Pet Stay and Sophia were recommended to me by my Vet Nurse neighbour. The organisation of Alfie’s first stay and communication have been great. Our beautiful Whippet Alfie can be a nervous boy and needs people to let him work them out before they approach him. From the moment I met Adrian with Alfie before our first booking I knew he was in the best hands. I was right… when I went to collect Alfie he was so calm and happy and had totally made himself at home. He even followed Adrian around while he collected his stuff and went to give him a little head rub to say goodbye before we left. Never been so relaxed leaving Alfie and bearing in mind we haven’t left him since covid began that’s saying a lot! 😊
Excellent service. Quick and easy admin. Our dog loves her sitter and we know she is in a happy safe environment.
Olwyn looked after our boy King for a week. She was kind and caring and looked after him as well as we do, if not more and it was a home from home experience for King which was essential for us. Thank you Olwyn!
We are thoroughly happy with our service from Petstay. The introductory meeting is great for putting your mind at rest and making sure that both parties are comfortable with the arrangement. Our dogs, Hugo and Boss went to stay with Carol, Mick and Honey. First visit was just 3 days then they have just been for 12 days. We feel totally at ease leaving them in Carol's care. She obviously loves dogs and knows her stuff. Carol and Mick take time to talk to us about our dogs. They settle in quickly and soon look at home. Hugo is very lively, they both have their very different personalities and Carol deals with them fantastically. Both Carol and Mick make sure that their needs are met. They had barked quite a few nights on their last visit and Carol and Mick had tried to work out why. None of us could put our finger on the reason but we are very grateful that they persevered with them. Thank you very much Carol and Mick.
This was our first time leaving our dog and straight away Jane made us feel at ease - Sheena was wonderful, our dog clearly loved staying and we had loads of photos on WhatsApp. I’d thoroughly recommend.
Our dog Breagha stayed with Betty for 10 days. Betty is a wonderful sitter and a great asset to the Petstay organisation. Nothing was too much bother for her and she kept us well informed about Breagha’s poor eating habits and how she was dealing with the issue. I would have no hesitation in recommending Betty and Petstay and will definitely use again.
We have left our dog Charlie with Andrew, and he has very much enjoyed his stay, and was very well cared-for. It's great to have peace of mind that your dog is going to be well looked after when you go away for a break.
I am leaving this review to prevent others from making the same mistake I did. I booked with PetStay with the assurance that my dog was going to receive the best care from Betty. In hindsight, this was clearly a mistake. My dog Alfie is diabetic and blind and requires insulin injections with his food at the same time twice a day. We had alfie in a set routine that means he has to be walked for the same length of time every day and have the same amount of food with his insulin injections, as this prevents his levels from going too high or too low. When Jane contacted me to recommend Betty, she told me that she had experience with diabetic dogs and is fully aware of what that entails. Hearing this reassured me and my family that Betty would be a good fit. After meeting Betty, we thought Alfie was comfortable with her presence and would be happy with her when we went away. After being told that we would receive daily updates, our hesitation was eased and felt comfortable leaving our boy with Betty. However, it was clear from early on after dropping him off that these updates wouldn't be happening. Betty only contacted us twice during our 7 days away, and this was only because we contacted her first to ask about him. The second time we contacted Betty, she stated that there were a few hiccups with alfies care but refused to elaborate when questioned further about this. When we returned home to pick up Alfie, it was obvious from the first moment that he was not OK. He was thinner than he was when we left him and was extremely clingy when he usually goes in a little huff with us for a few days whenever we go away. Betty explained that she was unsure of how much to feed Alfie, despite me telling her it was to be half a bowl twice a day, and decided to lower his usual amount to barely a quarter of this because she decided to contact her vet as she thought that was too much for him. So Betty and the vet contacted the dog food brand, and then she decided to lower his amount to a small measuring cup of food twice a day. Due to this sudden change in his food, Alfies insulin levels were obviously all over the place, causing him to drink more water than usual, which as anyone with a diabetic dog would know, THIS COULD HAVE EASILY SENT HIM INTO A HYPO OR KILLED HIM. Betty stated that he started howling for the last 3 days, especially at nighttime, and he peed in the house. After hearing this, we made it clear that the only reason he was howling was because he needed out and was hungry. All Betty was trying to do was record him on her phone howling so she could show us him howling instead of taking him out. Lastly, we provided Betty with a weeks worth of tug-of-war toys for Alfie to play with, as he gets bored easily if he doesn't have a new toy to play with. Sadly, because he ripped apart the first one (his usual behaviour)(that we told her he would do), Betty decided to withhold the rest because she was not happy with this behaviour. When we went to pick Alfie up all Betty wanted to do was lecture us about Alfie, I held my tongue as I was listening to her and decided I would hold my tongue and call PetStay as I didn't want to be disrespectful to an older lady. I called Jane the next day, and she said she would look into it and contact Betty. Jane then called me back a few hours later after she spoke to Betty. Yes, I agreed Betty looked after Alfie but not in the way she was supposed to or what I had paid for. 1. BETTY HAS NO RIGHT TO CHANGE ALFIE'S FOOD OR THE AMOUNT HE WAS BEING FED. 2. BETTY HAS NO RIGHT TO WITHHOLD ALFIE'S TOYS FROM HIM. AS THEY WHERE THE ONLY TOYS ALFIE CAN PLAY WITH AS HE IS BLIND. 3. ALFIE WAS HOWLING BECAUSE HE NEEDED A WEE, AND THATS HIS WAY OF LETTING YOU KNOW HE NEEDED OUT. BETTY WAS INFORMED OF THIS FROM OUR FIRST MEETING, HOWEVER, SHE IGNORED HIS CRIES AND HE COULDNT HOLD IT ANY LONGER AND HE PEE'D IN THE HOUSE. ALFIE ONLY REQURES 3 THINGS: TO BE FED TO BE PLAYED WITH TO GET OUT FOR HIS TOILET NEEDS Betty did not meet any of these requirements as she said she would. Jane promised me a refund then said I would only get £90 admin fees back and not the £130 I also paid Betty. However, I have still not received this. I do not care about the money, but I am angry at the way my dog has been treated, and want to warn anyone who has a pet to avoid this company and Betty, as they could put their pet at risk. I know this may sound petty and unfair, but this is 100% honesty, and I couldn't live with myself if this happened to someone else's pet, and the worst happened.
Excellent service as always from Petstay. Lots of care taken in finding a good match for Chip leaving me in no doubt that we were leaving him in good hands.
Having used Petstay previously we were very happy to leave Bronwyn in their care. The first introductory meeting left us in no doubt we were leaving her in a good caring doggy loving hands. Alice & Bernard keep us updated with photos of Bronwyn throughout her stay from these we could see how relaxed and happy she was with them both. I’m not sure Bronwyn wanted to leave Alice & Bernard’s she had become very attached to them. Thank you so much Alice Bernard & Petstay for taking such good care of our girl. We will see you soon xx
Thank you, pet stay you saved my holiday and found a wonderful place for my dog Micky, at very short notice. She had such a lovely time I don't think she wanted to come home! Gerri and Mike were fantastic and I really appreciated the photos and updates. I would highly recommend yr services and feel I can go away again without a worry. Thank you again
Albus had the best time on his little holiday just before Christmas! Fred and Dee were so welcoming he clearly felt quite at home (to be honest when I picked him up I was worried he didn’t want to come at one point!!) We were so pleased with the care he received we’re booking our next holiday asap!
I’ve used PetStay a few times now and am so appreciative of the service. Pig is a dog that would really suffer in kennels but her PetStay carers Steve and most recently Ann & George have cared for her so incredibly well. They really seem to understand (and indulge) her! Knowing that Pig’s happy, settled and well looked after takes away so much anxiety when I’m away. It’s a great service and excellent value for money.
It's always reassuring to go away and know that our Labradoodle is always well cared for by PetStay. The Admin. works well, and all our Dog Carers have been great! I'd thoroughly recommend PetStay, FAR better than Kennels!
Once again Uri and Nula had a wonderful time with Arthur and Janet. It is lovely to go away and know they are in such good hands.Arthur and Janet sent us regular updates,so we knew they were OK.Arthur and Janet are such lovely people and would highly recommend them .
This was my first time using PetStay and I'm happy to say it was a very positive experience. It was simple and straightforward to sign up and pay and a carer was located very quickly. I was impressed at how thorough the process was despite the speed with which it was conducted and this was all very reassuring. Meeting the carer for the first time allayed many of my concerns - my dog had never boarded elsewhere and so I was somewhat anxious to begin with but her regular Whatsapp updates really put my mind at ease and allowed me to fully enjoy my break away. Many thanks to Lauren and of course the lovely carer.
Beware, if your dog doesn’t settle, this is a very expensive option. After paying an initial ‘arrangement’ fee of £153 & then an additional £221 (in cash!) for a stay, our young dog didn’t settle and a member of our family collected the dog on day 4. £180 was returned to us, but all in all, that 4 day stay cost us £282. The arrangement fee is non refundable & an excellent way for someone to make money. Pity they couldn’t have been more flexible with their refund policy. Poor show.
We used Petstay for the first time and couldn't be happier with the experience. Sheena and her family looked after Goga like she was their own and we are so grateful for that. Sheena was great at keeping us updated with how Goga was doing and sending pictures of her during her stay so we knew she was well looked after and in great hands. Goga is a rescue dog and can be quite timid at times but made herself right at home and when we came to collect her I am not sure she wanted to leave. Would highly recommend Petstay and Sheena!!
Our experience with PetStay could not have gone better. We were unbelievably nervous about leaving our boy for the first time since having him but Dee & Fred made us feel so relaxed and happy that Arlo would be in their trustworthy hands. Arlo had a great time too with lots of new adventurous fun walks and was even relaxed enough to make himself comfortable sleeping upside down on Dee & Fred’s sofa! We will 100% be returning to PetStay for future short stays.
rita had a fabulous spoilt week, and was looked after at least as we could have, so many compliments, so thank you natasha and daughter's you were really great xx
