It takes 5 business days for funds to become available for transfers or withdrawal from the day they are deposited into your account, but they ARE available to purchase stock? Why? An additional 2 business days post purchase? Why? 15 minute delays for data to update? Why? You have to pay a premium to be able to deposit up to $1000 in a single take? Why? How this is considered a good wealth management app by anyone is beyond comprehension.
I have been using Wealthsimple for over 1.5 years. I have never ever had any issues. I started by investing in stocks, I have 3 accounts. Personal. TFSA and the cryptocurrency. Yes, it takes a bit of time for funds to appear in the account but they ALWAYS appear. They are just doing their DD in clearing all transactions. I will recommend to family and friends. I am not very good with stocks and have now decided to only invest in crypto. My only observation would be to have a larger variety as hey only offer. BTC and ETH at the moment. (I would love to see Dogecoin!). I have also used Questrade, Shakepay, Binance and Coinsquare. Wealthsimple simple is by far the best experience. Secure and professional! I have had major issues recently with Coinsquare and accounts restrictions. I have never had any issues at all with Wealthsimple. They have in me a loyal client and many more as I only recommend high quality services and so far, Wealthsimple has met high standards on customer service and security. I do have a question: will the cryptocurrency account ever have a wallet like Shakepay? Thank you Wealthsimple for a great experience so far!
Wealthsimple is for clients who will use the mobile app and who bank with the Major banks. For exmple, they cannot handle transactions with simplii. I uploaded a PDF statement of my account that I down loaded from Simplii and was told that it was not acceptable. For my other account with Alterna I provided a downloaded PDF file, a scanned cheque and a picture of cheque. All was not accepted. I cannot link my account. Had three "chats" , 4 emails and one telephone conversation. Use only if you bank with the big banks.
Great company with a personal service, excellent advice making you feel confident with your choices
I made a couple of calls/chat for one simple question and this is how it goes. 1st attempt: Can I transfer money from Wealthsimple Save account to Wealthsimple RRSP Investment account? Ans: Yes, using Move Funds option. Pick Save account in the From dropdown. 2nd attempt: I tried using Move funds and Save account does not appear in From dropdown. Ans: Looks like you just transferred the funds and therefore it will have a hold time before you can move to other acccount. 3rd attempt after hold time was over: I still don't see that option in the dropdown. Ans: Oh! you can't do it. We have to request backoffice to do it. Back to square one. I get a feeling that customer service is really going to be frustating when they have more customers.
Brilliant investment company. Have recommended them to friends.
Great returns. Super easy to deposit funds and the customer service was quick and to the point. Would recommend to anyone looking to invest money over a period of time.
Pls wealth simple add the other crypto currencies now. They are selling so cheap now like dogecoin, cardano, teth give us the opportunity to trade and bare our own risk pls i hate this limitation to bitc and ethereum only it sucks! Crypto is here to stay so you guys need to adjust Quickly!!!! Also those 5 days of deposits hold is too much!!! 3 days should be maximum pls!!!!. Pls challenge yourselves, you are a big company!!!!
Wealthsimple has acquired Simple Tax - and everything went downhill! Simple Tax was a straightforward way to file federal taxes, and I always paid (it was voluntary) for the service. Now with Wealthsimple trying to harvest my data and push their products I'm sorry I'm stuck with this pushy organization whose ads dominate my tax filing and whose spam now flows to my inbox. The spam, by the way, is ILLEGAL as there is no Unsubscribe option in their mailings - a violation of Canadian law. I wrote to them to stop, but got no answer. So here I am, trying to comply with Canada's laws by using a company that violates them. Do yourself a favour - avoid these snakes! (May 12) I now notice Wealthsimple has replied to this review. THEY ARE SIMPLY LYING TO YOU! Their reply claims there is a simple Unsubscribe link - but that is FALSE. That was the whole impetus for my review - they are spamming all potential customers with NO Unsubscribe option. But Wealthsimple just claims some bizarre alternate reality in which they are not doing exactly what they are doing. So if their reply to me is simply FALSE, and since THEY ARE LYING in that paragraph, I warn all readers not to trust a word of anything they say in any paragraph. I repeat: stay away from these snakes.
Wealth Simple have shown to be a good company to deal with. Their staff are keen to help and advise, without any sales pressure. They are pleasant and patient. I do recommend.
Great service, very knowledgeable and not pushy at all.
APRIL 2021. I opened a wealthsimple account on their platform. I deposited $ 150 canadain dollars and another $ 100. Dollars Canadain . The next day I check my bank account and it shows wealthsimple took out another UNAUTHORIZED $ 200 dollars from my bank account . I called my bank and explained it was an UNAUTHORIZED withdrawal. The bank got my $200 back . I go back into my wealthsimple account and they have me locked out of my account. I emailed them about it and they said they locked me out because I complained to my bank about an UNAUTHORIZED withdrawal that wealthsimple took. I asked them a few times in emailing them to please call me and in one email they said they could call you but they won't. . ????? This is happening as I'm writing this review. So they lock me out of my account via phone. So they still have my $250 dollars and they won't call me. How many others have they done this to and got away with it !!!! This is still on going so I will write another review about my ongoing HORRIBLE Experience with wealthsimple. I will never invest again unless a company has a Physical office , That i can physically walked into. And they will have to have phone numbers I can call and actually talk to a real person.
Excellent Customer Service,
Do not file your taxes with wealthsimple. they do not have any kind of phone support or live support. upon upgrading your account they reply after an hour and their business hours is 9-5 only. it is so frustrating just to fill 5 simple empty fields, it wasted entire day and i have left them empty because they refferred to help section of faq. which is of no help.
WealthSimple already manage my ISA and I have just transferred my SIPP to them . This took longer than I expected but it was not the fault of WealthSimple and they kept me informed throughout. I am pleased with their level of service and their charging structure. Their website is very good and easy to use. We are happy that it’s not just a computer and that there are advisers there to talk to. My only criticism is that it’s quite a “blokey” place and there doesn’t seem to be too many women working there.
Fast, easy, clear, approachable and welcoming staff. Web page and ap is so easy to follow.

I am a WealthSimple client and My wife and I have a pretty awful experience. My wife and I transferred stocks into WealthSimple and indicated on the transfer form that they were to be transferred in in-kind (leave them as they are). They were transferred in-kind, but then without my approval WealthSimple sold the stocks and put the proceeds into their funds (which they make money on, whereas with stocks they don’t make money). I’ve contacted WealthSimple almost a half a dozen times about this and they won’t even respond to my requests to correct the incorrect trade. In the meantime the stocks have gone up in value and the WealthSimple investments have been flat so I’ve lost out on thousands of dollars. I used to be an IIROC advisor so I know they’re required to get approval for me for any unusual trades, and they’re required to reverse this trade and make me whole for the lost gains. They won’t even respond to my customer service requests or emails to their compliance department. UPDATE: they replied only after I filed a complaint with IIROC (the regulatory body) and it was basically, “Too bad so sad, you should have read the fine print.” The fine print, and their status as a discretionary portfolio manager allows them to legally do what they did. But they also have a legal responsibility to clients to make paperwork easy to understand, and in cases of uncertainty get trades approved. When their transfer paperwork has a headline that says TRANSFER ALL ASSETS IN-KIND then in the fine print it says that they’ll sell your securities, that’s unclear what a customer is agreeing to. Their lack of response at the outset, and their refusal to accept any responsibility for poor paperwork causes me to have the opinion that their management is not operating in the best interest of clients; very few financial institutions really are, but at least major financial institutions compliance department will side with a customer in times of doubt.
