hit me, $9.99 for the O ring and then a totally absurd shipping fee of $9.99 + tx. This is your filter unit and the O ring started dripping 6 months ago I was more than happy to pay the $9.99 but the shipping told me to just find it elsewhere. We have dealt with Doheny's as needed for several years now. Rest assured, it'll never happen again.
the company sold me in pool loungers costing 2 thousand dollars they were ordered april 29th on may 5th i recived an update that the product was now backordered. !rst let me tell you if they had stated this upfront i never would have ordered the product. The new shipment date was may 15th after that email i never recived any communication fomr the company i called in and they assured me it would be shipped may 29th however that never happened. I called in june 17t to cancel because there was still no communication and now they are refusing to give me my money back stating the item is no longer backordered however they do not know when the item will ship and it will most likely be 30 to 45 days. this is unacceptable return my money. 30 to 45 days to ship is still back ordered.
Zero stars. I placed an order for 2 items on May 4 2024. Tracking it on FedEx on the 12th, I discovered it was damaged in transit and was being returned to Doheny’s. Not hearing from Doheny’s, I sent several emails and used online chat to ask for a refund. I was told they would charge me for a return! It was not until I told them I’d go public with this story, that they have finally refunded me … in 2 chunks on May 16 ad 18. My Doheny’s saga has not ended there. On May 25, I have decided to give them another try. I wish I hadn’t! While placing an order online, I received repeated error messages. So, I quit, and then placed an order later same day. I then received emails from them notifying me of shipments of 2 (!) orders. I told them, I had placed only one, which was clearly shown on their own web site. They ignored it saying 2 orders have come from my computer. My telling them it was their web site malfunction, and that my account on their own web site still shows only one order placed, did not help. After about 5 emails, I have sent a message to their CEO. No response. Then, out of blue, I received an email saying “we have refunded you already on May 16 and 18”. Hello, that was a different case! The fake order was dated May 25! Anyway, I have finally advised them I would go public as well as seeking a legal remedy, before they finally refunded $67.85 of my $67.86 order on June 11. Yes they have decided to keep a penny for a memory of me. And as to the product – PhosFree chemical I have received from them, instead of being milky white, it is almost clear like water, no matter how long you shake the container. I hope this review will help others to avoid that awfully mismanaged company with clueless customer service and a questionable product.
Have bought chemicals from them for years. My problem came when I bought a complete pool kit from them. Pool wall cam bent in shipping sent pics no response. Put pool up after bending walls back best I could. Then filled pool after getting liner put in, got the best one they had 25 year warranty, notice it leaking. We found several places where it was never seamed correctly. Called them they wanted me to drain pool to take pics leaving my above ground pool up and unstable tell maybe they resolved the issue. Expressed my concern they said they could no nothing and gave me phone number to there supplier so I called them and they wanted me to cut out bad parts and send them to them before they could decide. Be careful be for spend 5000 on inferior products guess I’ll patch and get a new liner from a reputable company when it fails. Won’t get anything from them again.
Every time I try to order from them I get a back order that keeps getting extended. Then, they cancel my order. Would be nice if they would send you something comparable and honor the price of the product they cancelled on you!
Called in to order a solar cover as we are close. It wasn't in stock so they got one shipped to the store. My wife went to pick it up and brought it home. I looked at the receipt and found I wasn't charged sale price. Called store and they said to bring in receipt & refund the difference. Great! Now for quality of the solar cover, I bought the 2400 blue solar cover the middle of the line, what a piece of junk. A 7yr. guarantee but not against rips. The bubbles are maybe a 1/4" in diameter so not a very good insulating factor. The plastic is so thin I'll be surprised if it lasts a year.
I have been a customer for the past 10 years & I am very happy with my purchases from this company! The fast shipping is the best! They have a great assortment of products at reasonable prices. My last purchase ended up being the wrong part but customer service was very helpful in guiding me to find the correct one. I will continue to use Dohenys for all my pool supplies!
Placed an order Fri and was told it would arrive Tues. Did not arrive and when I called they said it was an error in the warehouse. Talked to Mgr and told me the warehouse had IT issues and it would ship by days end which was 3pm EST, I didnt even talk to her until 345pm EST. I asked where it was coming from and she was not sure but told me warehouse had IT issues, hmm. If it were to arrive today it should have been shipped Mon. I asked to expediate shipping and was told they do not have that, asked for credit towards my payment and told they cant do that either. Ill be curious to see if or when I receive it
In May 2023 I bought a filter and pump from them. Its now June 2024 and the pump stopped working. I'm from Buffalo NY we only use our pool maybe 4 months out of the year and the pump already stopped working. I called them to see if they would work with me and they said no you have to just buy a new pump. I will not be buying from them again such garbage product.
