If you understand Quickbooks you can understand this pos system in a hearbeat. It's pretty straight forward. Create an inventory item, add custom fields, one being SKU and each product is given a name/UPC. SmallCoffee can be a item UPC. Click import and make buttons (small) and another one (coffee) Creation can be timely, but worth it. The need of paying for a year of support isn't really needed tho, maybe 6 months for a inexperienced person, but you can pretty much understand the ins and outs within a few days. I have tested over 30 POS systems and they are all horrific. The worst system was Lightspeed bar none! Theyre still trying to bill me for a software i was guaranteed 30 days or money back. nope! But, Accupos, Attitude Positive, provides support and you aren't locked in any ridiculous contracts. Ive worked with this company for over 10 years now. Mainly because they have been slowly evolving keeping up with the times and needs of daily usage... (I tho am sad they removed use of macros in their POS key page) Every year they assess possible security holes and are helpful when needed. My only complaint is your required to use their gift cards system. My current credit card processor, Vantiv allows free gift card swipes and is the only reason why i pay for their support (tho they give you free upgrades each year if you do pay for it, recently a huge major overhaul) I highly recommend Vantiv (they saved me about 1k a month in fees) Back to my only true complaint is my history with their gift card server being slow and they won't allow other companies use. So theres somewhat of a monopoly there. You can have 3rd party companies make gift cards, but they charge $150 to add more numbers into your database and can feel like its a process. Also, if you need help credit card processors they have ridiculous contracts where changing ANYTHING needs to be done with accupos. Honestly i think that was because of one staff member that was controlling that no longer works for them, but anyway. I would give a 100% 5 star rating if i never had problems with gift cards with their previous generation gift card plugin. I somehow had cards that timed out and were double charged all in all giving negative balances causing some serious headaches in my past and some still haunt me today... This cost me several thousand dollars to rectify with my accounting software. They tried to help but i feel this was a problem i only had due to a huge quantity of cards i use and using an older unsupported POS system. Besides my problem this is the BEST POS software I still have found. I will be continuing use for a chain of stores im building in CT and have gotten to know top management over the years. As an IT guy i was even allowed to help beta test new editions a few years back. Which was quite fun! Software 9/10 Gift Card Processing 4/10 Credit card processing speed 10/10 Tech Support 7/10 Their senior staff is really nice and helpful.
My experience with the customer service and sales team has been incredibly frustrating. I have received incomplete/incorrect information and inconsistent communication in every interaction The customer sales representatives have failed to follow up after I asked them repeatedly to do so. The sales team falsely ensured we would have the ability to manage our inventory without having to purchase the quickbooks integration. I asked this question very specifically before we purchased AccuPos. Only after I got AccuPos set up did I realize that wasn't true. I ordered and paid for a custom report to be created and it took at least 6 months to get the report and then another couple months to have it fixed because the team created it with the wrong criteria. Collectively, I've spend untold hours on hold waiting to talk to someone who then couldn't even give me answers and were unapologetic and entirely opaque about the process. The actual software works fairly well for what we need but I would not recommend it to peers based on the poor service I've received. Additionally, the dashboard is clunky and difficult to use. There are many reports I would like to be able to run that are not available even though its obvious that all of the information is captured. Still working with the system to understand some processes in the back end. Have been using the system for 10 months and just recently taken over the management side of it. On the retail side only a couple of small issues that were quickly fixed by the tech when I called.
Great software and support if it's ever needed
The Silver City Museum has been using AccuPos for several years. The system is easy to use. Support staff are always helpful and ready to solve issues that are generated from our end. We work with volunteers in our Museum Store. The volunteers find AccuPos easy to use. Products are loaded onto the POS for volunteers to find. Also, the bar code system is very helpful and easy to work with too. I recommend this system to anyone considering a POS system for their business.
Continued challenges with new equipment & software in our second store this year. Seems receipt printers & cash drawers lower quality than our equipment purchased 5 yrs ago
There seems to be many everyday point of sale actions that have not been programmed in yet. Printing of receipts from large to small is just one that I can think of immediately. You do have some very good helpers on the phone when I call but would like to see speedier pick up.
