From first phone enquiry to delivery of my cycle they were incredibly helpful in every aspect of the sale and delivery. Any enquiries since the purchased have been handled concisely and professionally. A great service from friendly and informative staff.
Don't get me wrong the Kalkoff bike I bought from 50 cycles is amazing it was the customer service from 50 cycles that let them down they took my money then just mucked me about for weeks.so I would not recommend them to anybody
I just picked up my Kalkhoff from its service and felt as though I rode home on a new bicycle. Lovely! Compared with the shop I have been using up to now - very impressed. The guys are friendly and welcoming, and don't give you the slightly sniffy treatment I have got elsewhere from other "specialist" shops. They like bikes and were happy to talk bikes even with the middle-aged non-specialist. This will be my new regular bike place, for sure.
Good Service. Great Bikes. I have bought two cycles over 5 years from them and wouldn't hesitate to use again. Great Quality Electric Bikes, Very reliable, intuitive and easy to use. These bikes easily deal with very hilly Sheffield. KalKhoff Pro connect S (2010) Focus Thron Impulse Speed.
8 years ago I bought a Kalkhoff Pro ConnectPedelec electric bike and since we live in a hilly area it has been fantastic to use. I charge it up on a Solar panel and have recently purchased a 2nd battery so I can go even further without recharging. Other than one or two punctures I have had no repairs. With this bike hills are flattened and you really enjoy the ride.
We bought a kahlkoff e-bike. It's a great bike and was promptly delivered. We had to assemble it ourselves but that was fairly straightforward. We haven't used after sales service as we haven't needed it.
Having ordered and paid online for the bike, on arrival there were a number of problems, obviously due to poor inspection at the time of dispatch. I returned the bike to the shop in Bristol (20 miles away) and a refund was agreed. I was very disappointed to discover that £30 had been retained by the company, apparently for transport costs. I thought this unfair as delivery was supposed to be free and I had returned the bike myself. Despite a number of appeals the company retained the money. I now own a Freego electric bike.
I am delighted with my bike and back to riding regularly. I bought during a change over of staff in the shop and the transition went well my bike was built and ready to pick as planned. The invoicing process was very confusing and I received a number of versions due to having made multiple payments none of which I fully understood. I rmain happy with the service I received and like dealing with Louis and his new colleague in th Bristol shop.
Great service and communications from the team, thanks
My Kalkhoff Agattu i7 HS is the real deal in electric bikes, it will do 45 genuine miles here in the Shetland Islands in very strong headwinds and hilly roads in highest constant power setting, which i am very happy with. The Agattu to me is the most practical in The Kalkhoff range, not the best looking, but more versatile to cycle due to step thru, no worries with this bike.
I’m English but living in France. 50cycles seemed to have a good reputation so earlier this year I purchased my Kalkhoff i8 Include Premium and it duly arrived in a big box, safe and sound. Just recently I discovered that the wire from the control panel and the control ring was broken at the connection. How this happened I have no idea. Anyway I contacted 50cycles and they sent me a replacement which I fitted myself (pretty easy). From sending the broken one back and receiving the new one took just one week. Excellent service. ps. If this wire breaks then the whole bike is disabled so keep a careful watch out for this and make sure you check it.
Excellent pre and post sales service. You can buy with confidence, knowing that they will provide great after sales service. A great range of high quality bikes, competitively priced and a very helpful and knowledgeable team.
Really happy with the more budget ebike that I bought several months ago. A 50 Cycles “Beat Bike” - make in German factory that also makes Raleigh and much more expensive bikes. Has made my return to cycling at age of 63 years much easier as I now live in more hilly area. A bit of a bone shaker on our rough roads as no suspension. A very enjoyable summer exploring our new area after retiring to new house. Only gripe - bike was supplied with a useless, really cheap pump attached to the rear carrier. Spoke to 50 Cycles.Com - they said that the bike is not advertised as being supplied with a pump! -they could only send me the same pump as replacement. I had to buy a decent one myself.
Developed a fault with gears on ebike within a couple of hundred miles of riding. Sheen shop (now closed) were hugely unhelpful and suggested it was because I wasn't riding the bike 'properly ' or that I had damaged it. Don't buy from 50cycles.
good customer service and great bike :)
The initial purchase was fine but then within a few weeks the fixing that held the handlebar height loosened, and I needed a special star alan key to tighten it. I was able to order a same day delivery on Amazon which was fine, and then tighten it... but 2-3 weeks later the same thing happened. I called 50 cycles, but got through to the answering service, and then when 50 cycles called me I wasn't available, and then when I managed to call them back and eventually get through a few weeks later, they told me " oh yes that's to be expected, you should tighten up fixings on a regular basis". I'm thinking "oh really, for a £2000 bike, and I don't have to do that on my normal £200 bike I've been commuting on for the last 3 years". Anyway I continued tightening up the fixings every few weeks (even had the mechanic at our onsite bike shop tighten it too) and in between my saddle came off TWICE while I was cycling - so that was another fixing I need to tighten on a regular basis. Eventually 5-6 months later the fixing has been overused, not fit for purpose and now can't be tightened. I cycled my bike the 30 minute journey into the shop to get it fixed, but they were unable to as they needed a part, and I was unable to leave it there and take away a "temporary bike" while they fixed. Anyway that was 7 days ago, and just waiting for the part to come in and for the bike to be fixed - hoping to hear soon and get this resolved. I don't love the answering service, as I work full time, and when I want to phone someone to speak to them I have 5 minutes...Apart from that I love the Kalkhoff Agattu bike - the poor engineering is just not something I would expect from a £2000+ German product. Maybe I just got unlucky with a faulty part.
Good advice over the phone and bike arrived within a few days, had the offer also of trying out the bike in the Bristol shop.
I would give you 5 stars but for the phone answering system you use which I hate. I appreciate you do not operate like a shop, so making an appointment in advance is probably the best way of ensuring you are likely to be seen by an appropriate person on arrival, BUT phoning you is a nightmare having to go through a charming sounding operator at a 'call centre' who then has to pass messages to the branch & person you want to speak to in the first place- - - - then having to wait, sometimes for several days, for that person to come back to you. Sorry , but it is not the best way to foster outstanding 'Customer Relations' in line with the otherwise good services provided by 50Cycles. Another, but a small point is that there seems to be a bit of lack of communication between the offices & the workshop. I arrived by appointment to collect my new Beat Bike which the office didn't seem to realize had already been prepared by the workshop for me. In spite of these comments, I would recommend 50Cycles to everyone.
No problems at all and very helpful chap on the other end of the phone.
These two bikes (trapezoid integrale 11 speed) are the latest purchases I have made from 50 Cycles. The service was excellent as there were some modifications I needed to make them the bikes for us. This included changing the rear carriers fo something worthy of a town bike and replacing seat posts with Aggatu suspension posts. This was done free of charge so I was well pleased with that. So the service and customer relations excellent. With regard the bikes I think Kalkhoff need to rethink a few things: 1 the tyres are too wide and knobbly and create a lot of drag, replaced these wth Scwalbe supreme 28 / 1.60 and now easier ride. 2 replaced the self lifting rear stand as trying to reverse the bikes into a parking position hopeless with the stand flipping up all the time, now much easier. 3 replaced the saddles with something a little more comfortable. Now my wife and I have two nice town bikes. They are great in the South of France for the beach as well as there is no chain to worry about with any sand and a quick hose down does the trick. Maintenance is easy and quickly done each week. All in all we are pleased with the bikes and look forward to some years of trouble free riding unless a new model comes out!!!!
