Just a salt delivery! What can go wrong with that?

We recently had our softener re-installed at our new house and I’m so impressed by the standard of service. It was easy to schedule the installation and, even though it took two visits to compete due to a pretty complex set up, the experience was brilliant. Liam very quickly understood what we wanted to achieve and how best to approach it, he worked quietly and tidily, he answered questions competently, and he gave us clear instructions for use and the overall set up. He also kept in direct contact in advance of and between visits, answering questions and so we knew when to expect him. I can’t recommend Harvey’s (and Liam as your installation engineer) highly enough.

My only problem is that the blocks are much more expensive than tablets

Salt sent to wrong address (to the new address of lady who used to live here). After salt delivered I then received a 2nd delivery of salt this time of mini salt that I don’t use. Still waiting for Harvey’s to realise and organise pick up.

The installation carried out by Hayden was first class, very professional and clean. Highly recommend Hayden. The sales carried out by Graham was great. Overall a great product and feeling the difference with the Harvey Arc water softener and water filter that was installed.

I have used a Harvey’s water softener and so for many years and have absolutely no complaints. It does what it says on the tin.

There should be a loyalty system where customers earn points for orders made which earn a discount on future orders as the Harvey water softeners are a lifetime use.

The service engineer treated me like his apprentice and asked me to do half the work myself like cleaning, throwing away rubbish etc., still left a mess behind for me to clean up afterwards, because he was in a hurry to finish and go somewhere else, and he was keep saying "lets do the payment" without even giving me a chance to check if the work was done to my satisfaction which is to fix the problem with the softener. He keep saying that if it leaks again, I have 3 months warranty for his work and told me not to worry about checking the repair work quality and badgering me for payment. I would have been happy to help if you haven't charged me £200+ for a product that supposed to last 20 years with no service required but started to leak less than 6 years in.

Harveys are good if you are just installing your machine and run it a few years, but I had major problems with the company when mine stopped working properly. The only star they deserve is for sending an engineer every time, but usually you wait a couple of weeks for one to be available. So far I had THREE engineer visits in less than two months for the same issue. The engineers just did not believe anything I said and kept doing a shoddy job. I complained of hard water and a noise that was made when my unit regenerated. They booked me in for the servicing, diagnosed a couple of faults which they fixed, but my problems did not disappear. The engineer even told me that the noise was normal, even though it was not there for 5 years prior. I then called again, this time with the added issue that the softener would not stop regenerating, I felt the water was still not right and the noise persisted. There was also a leak from one of the pipes which they fixed. All they then did was reset the machine, did not even get it out to check and fobbed me off again that the machine would never make such a noise and 'the water is soft'. Then I started keeping a diary, bought some testing strips which showed the water was on the border of being hard/just about soft. Not the kind of water I had when I first bought the machine. A third engineer visit was booked, and I called beforehand to pass on the exact nature and frequency of the issues again. He took out the machine and diagnosed another fault, which makes me question why it wasn't diagnosed to begin with and did I perhaps not receive a FULL servicing on my first and second visits as paid for? The explanation now was that this particular issues could lead to problems with pressure (hence the noise) and to the machine not rinsing properly, affecting the quality of the water. The engineers also don't explain anything, you have to ask every detail of what the issue is, what is causes etc. If you ask questions they can be quite elusive, probably from a lack of knowledge. But then I had to call three times to sort the issue and felt I needed to keep on top of things or I would get fobbed off again as though I am imaging the issues with my machine. They will test the water before they leave, but only test hard/vs soft and I thought it was interesting that at the demo before the initial sale they test the actual hardness level of the water. I would have liked something like that upon the engineer visits and before the last one left I let him know I am not sure the water is right. He suggested I let it be for a few days and run a few cycles, which is where we are at. I cannot say if the issue is resolved or not (testing yesterday showed soft water, today showed hard water, but Harveys won't believe what I say). I'm just incredibly frustrated with the effort it took on my part and how the engineers did not take my complaints seriously and obviously do not know how to do a proper service. EDIT: I called to inform about hard water and was told the service engineer would call back the same day. Never received the call and this is the second time I'm not receiving a callback even though it was their idea.
