So so grateful for the free access these last few weeks. It has really unlocked valuable information about my family that I wouldn't otherwise have found.
It so nice and also helpful that they have free weekends etc when it is special times I.e mothers day, remembrance day.it certainly encourages to search further into your family and feel so much part if their lives, the history and events of the time. I will say though it was easier last yr when for example you put in a person's name and it came up with all the normal birth/marriage/death but also if there was military records associated with the name etc..
I found it very difficult to navigate through the system. It may have been due to it being a free weekend but it put me off using it again.
It was great searching the 1921 Census.Adding more valuable information to my family tree.
Very user friendly.
I had free access to FindMyPast this weekend, it was great to have free access to the 1921 census. I think I covered most of my family. I also added other information to the family tree, that I have not done before due to the cost, I am an 80 year old pensioner so have limited resources.
Looking for military records could have been made easier if you had a field Regimental Number on your search criteria. I found the record but literally by trial and error and I knew the Regimental Number. This took me 3 hours to find. Should have been far simpler to search when you do have that key bit of information. So i found this very time resourceful and it shouldn't have been! ON 14/11/24 - YES TRIED THAT METHOD AND STILL DOES NOT WORK. I KNOW ITS THE CORRECT DETAILS AS FOUUND ON ANCESTRY
Thanks to FMP being free for the weekend I found out lots of fascinating info in the 1921 Census & 1939 Register. It was easy to find and well laid out. I may subscribe in the future if they ever have a discounted promotion.
Easy to search
Searching is easy, there are hints and tips and suggested linked records.
A good version of a genealogy program. Some interesting features, but despite filling in loads of info, this one still (in a special offer free trial) still hides information requiring subscription, and doesn't provide any new info I can access. Par for the course, but some good features which worked well.
It may have been user error, but I didn't find any ancestors. All my tree consists of are the 4 generations I have entered. I think the site is predominantly people in England and Wales, as the 1921 census does not include Scotland. It did find my parents' marriage announcement from 1951 in the local paper. However, one hint was a son for my Grandad.... born when he was 8 years old!
I normally use Ancestry and have a annual subscription. But used this weekend to view 1921 census data (but couldn't find my paternal grandparents). I found the interface a bit to "colourful" and didn't like that I couldn't see accepted documents like Ancestry does. Overall the interface worked, but not easily. I'll stick where I am.
Too expensive and should be shared with other platforms
Enjoyed the opportunity to look at family in 1921 census
I found it a bit difficult to navigate between the record and exiting from some document. But overall I found using findmypast a good experience
Lots of records to access and quick and easy to find people
Easy to navigate. Easy to search. Nice presentation
Very easy to use website, easy to find what you are looking for.
I found some interesting information particularly the newspaper reports.
