I purchased Landlords' insurance, but they made so many mistakes and omissions after I had told them what was required in the initial quote, that I got freaked out about how the experience would be if I ever did need to make a claim. Once payment had been made the call handler didn't seem to give a monkey's about the policy or what was in it and failed to update the essential information when highlighted at this point. In fact, on the 2 occasions that I spoke with him, he seemed decidedly disinterested in the whole process. I cancelled the policy straightaway. My advice would be to go direct to the insurers themselves, I've had a much better experience with Aviva. Edit 16/4/18: Policy No. H1360611 - I find it hard to believe that RentGuard are interested in discussing this matter further, as when I phoned Customer Services to cancel the policy, I asked if she wanted to know why I was cancelling the policy and she said that I could put any comments in the cancellation confirmation email, so I explained to her there and then anyway, she was pleasant enough, but it was clear that she couldn't have cared less. I don't see why I should waste any more of my time either emailing RentGuard or speaking to them over the phone. I wish I had read the other negative reviews before I tried dealing with them, I'm not the first to experience similar difficulties. It simply isn't worth the aggravation of setting up a policy with them and it certainly makes you wonder what would happen in the event of a claim, which some of the other reviewers have experience of. I am fairly tolerant, but they wasted a lot of my time at a very busy period, my best advice is to avoid!!
I have been invited to review Rentguard having just taken out a rent protection policy. I had a positive experience setting up the policy. I had to do this over the phone as I had a few queries. The operative was knowledgeable and pleasant and it was quick and easy to set up. I have given a 5* rating based on the service so far. However I have not had any further dealings or made a claim with Rentguard. I feel this might skew the ratings as, if I have any negative issues in the future I will not be able to provide an updated review. Good customer service needs to be reviewed from the wider context not just from the initial sale.
Had a complaint and was passed to one of the manager called M Singh. Was told i was going to get a called back and i never did. Called again for the same issue, manager out on lunch. It is ridiculous and really rude. Expect me to give business but yet can't deal the issues I'm having. Wouldn't trust them at all.
Building insurance for my flat is provided by the landlord so I only need a landlord's contents policy. One of the most important items of cover a landlord needs is public liability. This was included in the policy but it was only on reading the small print after purchase that I found PL cover to be limited to injury from contents - so no cover if the tenant slips or trips. The publicity material is misleading and the policy is useless and I consider that the limitations are not being made clear.
We renewed our insurance online, it was very straightforward and took very little time.
Easy and straight forward to use website. Documents emailed straight away! Would defiantly recommend
Quick and easy to arrange complete peace of mind & full legal support at very reasonable cost.
Straightforward to do it on line thank you
No Messing about, good service, quick quotations, all questions answered satisfactorily Have taken out both a Landlord Buildings policy and a rent guarantee policy for a property
I am not a direct customer of Rentguard. I am a Landlord that was contacted by Rentguard requesting a reference for a previous tenant. If the request I received was indicative of the processes they use to validate references I highly doubt that their services can be regarded as reliable. The points I picked up on were: - It was a basic template email. It didn't state my name as the landlord, or the details of the address the tenant let from me. - The email made no attempt to validate my personal details, or the address of the rental property. It didn't even ask me to confirm them. - The email didn't ask me when the tenant had rented from me. Neither the exact dates, length of tenancy, or a general enquiry of how long ago it occured. The email basically consisted of a list of standard referencing questions (rent paid? how much? left clean? would you regard as a suitable tenant?). I sent a reply answering the questions and pointed out that the reply could be from anyone, even from the tennant themselves that supplied the email address used to make contact. I asked if they could reply to verify if there was any other way that my identity was being confirmed to avoid fraud. Rentguard did not acknowledge my email or respond to my query. I have been contacted by the tenant to say thanks for the reference. Strikes me as a very insecure reference checking process. If all they do to check previous tenancy references is send a questionaire to a random email address provided by the prosepective tenant. They charge landlords for the privilidge, giving them a false sense of security that that their property has been placed in the care of extensively vetted tennants. I can't say that Rentguard is the only culprit, I've been contacted in a similar manner by several similar firms.
Very good stuff and always look after the costumer will done👍

Very simple and straightforward to deal with. The policy cost has remained consistent year after year. I’ve never needed to claim, but the administration and customer service is high quality.
I had a policy but cancelled this within my 14 day cooling off period, which I done on the phone with a nice lady called Sarah, then she explained what I needed to do regarding cancellation ie email rentgard cancelling and I will not be charged a fee , brilliant no problem done this in December 2018 and got confirmation email same day brilliant and I got some different insurance. However I got a letter a month later stating I owe £57 cancellation fee , I thought must be a mistake, then last week I get a more threatening letter asking for same amount again which prompted me to respond by email. I simply took a photo of their emails saying thank you for cancelling you owe nothing as I cancelled within my 14 day cooling off period, you might think that would be the end but sadly no. They kept emailing me the same attachment saying I owe a cancellation fee until I said “ you email me again asking for money I clearly do not owe I will contact the FOS “. Funny enough the sent me back two emails one saying I owe £22 and the othe saying I owe nothing. The email stating I owe nothing was so unprofessional and full of jargon, it was unreal, lucky I work in a similar industry so I knew what it meant , pitying the poor person who doesn’t. I am not happy but thankful I don’t have to deal with these anymore. Gary
Very professional and friendly, above all willing to help when others were inflexible to provide cover for my 2nd home.
very good and efficient customer service.
Easy, friendly service. I even got an unexpected discount. Would recommend.
Very helpful person on the phone. An easy, simple process, good value.
I was sent a quote automatically after using Open Rent to let my property. Having compared to other quotes theirs was the best value offering a similar product. Of course one never knows how great insurance companies are until you have to claim!
