The form was hard to use and unclear, and the report has the wrong name on it. After contacting customer support to rectify this and speaking to a lady who sounded like SHE was the one running out of patience, the same mistake has been made again. I have a credit score of 977, but I have twice now received my referencing report stating that my credit score cannot be found. I am also baffled as to why it says that my rental limit is £000.00, and why I was asked for my employers contact details and my landlords contact details when they weren't used? Openrent uses this service for referencing. If I were them I'd just do an Experian credit check and ask for a copy of your ID. It would be much more reliable.
Rentguard was very quick to contact me for the renewal of the policy. Once the renewal happened I have tried to contact them by email and never received a reply, by phone and each time I was put on hold for at least 30 minutes. Appalling customer service.
Dreadful communication. Impossible to renew a policy online despite all their emails instructing me to do so and despite trying various browsers, allowing pop-ups etc. They do not answer their phones. The office hours are not as stated on the website. They ignore Twitter approaches. OpenRent you need to choose your partners more carefully.
Absolute con. Had a tenant, vetted by this lot, abscond. Phoned three times to try to claim and got three different excuses for not paying out. Bad enough losing rental income without losing out extra for their non existent services. Haven’t been able to re-rent the property due to the pandemic, so have lost months of rent that I’d assumed would be covered.
Samantha at Rent Guard was amazing very quick handled my query and i am now fully insured!! Highly recommended , fantastic service!!
Unprofessional unsympathetic company to communicate with during a pandemic. Their customer service is a disgrace after ten years with them. Stay away.
its all a scam read through there terms and conditions it appears that they dont pay for nothing everything you will want to claim its excluded for a different reason DON'T TOUCH THIS COMPANY!!!! TOTALLY WORTHLESS
I give them 5 stars as a landlord, these guys are awesome. The only people who are complaining are the bad tenants who used to slip through and occupy property creating hell for unsuspecting landlords. I have managed to screen out the most deceptive tenants who looked fantastic when you meet them yet you wouldn't have suspected them to be bad creditors and con artists. There is still a lot that needs to be improved with this service like for HMO landlords, which I am one too. However its been a great new product that entered the market keeping landlords fairly safe. You must put up a fight to screen your tenant, its a pain in the backside, but if you don't they will definitely put up a costly and lengthy fight getting evicted afterwards if they turn out to be bad.
Still waiting for partial rebate from Rentguard on a cancelled policy (H1429950) from early Feb`20. Trevellyan Ins brokers unable to make any progress with this company, other than confirmation of the rebate due after deduction of cancellation fee. FCA here we come!
I have been RentGuard since 2010 and although I've had a few hiccups when it came to claiming I have been satisfied or at least content with their service. I've had a lot more dissatisfied service from other companies including my care insurance. The good thing about Rentguard is that the policy price is very competitive, the customer service is very good as you usually speak to the same person. I have recommended Rentguard to many family and friends and I've not heard any negative comments. So surprised to see all the negative reviews, totally miffed??
complete robotic answer received. looks like i m in wrong hand!
I'm sure many of you will begin to experience this soon but Rentguard are not prepared to uphold loss of rent from tenants directly affected by the Coronavirus pandemic. Evictions are prohibited currently so therefore they cannot support claims of this nature. Another example of an insurer running for the hills and not upholding their obligations. Financial Ombudsman has been contacted and local MP due to respond on the matter shortly.
Have 2 policy’s for 2 houses in the same street which were both flooded. One apparently is covered for flood and one isn’t. They have been insured for 3 years With them but 2 years ago they changed the one policy to not to pay out in flood or storm when the other is covered but didn’t tell us. (I know we should have checked!) Legal and general say it’s the brokers fault but the prices of both properties are virtually identical, and also one of the questions apparently we answered is the property close to a river and we are supposedly answered NO! The river is the main reason we took out the insurance in case of flooding......they just don’t want to know. Don’t even reply to emails, will be taking this further! Shocking company
Very helpful and quick to respond. Thank you.
very personable and friendly unbiased and helpful
Jack was useless, did not know a thing!!! Kept putting me on hold without any warning, absolute joke. Wasted about an hour of my time!!!
Excellent company to have insurance with and the staff are all very professional
AVOID! They did not actually review the statements provided by my tenant. They just failed him.. WASTE OF MONEY. . . .
I recently renewed my policy with rentguard, I have to say I was offered an extremely competitive price and excellent cover on my home insurance. However this wasn’t an easy process initially I was sent a renewal which I wanted to amend thats when it all started by an huge increase, following many conversations and being advised differently each time I contacted my broker who I Initially purchased the policy through and he was able to get the price reduced significantly hence the 3 star. So far touch wood I have not had to claim and hopefully won’t have to therefore unable to comment. Fast and speedy customer service
They put an incorrect name on the policy. In spite of chasing them a few times they couldn’t get it right. You email them and you get a standard response back. There are plenty of insurers in the market who are cheaper and can deliver a better service. Finally someone called me back and told me that i gave them the incorrect information. I checked the email I had sent to them informing them about the name change and there was no error there. They should own up to their mistakes and apologise for their error instead they choose to blame the customer
