Findmypast is a homegrown family history company that helps people discover their origins. It started in the UK but now has millions of customers around the world, who use its family records to trace ancestors, build family trees and contact distant relatives.
Good that they had a free trial. However, too expensive to continue with normal membership.
Signed up for free trial then was charged £199.99 even after emailing to cancel. Wrote informing them of 14 day cooling off period as no records looked at after free trial period and email to cancel. Very deceptive and underhand marketing. Will take it further if not fully resolved ASAP.
As this website could be used for free during Remembrance weekend I decided to give it a trial. I have been extremely impressed with the vast amount of information that has been provided with regard to my ancestors. When I have more time I will certainly register and continue with my search.
New user of FMP and so far it has revealed in fairly easy stages a whole new line of family we didn’t know existed. The search abilities are awesome, the hints are sometimes brilliant and the whole thing is utterly addictive.
Easy to use. Great records. I particularly liked the detailed narrative information on the census records

Subscribed to the everything free for 7 days on the condition they had your bank details but I could cancel before it ended. Two days before it expired I cancelled but didn't receive acknowledgement so did it again with same result. On the Friday I received acknowledgement that they had taken the monthly subscription of £24.49, so I contacted them and they refunded the money not acknowledging the fact I had cancelled but to say I had a 14 day cooling off period. The fact I had cancelled surely the money shouldn't have been taken in the first place.

Access to 1921 census and newspaper archives very useful.
I am new to this site, found it fairly easy to use, but still finding my way round, I have used other sites but finding Findmy past slightly simpler.
I have managed to flesh out relatives stories from old newspaper articles which I haven’t had before

I really enjoy using findmypast.com! I have been able to search a large quantity and variety of records that have helped me locating my ancestors. Sometimes, I just look through the records, even after I have found what I've been looking for, because they are so interesting to me! The search options are pretty easy to use, and are really quite self explanatory. I love being able to see the actual records, as well as the transcripts when the writing is a little difficult to read. Thank you to all who have made findmypast records available!

I find it invaluable for working out my very complicated family background. The combination of excellent records alongside historical newspapers have solved more than one confusing mystery! Bigamy in the 1700s found in the newspaper confirmed a suspicion that i could not prove. The customer service is also outstanding!!!
Too expensive. It's a shame really if everything is public knowledge that it is so expensive. Plus I can't go back any more than my gran on mums side as she was adopted

Easy to search records, quite a lot of records to look through from registration , parish records, censuses military etc. makes research interesting and building your family tree easy
