The first documented evidence of viticulture in the Pieroth family was in 1675, and we haven't stopped producing wine since - in fact we still make wine from our estate in Burg Layen, Germany, where everything started for us. The name of Pieroth is synonymous with viticulture expertise, strong family traditions and an unsurpassed range of exclusive wines. Excellent customer service and expertise acquired over many years have made us the undisputed market leaders in direct wine sales all over the world. Why not come on a wine-derful journey with us from grape to glass.
Enjoyed a lovely wine tasting evening with Ian Cooper on Thursday. He was very knowledgeable and friendly and we all thoroughly enjoyed tasting all of the delicious wines! Although we didn't all love every single one, there were enough choices that we all found something we really enjoyed. Ian was incredibly understanding and not pushy at all in terms of sales as we all enjoyed our evening but could not justify an impulse purchase of a case of wine. It's definitely a shame that the wines cannot be purchased by the bottle as we would have been tempted to buy a bottle of the Echstaler Rose... or two! Perhaps taking some bottles on tastings would result in a few more sales from people who are not interested in a whole case? Just a thought! This experience would also be the perfect way to choose wines for a wedding or event for instance! Relaxing in the comfort of your own home and tasting wines leisurely is a lovely way to enjoy an activity without the additional travel, accommodation costs etc that are involved when attending a tasting at a venue. Overall, we all loved it and would love the opportunity to sample a few more wines in the future! Thank you Ian! :)
My daughter gave us a Pieroth Wine Tasting voucher for March. A couple of days before had I received a call to advise that due to the rep having a family bereavement the event would need to be cancelled. The caller was very pleasant and apologetic and of course I was understanding. We later set a new date for June 14th and I have an e:mail confirmation. A few days beforehand I thought it was strange I had received no further contact so I attempted to make contact, I e:mailed the rep but did not receive a reply. Coincidently I then heard from Pieroth the following day to say that the voucher I had was soon to expire so to contact them to book an event. I replied advising that I had booked an event for just a few days time and was expecting a rep to turn up. Needless to say no rep turned up at my house on Friday 14th June, my friends were there, we did eat nice food and we did drink wine, only none of it was provided by Pieroth. I have since written to Pieroth via the link on their website and of course have not received a reply. I am not in any way now looking to rebook but I would like my daughter re-imbursed for the cost of the voucher which Pieroth have not honoured.
My wife and I like wine and didn't book any tasting but tried 6 bottles. We were very impressed and have since bought another 12 with one free. The wine is lovely, try it.
Booked a wine tasting for an hour ago and so far nothing.. no call & no way to contact an office. Pretty much going have to make a dash to a local wine shop as have obviously gathered the attendees & the advised snacks. Unprofessional & unreliable.
We had a fantastic evening with Peter in Swansea last night. Made us feel at ease all night. It was fun, Peter was incredibly informative and knowledgeable for his products. It was fascinating and we learned so much from the evening. Can't even explain how good the host was, we really enjoyed his company. Unfortunately you can't buy wines by the bottle and 12 bottles at over £20 a bottle is a little out of our price range, but the wines are delicious. Felt no pressure into buying them which is something I was worried about before the night started. Would certainly recommend to friends and family to try out as it was a brilliant evening.
Roland was lovely and very informative. Great evening and lovely to try a variety of wines It would have been better if we could have bought per bottle though
I had bought a wine tasting voucher for myself and my work friends to do one Friday evening and it was our first experience doing a wine experience and honestly it was the best night we've had in a long time! Vanessa was so lovely and pleasant from the get go, if I was ever to have a wine tasting again I would always want Vanessa to be our host! She was so informative, funny & made us feel at ease. From the initial purchasing of the wine voucher up until meeting Vanessa it all ran very smoothly. I had spoken to a few consultants over the phone just to run through what the night involved and everyone I spoke to was really friendly and helpful! If you're thinking of a birthday present or anniversary present (or anything to be quite honest) I would definitely book an afternoon with Pieroth. Vanessa really made us laugh through out the night and my friends really enjoyed every second of it! All of us aren't massive red wine drinkers, however, every Pieroth red wine we tasted just went down a treat! THEY ARE SO NICE!!! Thanks again Vanessa & everyone at Pieroth for a perfect night! -Tammy,Emma,Lucy & Rach
Excellent company with really friendly reps. Had a wine tasting with Melanie Power (from sterling office) on Fri 17/5 and everyone had a brilliant time 😎
We had a really nice and informative wine tasting with Kevin cooper. He presented a nice variety of wines and always gave good explanation which we really enjoyed. I definitely can recommend to join a wine tasting with him!
A close friend invited me to an afternoon of wine tasting by Pieroth. I was very pleasantly surprised by the level of knowledge from our rep, Kevin Cooper. He spent a considerable amount of time with us (probably because we decided to bring out a cheeseboard to complement our wines, so we did take our time!) he didn’t ever once push for a sale from the group and allowed us to enjoy the wine and was not phased by the amount of questions that were thrown at him and he didn’t rush us. Kevin was punctual, professional and friendly. If I was to hold my own tasting evening, I wouldn’t hesitate to request Kevin as my rep. I thought the wines that Kevin showcased were lovey although admittedly not all of them were to my taste, however there were a couple that pleasantly surprised me. Thank you for a lovely afternoon, I will certainly be looking to hold my own tasting event in the future.
We had Kevin in Sheffield and he was amazing! Explained everything about the wines and I never felt pressures to buy the products as they speak for themselves...
Booked a wine tasting and was visited by Kevin Cooper and I must say he was fab! My wine taste is pretty limited as I know what I like and tend to stick to it however I was surprised by wines that I would never normally choose! This also confirmed that I am indeed a Pinot Grigio fan, 100% :) Kevin explained everything from the history to the actual tasting of the wines and didn’t rush us, he took his time and didn’t push to close a sale (he did get one btw) Really impressed with this level of service and the quality of the wines and will be using them again Oh and the Tawny Port was AMAZING!!!! Looking forward to my delivery and thanks again Kevin
I was contacted by Pieroth out of the blue...never heard of them before that. I spoke with a female agent who explained a little about the company and the wines they have in stock. When it came to describing the taste of some of the wines it was pretty obvious she was reading word for word from a prepared sheet. I don't profess to being a wine connoisseur, the majority of people know what they like despite what is on the label. However, I would have thought that any company who is trying to encourage people to try their wines, would make certain their representatives know what they are talking about. Despite misgivings at the time, I did order 6 bottles from her. The wine duly arrived and my wife and I set about tasting it. Most of what we tried was, quite frankly, awful. My invoice duly arrived and for the 6 bottles I was charged just shy of £60.00. Delivery and VAT (which were not mentioned at point of sale) taking up approximately £20.00 of the bill. Delivery £10.00? Outrageous! The wines that I received can best be described as mediocre. Two of them (Red) went down the sink. After sampling a white I decided to make someone else miserable and gave three away as a raffle prize. I spoke with an agent this morning, paid the invoice, and made my feelings known. Needless to say, I will not be ordering again.
I bought two vouchers for two wine tastings back in November and arranged to hold both of them in January. On the evening of the first one (code 6T...), no one turned up (embarrassing for my guests who had travelled to London for it!) and I was unable to get hold of anyone from Pieroth that evening. The next day, I was able to reach a manager who explained there was a misunderstanding which resulted in my event being cancelled last minute without my being told, they were apologetic and offered to reorganise. I was unable to reorganise at the time since I was moving to New Zealand later that month but it was agreed that I could reschedule for my return. The second wine tasting I had arranged (code 4G...) proceeded with no issues. I have now been trying to contact Pieroth for almost the last three weeks to reschedule and have been unable to reach anyone despite trying 3 email addresses, the website contact form and 3 phone numbers. I'm extremely disappointed and, as a last resort, I'm hoping this will prompt a response! Update: I've managed to get an email from my old contact and hopefully will be getting a phone call shortly too.
Alan was very pleasant and the evening was most enjoyable. However we didn't like any of the wines and felt they should be sold for no more than £2 per bottle, not the £20 that Pieroth say they are worth. We would say they are the vineyard's cast offs. Alan spoke such a lot of rubbish about wines generally but it did provide us some hilarity after he had gone when we recalled some of the things he told us about wine and about Pieroth. Although an enjoyable evening I would say the no obligation wine tasting from Pieroth Wines is perhaps one of the biggest cons I have ever come across.
Had some initial trouble with communications between Pieroth and setting an initial date through their website for a wine-tasting experience. This was bought for me by my brother as a Christmas present. Had to chase Pieroth with phone calls which was irritating. Apparently, sadly, the death of a rep had led to issues. We ended up rebooking and had a very enjoyable session with our lovely host, Louise Saunders, who is very informed and knowledgeable and easy company.
A very enjoyable evening. Was it what I expected? Yes. Rory our Sommelier for the night knows his stuff. Miracle of miracles he managed to find some reds that my wife would drink. Our party of four knew well in advance that as well as a wine tasting that it was also a selling exercise for Rory. There was no hard sell just good wine. Both couples ended up buying a case of wine each and look forward to experiencing some more of Pieroths extremely nice tasting wines. Must not forget the Port, What can I say, delicious and it was also ordered.
Whilst we had a very pleasant evening with a pieroth wine tasting event it was overshadowed by a comment made by Jeremy at the end saying “well that was a waste of time”, in reaction to us being unable to commit to purchasing a crate of wine. I think that the salesperson should be reminded that the wine tasting event was purchased and that the purchase of wine is an optional part of the evening and not essential. This comment turned the whole atmosphere very unpleasant and made my guests feel very awkward which I make aware is not a great impression for pieroth wines. My guests and I are now hesitant to purchase a wine tasting event from pieroth wines in the future to avoid such awkward situations. This not only leads to lost sales of wine but also to the wine tasting events for pieroth wine. I also did not get my full, unopened bottle of their flagship wine which is advertised. Only the leftover bottle from the tasting event. Finally, despite my instructions on the phone to say there is on-street parking outside, he chose to park his car inside my block of flats and on the way out made another inappropriate comment saying “I’m off to see if I have a parking ticket”. I have been undersold and left very unsatisfied.
Having read such a cornucopia of mixed reviews about the Home Tasting Experience, it was with some trepidation that my wife, myself and two friends gathered on 11th April at 4pm to experience for ourselves what Pieroth had to offer. Our concerns proved to be unfounded. Roger was our official guide and he conducted the tastings with expertise, knowledge and worldly wisdom. He did not rush and allowed us to discuss our preferences amongst ourselves at a leisurely pace. We were openly encouraged to express which wines we liked and why, and even those we were uncertain about. Of course, like food, wine is a personal preference and what suits one palate doesn't necessarily please another. We didn't feel hurried or pressurised to purchase during the tastings, and maybe because of that, at the conclusion of a very enjoyable experience, the four of us created our own "case" of our favourites. Of course the wine was never going to be cheap when compared to supermarket prices, but there again, you are paying for the quality and uniqueness of the product. A very pleasant two hours, thanks to Roger and a fine selection of wines. Thank you.
DO NOT BOOK AS THIS IS NOT A (PROPER OR PROFESSIONAL) WINE TASTING The tasting for 4 - which was a present to us - was booked 5 months before & initially confirmed by the rep., then nothing happened. When we phoned to ask if all was ok for the upcoming tasting date, nothing had been booked. However, a last minute arrangement was made for us & the very nice lady rep. got in touch & appeared on time with 12 wines (packed in special wine transport cases). All wine bottles were open, some half empty, so god knows when they were actually opened = not a good sign at all). The experience was dire. The 5 whites were awful/unpalatable/cheap tasting or no taste at all & the 1 Hungarian Rosé (we specifically said not to bring ANY sweet wine/s as not interested at all) was strawberry syrup. 3 of the reds were ok of which 1 was good. Not a good outcome from 12 bottles. When prices were mentioned, we just had to laugh. £16 + VAT for a KABINETT from the Nahe (off-dry), rock bottom quality. And that was the cheapest wine on offer. For that money you can buy 2 excellent quality whites (on offer) any time. Lots of people look for the odd "wine bargain" when shopping, so why buy from Pieroth ? This company's prices are hyper-inflated, even if some people like the offerings. Aldi has much better choice & quality than what was offered to us (4 widely travelled wine drinkers who have been to many REAL wine tastings). AVOID.
