Staff at Bristol and Loughborough polite and courteous, but bike has had to go back several times, usually at my expense, for many faults and often I was without the bike for several weeks waiting for it's return. I would not trade with 50cycles again. Brian
Helpful advice, opportunity to try various electric bikes. Competitive price for well equipped bike.
As you would hope! Had the product we wanted (compact electric Kalkhoff Sahel), reserved online and Paul at the Bristol store was extremely helpful. Not that easy to park at the back of the store but eventually found it. Bikes arrived within 48hrs and assembly pretty straightforward- took me back 50 years!
We had problems with one of the bikes which arrived damaged, along with a damaged battery - we informed 50cycles but they did not send us another one. The battery failed and it took us some time to get them to replace it under the guarantee. We have only had the bikes for a little over 2 years and the battery on the other bike has now failed and a new one will cost nearly £400 - we are not very happy. I am unable to afford a battery at this time so riding the bike is difficult, being so heavy.
I have just received by bike back after 5 weeks in for a warranty repair on the 8 speed hub gear - not impressed as I had to phone for progress. This 5week delay has cost me ~ £100 in diesel costs for my commute together with the associated traffic queues in Bristol. This was the second hub failure following an initial repair 7 and 1/2 months earlier. My confidence in an otherwise fantastic electric bike is starting to fade.
good price. great service.
Bought a Kalkhoff hybrid bike rather than an electric bike but the delivery service was 100% what it was supposed to be. Good communication about delivery from point of order and everything was as promised. Bike packed so well so that all I had to do was swivel handlebars and screw on pedals before going for a ride. Everything was perfect. And I'm delighted with the bike too!
Excellent customer service
Great to get back on a bike Really helps iron out the hills John
I bought my electric bike from them and they have been fantastic at sorting out any problems that have come up really happy with the bike and the after sales team. They even got back to me out of hours when I had the wrong model bike delivered.
50Cycles sell good quality bikes, however let customers down by poor service and support setup. To get a repair/service, bike needs to be booked in, then sent to their central depot, with minimum 1 week turn around - in my two times experience this has been longer than two weeks, having to chase for update/timelines with both times excuses for delays around staff being away at events. Customers want service, not excuses. I now buy from another retailer, as they offer much better service, booked same day service and repairs, used twice with no issues. 50Cycles you have to sort out your support if you want your customers to stay with you.
Very helpful, great product, happy to let you try out the different models
These electric bike’s are the best on the market ‘ they are expensive but you get what you pay for . I’ve had mine for 5 years and it’s been very reliable and the battery is still going strong ‘ I would recommend them 😉
Having paid £5200 for two bikes you’d have expected top customer service. No. First, I was told the bikes would be delivered boxed up and all I would have to do was adjust the handlebars. No. The bikes needed handlebars, seats, seat posts, and pedals all to be fitted or adjusted. With no tools provided. I’m not a bike builder so did the best I could. Cannot understand at these prices why 50 cycles don’t deliver and set up. Anyway. Clearly I didn’t fit one of the pedals properly. After 50 miles it sheared from the crank. 50 Cycles did, to their credit, post me a new crank. And a used pedal. I asked for a new pedal and was told I’d have to buy one. So that’s the level of service you get. Needless to say when I fitted out the bikes with Ortlieb panniers and bags I went elsewhere.
We brought 2 bikes from 50 Cycles last year. The after service was brilliant and the whole experience of purchasing your bike was flawless.
50 Cycles have been brilliant from the start, online and over the phone. I was taken through the various options when I visited their showroom in Loughborough and after going home to think it over (given the investment) I phoned back to see what deal I could get. They were very flexible on price and surprisingly were happy to sell me my new Kalkhoff Integrale 10 for what I wanted to pay. The deal was struck together with 2 free services. After sales service has also proved excellent and I am just about to take the bike in for its second service (again no problems booking this). And of course you get a top quality German made ebike which copes really well in the Derbyshire hills where I live.
Good service on the ball
Very poor after sales service I had to push issues I had with my Kalkhof Bike (electric £3k) over many weeks. Not once did Joe or Anthony get on the front foot and try to help. Mechanics in London at the time were non-existent*. There was no will whatsoever to keep me engaged or give me any reason to retain any shred of loyalty to the firm. A truly hit-and-run sales experience. Stick to the Sticks 50 C. BTW I eventually got help from the very excellent Fully Charged eBike store at London Bridge. London being arguably the capital of biking you'd think a major player especially in th electric bike market would have central london facilities; NO this crowd, a visit once every two weeks by a mec. to Twickenham? Come on, get real 50 cycling disasters.
I bought my Kalkhoff from the Shoreham store in June 2016. I had visited other bike stores to look at E-bikes, but received nothing like the service I had from 50cycles. Charles, the manager talked through with me my needs , and then allowed me to take out a demonstrator for a long test ride. From the moment I picked up my bike a couple of days later, I absolutely loved it, and now 16 months on, I still look for excuses to take it out for a ride. The difference it makes riding the the hills of Brighton and the Sussex countryside is a real treat for these 71 year old knees. I have done far more miles than I would have done on my trusty old Scott. The after sales has been excellent as well, Any adjustments, minor servicing etc , Charles has sorted on the spot whenever I have turned up unannounced. I wouldn’t go anywhere else when I come to upgrade my machine!
Made the mistake of buying a Kalkhoff over the internet based on reviews and not by a test ride. The bike is well engineered, but, as an electric bike it is USELESS and, therefore, very overpriced. Apart from a noticeable kick with the first few peddles when starting off, any assistance it gives is almost unnoticeable. I would guess that at best it might reduce the effort of cycling by 3%. Was like that from new. Have had it about 5-years now, but I will certainly never waste money on buying another battery for it. Apart from that, I have no real experience, for good or bad, about 50cycles as a Company.
