I have been using HOBO MX2301A loggers for about a year now and they work great, until they don't. Recently, a unit simply died, taking all the irreplaceable data with it. The unit was placed in a protected environment, it was not exposed to water or direct sunlight. Very disappointing.

The Hobo temperature data loggers have worked reliably for years in my garden, and they have backed up their products with great customer support. If I had a larger enterprise, I would trust and use Onset.

Good service! A little slow to send the package perhaps because of the proprietary nature of the cabling. That is my only concern! We have purchased many replacement cables due to normal wear and tear in our monitoring network over the past 18 months (in a river system). We have now installed the wires in conduit and the exposed portions are covered in specially designed sheathing to protect against abrasions. Malfunctions due to wire failure has been constant. We have now bought replacement cables to keep on hand. Rewiring broken cables seems not worth paying the extra $200 for a cable and waiting the 3 months it takes to make them. Four stars because they work when in great conditions.

The batteries I ordered for my data logger arrived in short order safe and sound. A couple of things need to be mentioned. The tiny batteries were quite expensive in my opinion, but they work just fine. The shipping department overdid the packaging. The 2 batteries were 1.5" long and about 1/2" wide. The shipping box was 7"x7"x4" full of packing peanuts. A padded shipping envelope would have done the job. I do love my data loggers which have been operating flawlessly for the past 3 years.
