I wanted to buy a ukulele but had no idea what to get. I am a classical guitarist but fancied having one knocking around the living room! I sent an email to these guys with a long list of questions and concerns about finding an instrument that I could get on with. The reply was equally detailed and with a range of options. I made a choice and bought blind (too far to drive down to try it). I did do my own research too to check the model being recommended. The little beauty arrived a few days later and she is gorgeous :). Very happy with the entire experience - especially their knowledge about all things ukulele!

I was after a new, high end ukulele and was interested in two Kanile’a models and a Koaloha model. Living at the opposite end of the country I was never going to be able to get down to the shop so I communicated with Rob and Alex via e-mail. They responded quickly, answered all my questions and gave very well informed and impartial advice. The whole team are clearly passionate and extremely knowledgeable about ukuleles. Yes they want to sell you a ukulele but they want to sell you the right ukulele. I settled on the Kanile’a SUS-T model. I was a little anxious about buying such an expensive item without seeing it first but the information and advice from the team at SUS was so good I took the plunge. My new ukulele arrived the next working day via DPD. It was well packaged and when I unwrapped it I could not have been happier with my new ukulele. This review is primarily about the outstanding service provided by SUS but in case anyone reading this is interested the SUS-T ukulele is an absolutely stunning instrument and I highly recommend it. In summary I highly recommend the Southern Ukulele Store and can’t imagine buying a new ukulele from anywhere else.

I recently called Southern Ukulele Store for advice on choosing a new tenor ukulele. I'd been playing for a few months on a very cheap and basic soprano and was ready to upgrade to something nicer (and bigger). I spoke to Rob and explained what I was looking for, and he recommended a uke that was cheaper than the one I was considering! He didn't put any pressure on me to decide there and then, though, and suggested that I go away, do some research, read a few reviews and then call back. I put in the order the next day (Rob was also able to recommend a suitable low G string, and offered to install it for me free of charge) and the uke arrived, well-packaged and perfectly set up with a strap button installed, two days later. Fantastic, personalised and impartial service from Southern Ukulele, and a lovely instrument that looks, sounds and feels wonderful, all for quite a bit less than I'd expected to pay (I treated myself to some nice accessories). I'll be giving them a call when I realise that I 'need' a baritone...

Having been learning to play guitars for a few years, I was inspired by 'The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain' performances, and (never having played a ukulele) was keen to try and was looking for a suitable tenor instrument to learn on. Looked at various sites on the internet regarding everything ukulele and eventually arrived at Southern Ukulele Store, and watched a number of informative Youtube video evaluations of various sizes, makes and prices all produced by Alex at the store. He plays ukuleles himself and knows! These videos are regularly produced and updated, and provide a fantastic resource, and are extremely helpful in guiding anyone of whatever level of playing in what to purchase to match ability, needs, and budget. Well worth taking time to watch several, and then to ask advice if needed. I did find a used PONO solid Mango wood 'Pineapple' Tenor ukulele for sale on the site at a sensible price, and emailed Alex for his advice regarding the likely suitability for a 'newbie'. He replied promptly with good advice, and I placed an order. which included free delivery by 2 day DPD courier. Next day I 'phoned to add a few extras to my order before it was dispatched. No problem to do. Delivery by DPD was dead on time, and the mid priced ukulele was exactly as described and a fantastic instrument that I will enjoy. All in all an excellent and personal service .way above some normal online outlets, and I would have no hesitation in recommending Southern Ukulele Store on all levels to advise and help with your future needs.

Recently bought a high end uke from these guys (Anuenue moonbird tenor), as they are some distance from me, I dealt with them over the phone. I received first class advice and was asked how I would like the uke set up. Uke arrived next day, very well packaged and played so much easier than my current tenor(Kanile'a)so I phoned Rob and he very quickly over the phone figured out what was wrong and advised what needed to be done. Excellent friendly service.

As I wanted to upgrade my uke collection with a high end one, I decided to go for a K brand, and I found a stunning Kanile'a K-3 tenor on the SUS website.... i live in France and was a bit worried about transportation with such a pricey item... the uke was sent on Monday and I received it the following Wednesday in perfect packaging condition.. The uke is beautiful in every way... Kanile'a truely has the most amazing wood.. though mine is deluxe koa and not premium, it is gorgeous...and of course it plays beautifully with a neck that is perfect for my confort.. Those guys at SUS have done an amazing job, super responsive and super nice!! thanks guys !! Mahalo!!

my new Kala tenor ukulele has arrived on time and in tune as promised by SUS. I am old and could not visit their store but I recieved well considered advice and help from Rob and Alex who produced a result with which I am well pleased. I opted for low g string tuning; now it has arrived fitted and set up and delivered the next day I like very much the result of their advice and practical help. Southern Ukulele Store staff are extremely helpful and nothing is too much trouble for them to ensure you make the right choice. Having previously bought in person in the past, I was unable to visit to purchase my new Big Island Concert ukulele. My questions were answered honestly and promptly and upon receipt of the well packed and speedily delivered instrument, it exceeded my expectations and is an absolute delight to own and play. I highly recommend you to give the guys a call or to visit them for you new ukulele.

Southern Ukulele Store is the most helpful Musical Shop i have used..They are just excellent for giving advice on the phone or in the Store...Most helpful staff i have come across. They spend time and have so much patience and do not mind how long they spend discussing my needs. Just recently i spoke to 2 staff on the phone about buying a new Soprano Uke and also later about changing the Tuners on my Uke as i had Friction Tuners and just could not get on with them..But ...it was tricky because I still wanted the look of the friction tuners but in a Gear form....but also the colouring of the Tuners i felt had to match the Uke too....They knew straight away what i needed and gave me the link to show me which ones to buy....also letting me know what to measure first and then choose..I rang 3 times to talk to them and there was just no problem...In other stores i do not think they would have such patience....Thank you once again Southern Ukulele Staff for your most excellent service.

I’m a real beginner with the ukulele. I bought a cheap uke from a local shop but was not happy with it. After looking at lots of YouTube videos and doing some google research I called SUS and spoke to Rob. I thought I knew what I wanted but Rob really knew what he was talking about, I took his advice and bought a fantastic ukulele over the phone. He listened to what I wanted and gave me some great advice. I spoke to him on Tuesday afternoon and he assured him me he’d prepare my ukulele and send it on Wednesday, it arrived Thursday morning. It was tuned and ready to play... straight out of the box (and a beautiful instrument it is too!) It was a great experience, I just wish I lived close to their shop, and I will definitely be calling them again when I want my next uke. I can not recommend them highly enough, just a great, friendly and expert service. Thank you so much!

I have bought 3 ukes over the last few years from Southern Ukuleles, always based on their advice from info I have given them ref my requirements. ALWAYS spot on with what they suggest. Love the website, and watch their videos just for entertainment. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Just sorry I don't live near enough to visit every weekend - but perhaps my wife is relieved about that ! I have just bought my third ukulele from S.U.S and cannot speak highly enough of the range of their products, their profound knowledge and understanding of both their instruments and their customers and the degree of helpfulness of the staff. I have just bought a Romero TT, a new concept of a concert-sized uke with a tenor sound. This was a fairly hefty investment and I am unable to get to the store, but the excellent website with audio clips and the willingness of staff to discuss, advise and demonstrate on the phone made it possible for me to proceed with complete confidence. The love and enthusiasm of the staff for the instruments they sell, from the most expensive to the cheapest, is obvious and I would not go anywhere else.

Amazing service. I’ve been looking for a new ukulele but not able to get to the store. Completely confused by too much information on the internet I dropped Alex an email in the hope that he could point me somewhere In the right direction. Alex came straight back and was able to recommend a suitable instrument that would grow with me as my playing improves. My Snail SUC M1 arrived within a few days and I have to say not only is it lovely to look at it sounds way better than my previous ukulele. Even my husband commented on it! After spending a few weeks extensively searching across the internet, I finally found the uke of my dreams at SUS. Only found this specific one at their place. I have to say that their selection is probably one of the best if not THE best that I could find all over Europe. Widest selection of instruments and vast range of price and variety. The way they passionately describe and care about their ukuleles, no matter if it's a low or high end model, is precious and outstanding. Their videos on their You tube channels are great and also taught me so much about ukuleles in general!! You should really check it out. When I finally placed my order, not only did I receive it within two days (in France), but when I unboxed it, it was so carefully wrapped up and set up, ready to play and all, that it truly made me feel like a child opening his very first birthday present. Last but not least, as I ordered a few extra accessories, they also threw in a free humidifier...how nice and thoughtful!!! Answered the phone when I called them and took the time to answer all my inquiries even though english is not my first language. I highly recommend the Southern Ukulele Store, and, for my part intend to buy most if not all my future ukes through them.
