This was the second time now, in I think 5 or 6 years without any warning I was locked out of my account. This is an account that was originally labelled as a "Lifetime Account." I know businesses will do what they want or have their questionable practices. But I do not want to be part of that kind of a business. Even though it was never originally stipulated under the "Lifetime Account" I was fine with the maintenance fee if Zoolz went about it in a better, more fair way. For example, a month's notice or even a week! Without threats and without sudden lockouts. And I was happy to pay the $20 bucks or whatever it was, I understand we have to support the system somehow. But the way they handled it was ridiculous and completely unprofessional. And this second time is the final time. I told them I no longer want the Zoolz account. However, I have been REASONABLY requesting temporary access so that I could simply compare my local files to my Zoolz backup and then I will manually delete the files and account and be done with them. Now this is going on maybe the 4th or 5th email making this request. All they do when writing me back is repeat themselves like robots. "You need to pay a maintenance fee to have your account back, otherwise we delete your files." Zoolz is HORRIBLE and UNPROFESSIONAL. Steer clear. If you have a modern plan, you may not experience this. But as somebody who is on a legacy plan, you get to see how they truly treat people by stories like mine, maybe you'd want to take your business elsewhere.
From the beginning when I bought a "lifetime subscription" on one of their sales many years ago, the intentionally crippled access to the service, by allowing only browser access to data or their own backup software. Linux was not supported only windows - they were miles behind their competition. Now it turns our, that they apply pressure to customers, by locking up their data by inactivating their account, and threaten to delete it, if they don't buy a subscription in 30 days.
I bought a "Lifetime" subscription to Zoolz and they're now cancelling my account unless I pay them yearly maintenance. SCAM.
Waste of money and not good support. Do not purchase any life plan at Zoolz or BigMind. They will slowly add ads to your account and force it to add on for maintenance plans (annual). After the plan expires, your lifetime account will also be suspended if you do not renew it. (From my experience). If you try to contact them support will reply after repeated reminders.

They pull off this trick every year on their lifetime customers. I still have the mails from 2020 and 2021. Then they apologised. But they keep trying. They SO very much regret ever sellling lifetime subscriptions. Don't ever purchase a subscription at Zoolz. Stay away from it, by all means! I'm now battling my yearly fight with Zoolz again!
Yes, yet another "lifetime" account user. Few days ago received a letter like this: "bla bla... account suspended... bla bla... pay us or your data will be deleted in 30 days... bla bla" What I would expected from honest company is letter like this: "bla bla... pay us or your account >>will be suspended<< in 30 days and data will be deleted after those 30 days... bla bla". This approach has different names and it's already mentioned here numerous times. Stay away from this company. When buying a cheap online storage next time from some unknown/different name, double check whether it has any relation with Zoolz (or BigMind, or who knows what other name).
Zero stars if I could - bought a lifetime contract which now needs an annual "maintenance plan" which was not previously needed nor entered into when the contract was bought.
4 years ago I bought a lifetime subscription. Now they have deactivated my account and threaten to delete my data on the cloud. That is nice! I cannot access my data unless I pay for a maintenance subscription! This is just blackmail! Zoolz is not a company where you want to have your data.
I have been caught in the same net as many other writers. The "monthly maintenance plan", which I never purchased, has "expired" on my lifetime 1TB licence purchased in 2018. I'm not concerned about my data because I use Zoolz only as a backup. I am concerned about the dishonest business practices being exposed and, from some suggestions here, will argue for a refund if the terms of my purchase will not be honoured.
Joined about 7-8 years ago, also on a 'lifetime subscription.' Got a notification a few years on asking for money to continue the 'maintenance plan.' (read: keeping my lifetime subscription alive.) Gave me some song and dance about how there was pressure on fees for storage, etc, etc, (read: we couldn't manage our business plan.) I stated 'my money back,' or un-suspend my account. They acquiesced, yet had the stones to come looking for money yesterday. Again, not my problem; we'll see what happens.
Had 2 years of lifetime before my lifetime deal ended.
Like many other people I also got my "lifetime" 1TB account blocked all of a sudden without any early warning. They threaten to delete all of my data in 30 days if not paying extra money for a fake "maintenance plan", but I don't give a damn because luckily I have copies of that data in others places. This bad thing already happened a few years ago when I paid to unblock my account which they intentionally made to malfunction, so to make an excuse to require paid technical assistance. Now they have doubled the amount of money in comparison to the previous extortion in the past. In a few words, these people are bad swindlers who deserve a lawsuit from all their swindled customers.
I bought Zoolz lifetime cloud service a few years ago.. All was going fine but today i found their email that they are gonna delete my account if I don't pay them a monthly maintenance fee. What the heck is this! Do not trust them, do not buy their cloud service ever, because who knows in future what else they would be demanding from you. They are just blackmailers.

Bought a lifetime account in 2017,i am now being forced to pay for a maintenance fee yearly to keep the account running. How can they sell it as lifetime yet force you to pay a maintenance fee or they threaten you with account deletion. Stay well away from this company there advertising is a con.
Bought I lifetime service - now they they want extra money and force to renew a maintenance plan. Account is suspended. They threaten to delete data in the next 30 days, if I do not renew. Totally untrustworthy. The do not fullfill their contract.
Like a lot of people, I have a lifetime account and received an email saying my account is suspended. When I tried to find out why the live chat person said it was due to my maintenance account expiring (I have never used or wanted this), funny enough the live chat person started to ignore my questions and then suddenly 'disappeared'. I am now unable to access to retrieve my files and to do so I will need to pay for a years' worth of maintenance, there was no previous email to warn of this and straight to suspended account, there was no previous warning. Before Zoolz says they did send previous warning emails I would like to say that I have checked my emails, including retrieving deleted emails and no such email was ever sent. It would seem that Zoolz have changed their operating model and are targeting lifetime accounts to squeeze money from people or if they unwilling to pay will purposely make their service unusable and therefore you will leave, but I suspect this is the intention of this practice from Zoolz. If you have a lifetime plan, get your files ASAP otherwise they will make you pay to get further access. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone and anyone with a lifetime account get out before you are locked out.
In 2019 I bought their 2TB LIFETIME backupstorage plan. Today I got a cancellation notice, my accountdatas stopped working, my backupdatas are not accessible anymore, and they want me to pay a yearly free from now on, to regain access to my backups and further use their services. I will not do this. I call this fraud and extortion. Stay away from this company and their successors under different names (BigMind, Genie9) !
The company has terminated plenty of accounts after a campaign of promotional "lifetime" subscription. The offered cloud solution was basic, and not particularly performing, but I stored some useful resources there. Then, without much warning, they unilaterally terminated my subscription, proposing a 1year discount on a yearly paid option. I think that with all the injured parties, it would have been easy to inflict a lawsuit on them from which they would not have recovered! Instead, they keep doing their crap (BigMind...) They clame "THE MOST AFFORDABLE CLOUD BACKUP IN THE WORLD". On which basis? See others, evaluate the capabilities... Clearly, other solutions for work-in-cloud are superior. Polarbackup is way more affordable for tape solution while better complying with the GDPR!
