Bought an electric BH bike from 50cycles in summer 2020. Fast forward one year and the battery is completely ruined by water damage, which is presumably a manufacturing fault. Neither 50cycles or BH bikes want to take any responsibility for this; effectively refusing to honour the warranty. If both companies expended the same amount of energy supporting me as they did trying to get out of taking responsibility, then the issue could have been resolved easily. This is the actual response I received from 50cycles when I pushed it that they should honour the warranty: “give me a break if you would like a new bike i can help you out but there is nothing i can do for a bike i know nothing about.” I spent £2500 on this bike, and 50cycles response is that I buy a new bike from them, when they won’t lift a finger to honour the warranty on my existing bike. I have a receipt for the bike which I sent to them so the fact they are questioning that they sold me the bike is pathetic. Worst customer service I’ve ever received, if you can actually call this customer service. I now need to spend up to £1000 to replace the battery at my own expanse, and BH bike parts are impossible to find in the UK. Both 50cycles and BH bikes have gone completely silent when I’ve even asked them where I can source a battery at my own expense. 50cycles are an absolute joke of a company. Do not go anywhere near them or any company affiliated with them. Worst mistake I ever made was buying a bike from this company.
I purchased an electric bike from 50 cycles 18 months ago and must say it has changed my life as i was suffering from Angina and the gentle exercise as cured by Diabetes and Angina whilst losing 3 stone. Thank you so much 50cycles
I ordered a BH e-bike ‘unseen’ from 50cycles via their website and phone communications. On delivery it was not what I had hoped for. Probably a good bike but not a mountain bike. I was promised a refund after much haggling and accordingly returned the bike, next working day. They never paid the promised refund. I won a County Court judgement against them which they ignored. When the Bailiffs attended the premises they were told that the business had closed and they found no inventory of value. Including court and bailiff costs I lost well over £3000. In the course of my research I found many disturbing articles on the internet about 50cycles and the owner/director, including some on Trustpilot and was also at the receiving end of a very angry phone call from the owner/director followed by an aggressive e-mail. Thus I, personally, could never do any future business with the owner/director or any future company that he owns until he has paid the money he and 50cycles owes me and, obviously, would not recommend that others did.
Ordered ebike but this was not delivered by 50Electric Bikes CLB. They had promised delivery in Jan 2021, did not keep that promise, made several new promises for delivery but not kept any. I requested refund, in line with their terms and conditions, in early April. Scott Snaith, Director, had promised to refund but has not done that and has not bothered to reply to emails after my request for refund. I have now issued a refund claim through the County Court but 50 Electric Bikes has not responded to the Court. As an update, 50 Electric Bikes has now refunded me. I do hope that they have learned a lesson and that all this was not quite necessary.
I recently purchased an Electric scooter for my son to travel to school. Really pleased with my purchase. The scooter is very solid, it reaches the top speed of 20kph. It comes with front and rear lights and a stand. The battery seems really good and only need charging every few days. Excellent customer service from Mark, who answers any questions you have very promptly.
Very happy with my purchase from 50cycles the service and the recommendation from Mark were brilliant, the bike he recommended was all what he said it was and more,I really am happy with the Atom X he recommended, after service was excellent would definitely recommend 50cycles.
Gave me a good deal on my older e-Bike against a new one. Communication was excellent - I had a reply to any email queries usually within the hour. I would definitely say they look after their customers.
Top service prompt delivery- early even and good part exchange deal. Would deal again aswith them and strong recommendation to anyone in the market for an f bike. CK
I recently bought a BH Core e-bike from 50 cycles. This is my third e-bike from them, and by far the best. The frame is rigid, very sporty and very responsive, so this is not a commuting bike. For someone like me, in my late 70s, and a serious racer many decades ago, it is perfect. There are four levels of pedal assist but I find that the 11-cassette allows me to stay on the lowest and use the gears. I live in North Devon where we have some serious hills. It is excellent value for money, and I thoroughly recommend it, although I think, for the price, BH could have fitted a handlebar mounted indicator of the usual things - speed, time, distance, average, battery level etc. All there is is a central push-button thing to change the power level and which indicates battery level. On the other hand, for about £20, I bought my own indicator so I get to know what I want!
Our two new E-bikes are perfect, we love everything about them. The care and guidance we received in choosing them from 50 cycles was second to none. We have complete confidence in this company and would recommend them to anyone.
Having found that this is a new company using a previous company's web site, I can only comment on the lack of response to my enquires. I accepted poor response during the pandemic lockdown, but still had great difficulties getting any response when I tried again after they were clearly trading again. They have now explained they had new systems, and I wish them well, but my experience was not good. Their answer is that I go to the manufacturer direct. If the new company had replied to my various efforts to contact them, my review would not have been so critical.
Please do not buy from this company. My mum brought an electric bike in Shoreham & the pedals were put on the wrong sides, which could have caused an extremely serious accident. When she contacted the owner to notify him of this he was extremely rude & refused to accept any responsibility & put the phone down on her. It seems that they are happy to take your money but following purchase 0 customer service.
I've had a couple of bikes from 50 Cycles in the last five or six years, the latests as part exchange for the previous one. Efficient, with good customer care and communication. Technicians are very skilled and the occasional repairs needed have been done quickly and fixed the problem. I'm unlikely to try another retailer with products and service like this.
50cycles are wonderful until they get your money. Appalling after sales. Read responses to other poor reviews to get the measure of this company. Also note 50cycles went into liquidation and are now trading again. They will accept no responsibility for expenses incurred rectifying problems caused by negligent construction of my bike in the Shoreham branch.
Very highly recommended. The service was courteous, efficient, speedy and good humoured. Nothing seemed too much trouble. I am delighted that I found them and found their expertise and knowledge exemplary.
Great company, great service, lovely new bike. Can't recommend more highly
Mark was extremely efficient following my initial enquiry. At which point he was very helpful in suggesting a few options based around my described needs and wants. We did have a hiccup with the purchase of the initial bike selected. However Mark was extremely professional in dealing with the problem. The bike eventually purchased arrived on next day delivery. Is of fantastic quality and anyone seeking the purchase of an ebike wouldn't go far wrong with 50 cycles.com.
I recently bought a beautiful second hand Kalkhoff Pro Connect bike from 50 Cycles in Loughborough. The service was excellent and despite the dislocation of lockdown Mark dealt with all my queries very competently and politely. The bike looks virtually new although Mark suggested I upgrade the battery, which I did on very attractive terms. Delivery was included in the price, a fraction of the full retail incidentally, so all in all a very happy experience.
I spoke to Scott at 50Cycles about a pre-0wned Kalkhoff Agutti 8 listed for sale. I was uncertain about style of bike as I had in mind a lighter road-bike but thought I should try this initially. He described it as lightly used and in very good condition so I proceeded to purchase. This was on a Saturday, he told me it would be despatched on the Monday for delivery on Tuesday. It arrived on the Tuesday morning well boxed and as described. Difficult to tell it was not new. The movement restrictions due to Covid 19 have limited my use to very local journeys but pleased with it. I really want it to use on longer trips with my clubmates but that is now on hold. I have ridden bikes for 75 years plus and still use my un-powered bike for my permitted daily exercise session.
I been riding e-bikes some years now and this latest bike is my sixth one I brought,I don't own a car I mainly use my bikes for commuting to work and when off work go out rides, this is my sixth bike had bike of local dealer which they went bust and then I brought one from BMW e-bikes I got problem with battery on the BMW sent to be fix at Battery world then I using my Scott bike then that broke then I had no bike to use for work I got in touch 50 cycles which used in pass I needed new bike ordered one and they managed get delivered next day which I grateful I would never got bike delivered that quickly from any other dealer went back to 50 cycles this is latest bike is my fourth one I had bought from them.I would like to add were the the law on e-bikes top speed 15.5 miles I recond it ajust 20 miles hour keep up traffic in built up area. Since getting this bike I have done over 150 miles that's using for work and going out on leisure rides longest one done covered 18 miles in one hour fourteen minutes, I optimistic about the 8 gears on the bike the most I use 6 in eco mode average 15 to 16 miles hour and only 7,8 gears when going down hill I'm getting to love this bike
