The whole flight was fantastic. It was a beautiful evening Chris was a great pilot, very capable and informative. The whole experience was great even helping to set up and pack away the balloon.

My husband and I were both booked on different days for flights as we had no one to dog sit, but on arrival for my husband’s flight ( dog in tow, me dogsitting) Roland and Rebecca offered to pooch sit so I could fly on the same flight as my husband 😃 The whole experience was brilliant, from helping to set up the balloon, the flight ( Garry, the pilot, answering all our questions) to landing and helping to ‘ deconstruct ‘ the balloon. The flight was breathtaking, so smooth and quiet, flying over little villages and stunning countryside. The landing was surprisingly soft, no dramas. We had waited over a year with multiple cancellations due to poor weather conditions but it was genuinely worth the wait, for anybody waiting too, don’t give up, it was amazing. Again, thank you Roland and Rebecca for looking after pooch and making my day.

A brilliant experience! The weather was also great and we had clear vision of the various landmarks. It was fun to be able to recognise some of the buildings/areas as we glided over the countryside. I was amazed at how quiet it is up at 1000 ft. Getting involved in setting up at the beginning and winding up at the end was an great insight into what effort goes into this experience - though it was only 1% our effort; It was mainly William, Hannah & Tony who did the hard work. Thoroughly recommend this.

The most amazing experience! A very early start for an AM flight but 100% worth it, enjoyed every second and our pilot Peter was great, making us awear of our surroundings and explained so much. Would definitely recommend! Thank you 😊

I associated Virgin @RichardBranson as a trustworthy, reliable and honest brand. How wrong could I be? I bought a Virgin Balloon ride for me and my best friend as a gift to celebrate her 50th birthday in May 2022. She had recently lost her mother, grandmother, and uncle in close succession within the previous 18 months and based on the marketing, I thought the ride would be a wonderful tonic for the tough emotional journey my friend had been on. When I bought the voucher, it stated that they were non-refundable, but I wasn’t concerned about this as I had no intention of cancelling the ride. It is now June 2024 and two years have passed since I bought the voucher. I have booked the ride now on 9 different dates rebooking each time because of the weather. You have to call on the day of the ride and a recorded message will let you know if the ride is going ahead. If your ride is cancelled, you have to try to rebook within 6 months which is not a straightforward process either as you are competing with years of disappointed customers forced into this rebooking nightmare cycle. And for each time it is cancelled, and we rebook another date, we must get time off work and deal with childcare issues for the day of the ride. As I suspect with many disappointed customers, when I asked for a refund Virgin refer you to their T&Cs where they state that the voucher is non-refundable. They also state that because they make it clear that it is weather dependent, you just must suck it up. They do not make any attempt at the time of purchase to give you any idea of the reality of the booking nightmare – in fact they do the opposite – they state you have 18 months to book which is designed to lull you into a false sense of security making you think you can use your voucher within a long period of time – in reality they state that because they know it is unlikely you will be able to fly within 18 months – they do not make any attempt to alert you to the probability of the flights going ahead on any given date. If they published stats related to the number of cancellations, I suspect that most people wouldn’t bother. I know as well that I am not just the unlucky one – if you take a close look at their reviews, this is the stuff of a class action suit. In fact, I have come across an individual who has now been waiting 9 years. Virgin do not make it clear at booking time the likelihood of your ride going ahead – they state that it may need rebooking due to the weather, but they go out of their way not to give any indication of what this really means. If they were honest and pointed out the likelihood of the flight being cancelled, then of course a large proportion of people would not bother booking. This is quite disingenuous and appalling from a brand like Virgin. They make the situation far worse by refusing a refund when it is obvious that someone has tried in good faith repeatedly to take their ride. I am no expert, but I suspect they are in fact in breach of consumer rights legislation by not being clear and transparent regarding the chances of any balloon ride going ahead. In simple terms non-refundable is all good and well if you can deliver a service within an acceptable time frame – since they are unable to do that, in these cases they should offer refunds otherwise they will just have to put up with lots more angry customers who will leave with the feeling that the Virgin brand belongs in the toilet. Personally balloon rides aside, I have historically always flown Virgin - I am done with them.

The weather was as perfect as it could have been. All safety stuff was clearly explained. The route it took was beautiful and the pilot Russell was very good and kept us updated with our surroundings. I felt we were very safe with him as pilot. Thoroughly enjoyable flight.

Beautiful flight on 3rd June So mesmerising and serene. Woody was the perfect host reassuring anybody that was rather nervous that all would be well for an absolutely glorious flight and it was. Thanks so much Woody and your team!

Amazing trip from start to finish, Woody was a perfect blend of approachable and professional. He was clearly very experienced and looked after the more worried passengers with care. I got to be hands on at every stage and it was very exciting. The landing MUST have been textbook, on a piece of land with a footpath, and Woody lay the balloon down literally on the path!!!

We had a fantastic flight with Chris and his lovely team. They were welcoming, friendly, funny and efficient, and I felt very safe in their capable hands. We were lucky enough to have perfect weather, which added to what was a truly wonderful and memorable experience.

Delightful experience enhanced by a great team We arrived rather flustered because of terrible traffic and were immediately put at ease by the Team. The flight itself was great, and Chris's interpretation of what we were seeing made it a very interesting experience as well as a memorable one. The trip was absolutely worth the wait - thanks to all.

Chris (the pilot) and Ed and Terry were wonderful hosts and made this unique experience very special. So experienced, informative, good natured and fun. I would highly recommend anyone to balloon with this team. Landing next to the ex-BA B747-400 G-BNLY at Dunsfold was a special experience and conclusion to the end of the flight, as I used to crew these aircraft (including this one) back in my BA flying days.

After 13 failed attempts (no fault of Virgin, just our country's bad weather!) we eventually managed to get our flight last night & what an amazing experience it was. Our pilot Gavin was very knowledgeable & experienced & we felt safe in his capable hands. It was even fun after helping to dismantle the balloon - which seemed massive! Virgin were always very helpful with our re bookings. Highly recommended & well worth our wait!

I booked Virgin Balloon in 2021, for a surprise 50th birthday present, however, the flights are constantly being cancelled. It is now 2024 and the vouchers have expired. don't waste your time or money, better off buying a flight in an light aircraft.
