I've bought two ukuleles from SUS (so far) and it has been a great experience both times. Staff have always taken time to help navigate the range of ukuleles and allowed me time to go back and forth between them as I gradually work out my preferences between them, and I have never felt even the slightest push to tip me in favour of a more expensive ukulele (or to push me outside my budget). I would (and have many times) whole-heartedly recommend SUS as the place to go to get a ukulele!

After watching quite a few of SUS's YouTube videos I made a couple of enquiries by email. Alex responded promptly both times & was very helpful, providing me with links to his recommendations within my budget. After making my order online Phil phoned me and I was able to sort out a few last minute queries. I actually received the Ukulele the next day, amazingly, and I am very happy with my purchase! I discovered SUS via their very excellent and informative YouTube videos (led by Alex). One advantage that they have over US-based ukulele retailers is that they have a different perspective when it comes to ukes we should know about--they also stock items that are not yet on the radar of US retailers. I think SUS does a really good job of seeking out and discovering great ukulele luthiers and showcasing what they have to offer. I feel like my knowledge of 'what's out there' has expanded a great deal, thanks to them. I have made 3 purchases, and my customer experiences have been top notch. They are not only knowledgeable, but very responsive and genuinely want to make sure their customers are happy. Interacting with them is a pleasure, and I believe they really and truly CARE. For two out of the 3 purchases, the uke arrived to the US incredibly fast. In fact, the uke I received from them yesterday arrived just two days after purchase! That's as fast (or even faster!) than it takes to ship across states within the continental US. One of the packages took longer to arrive because it got caught up in customs. HOWEVER, Rob was there for me the entire way, communicating on my behalf with UPS/customs to ensure that the package made its way over to me. The SUS team are lovely people. Don't hesitate to explore what they have to offer and buy from them if you find a uke that inspires you! You can definitely count on them.

Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant! Rob responded to my initial enquiries super fast and within a few hours had set up a zoom with Phil to compare and contrast a few Ukuleles. The team are super knowledgeable and honest - and my new instrument arrived by courier safe and sound the next day. I’ll be back!

Amend to my previous review, which may have been a bit hasty. Rob the Store owner did call to discuss options to resolve and in fairness this was above and beyond what I have experienced with other musical retailers.

The only thing better than Alex's review videos is actually purchasing a ukulele from him and the team at SUS. Great communication and spot on advice throughout the process. They will definitely get more of my business. And yes.....Alex is as nice as he appears on YouTube!!

Very knowledgeable and helpful team, both Alex's and the Southern Ukulele Store YouTube channels are informative, and highly recommended, too. Called to verify method of payment and a few other details and after just a brief exchange was very happy that I was doing the right thing, then sadly my card was declined by my bank, but was able to ring back later as they'd agreed to put my purchase to one side until I could get back to them.

I was somewhat hesitant in ordering from the UK because of shipping. My concern was unfounded. Alex and Rob were a delight to work with. My Millar Uke arrived in 2 days safe and sound. The Miller is my favorite use. I have 5 more, all more expensive, but they can't compare to the Millar. SUS is a great store to order from.

Was pleased to receive my first ever Ukulele, Anuenue U2, safely after transport to Northern Ireland. I wish I had bought one many years ago before retirement. I enjoyed the many instrument review videos on the SUS site and they were crucial in deciding which model to get - my first choice disappearing into ‘no stock’ while pontificating 😳 The second choice was quickly ordered 😂 I will keep watching the videos as I hope to justify another but better ukulele in the future when I improve.

Over the past five years I have bought several ukuleles from SUS and they have never been anything other than exactly what I wanted at the time - even though I live too far away to buy them in person. This is largely due to SUS’s excellent YouTube reviews of the instruments in their shop, as well as their willingness to take time to answer queries over the phone. My most recent purchases have been the whole set (soprano, concert and tenor) of Kala’s solid Bamboo ukes; originally I purchased the soprano and concert ukes but I was so impressed with the mellow sound, the clean and bright appearance and Kala’s attention to detail with the contrasting black tuners, nut and saddle, that I was unable to resist the temptation to buy the tenor - and I’m so glad I did! Even though I’m over 300 miles away, I know that I can rely on the SUS.

I have bought a couple of amazing Romero Creations instruments now from Rob, and the team at Southern Uke. Always a great experience, they are really helpful, genuinely engaged and very customer focused. Lovin your work!

Just received my Ohana Sk28 vintage nunes style soprano. My first venture away from Amazon,and what a difference buying from those that know. Maybe I'll never do my new ukulele justice ,but what a gorgeous ukulele and all set up ready to play. Without doubt i'll be back for more. Many thanks SUS got my eye already on another,just need to save a few more pounds for my next purchase.

I thank you SUS for such excellent service over the purchase of my Flight ET tenor ukelele.Alex and his staff were extremely helpful in dealing with my barrage of questions and I am delighted with my new instrument,beautifully made and sounds lovely. Thank you for your recommendation Alex and for converting it to left handed. The whole process of ordering the ukelele and great little Flight amplifier and delivery was extremely easy and I will certainly make SUS my first port of call for my future ukelele/accessory needs. My uke (Kala KA-SSTU-TE) arrived safely only about 30 hours after I put in the order. It was very well-packed indeed, in multiple layers of bubble-wrap, with cardboard and newspaper packing, and inside its case within that. I’m always reluctant to buy a musical instrument on-line, as I think one should really see and hear the actual example before buying it, but in this case I had already tried this model, as I had found one elsewhere, but it had a fault which meant it had to be returned, and that dealer did not have another tenor uke of any type. So I was lucky to find SUS had the same model, and it was even considerably discounted! It was perfectly adjusted and more or less in tune on arrival. It is a lovely instrument and I am enjoying it. I look forward to visiting the SUS shop some time. Thanks again SUS for the excellent service.

I made a long detour to visit the shop and then ran out of time and made a hasty decision to purchase a tenor. It was when I got home that I realised my error. I really should have bought the concert Was it a problem? No. An exchange was made by courier services (recommended by Rob) and the appropriate refund concluded. Just excellent.
