ORIGINAL REVIEW Stay away at all cost, it is a rip-off! As many other have already explained before, you are suddenly charged with a monthly fee, even if you already paid upfront for lifetime. If you don't pay, all your data will be gone! Best thing about it is their 'explanation': "As with all things in life - change is inevitable". I hope this company goes out of business sooner than later... UPDATE: I raised my review from 1 to 3 stars after having received the written confirmation that Zoolz management has changed its mind, so maybe they deserve a second chance: "We heard you Zoolz has been in business for over 15 years, which makes us - we like to think - pretty good at what we do. But, that’s not to say we always get it right. Our recent email sent to our lifetime users in which we address changes to our pricing and how this will affect your account was ill-planned. We are the first to admit we should not have used this approach and we would like to take this opportunity to tell you that you will not lose access to any of your data or your account. Irrespective of whether you subscribe to the premium upgrade or not, your lifetime plan will remain completely accessible and your amount of purchased storage will never decrease."

False Pricing & Untrustworthy. You have been warned. After buying 'Lifetime' zoolz in 2019 from StackSocial.com I get an email on Jan 2020 that my 'Lifetime' is no longer for 'Life' and is billable monthly if I want to keep it. False Pricing & Untrustworthy. See email received below: EMAIL COPY ------------------------------------------ from: Zoolz to: my email address date: Jan 13, 2020 We, Will, be Increasing Our Prices as of 1st February As with all things in life - change is inevitable. Due to the high demand for premium services, we are no longer offering basic plans to any of our Zoolz account holders, and as such we will be slightly increasing our prices. Our commitment to you For our lifetime account holders, we will be asking you to pay a very nominal fee of only $1.50 per month. Users will be able to retrieve their data until the new pricing plan is activated on February 1st. Users can subscribe to the new plan at any point, or retrieve their data and store it elsewhere. We are still fighting aggressively to minimize costs for our users.

$1.5 a month for the paid once lifetime subscription? I am afraid they'll demand $150 in a month or two. The patient is incurable. RIP.

I am one of the many 'lifetime account' holders and although I did received the maintenance ending notice a while back I didn't read too much in to it because I don't required maintenance and never have. But today I received a notice that as of Feb 1,"for our lifetime account holders we will be asking you to pay a very nominal fee of only $1.50 per month". I'm sorry, you should not be offering a 'lifetime account' if it isn't Pay once and own that amount of data for as long as YOUR COMPANY STAYS IN BUSINESS. If and when your company does start to run in to financial troubles, you should not be first removing your lifetime members. Sure, I get it, we paid a one time fee but that fee we paid is a fee you decided upon and go an influx of money at that time. If that money has been squandered away and you need to start cutting the corners off your cereal box to stay in business, that will most certainly not work! I utilized this in good faith and use it as a cold storage mostly, knowing that I have this space tucked away for my own IT Business. If you are not going to honor this and now want those lifetime members to start paying a monthly fee (I don't care if it is only 1.50 per month as that still works out to $14.40 per year which would buy me my own storage devices that would't be asking for more money once I have purchased it). If this is the sign that Zoolz is on its way to being out of existence then so be it-state that in your email.

Zoolz sells lifetime cloud archive, than some time later they ask for a monthly fee because they are very good in business... They've lured users into advertising a lifetime service, and now they cancel their account and want a monthly fee. Seems like a scam to me. NEVER BUY A LIFETIME SERVICE from ZOOLZ

Seems like a good service. You sync files, feel protected, go to work and have a nice day. Until.... Until you need those backups restored, don't mind the 12 hr wait. I knew that during sign up. This issue is the 11.4 KB/s download speed. Now I only wanted to restore 50MB but that would take 1hr 16 mins approx.at those speed. Try restoring 500GB (1 year 5 months 29 days 1 hour 38 minutes 59 seconds). Perhaps my connection is strong enough (110Mbps download) but others have mentioned similar download speed issues. So for that reason it's not fit for purpose. Sorry - good idea though. EDIT since above. Restoring via the Web interface / email download link is slow. Using the desktop application i'm seeing about 50 Mbps (better) but it's still taken 24hrs to get 35GB. So it would be a long 28 days if you need 1TB EDIT (AGAIN) - Trying to restore some more data, now the windows application just hangs and nothing happens for over 12 hrs. Useless as i cannot get my data (4th attempt today, not looking likely).

Beware! After one year they demand a maintenance fee to be paid. If you don't subscribed to this plan, they will move your 'idle' data from the vault to cold storage, you will not have instant access to your data anymore. Now they can just keep increasing their maintenance fee. All these should be stated clearly at the initial offering, it is a direct violation of the terms and conditions of the sale. Anyone interested in a class action?

I bought their 1 TB Lifetime plan two years ago. It is very easy to use. Customer service always replies my emails and I am very happy with this cloud. I also bought their annual maintenance plan today. Cold Storage is very intelligent and works automatically for new data. Their upload speed is fantastic in turbo mode for cold storage and actually everything is fine in their service. The only issue, I think, is their "Vault" which is of no use to me until they convert it into a sync-folder or a virtual-drive or whatever else user-friendly. It is not feasible for us to manually upload data by using web-option especially on slower internet connections.

I purchased the lifetime a couple of years ago. I use the Vault daily and the cold storage takes care of regular backups. I share files in the Vault to third parties on occasion and they can download very quickly. the uploads via the webpage works very well. Its a basic cloud storage and sharing service and it works very well. Being on amazon servers in my mind offers additional security. They recently emailed me a to start paying an annual fee of less than $5 to keep the software up to date and ensure services run smoothly. Im good with that. When i first started I wasnt sure about how to set it up and work the files in the webpage but with the support assistance i was up and running within minutes. Ive got other cloud services but zoolz is my favourite.

absolute waste of time and money signing up for their lifetime storage because that means only two years to them then you have to start paying a maintenance plan there was no mention of 2 years when I paid for lifetime storage and there was no mention of monthly support fees once they have your data your blackmailed into signing up for support. I would definitely stay away from this company. The only email I got about this was the one to say its expired and now you need to pay a subscription. I didnt get any notice about this and I have the emails from when I signed up and to tell me to update the client and the most recent one about expiration so none were lost or in a spam file they were never sent.

They run a scam. As many other reviews have stated, I bought a lifetime 2TB. 1TB active, and 1TB cold. After 1 year they emailed me stating that I would need to pay an additional fee to maintain the service I had already purchased. They moved all my active data into cold storage which means I can only access it after a 24 hour request.

Seemed like a good idea 2 years ago when I brought a "LIFETIME" service of 500gb but now I have had an email saying I have to pay to join a maintenance plan. No warning or any explanation, this is just a shady attempt at extorting money out of customers who, like me, were gullible enough to think lifetime meant a lot more than 2 years. Plus the download speeds are atrocious! It would take literally weeks to download 500gb that I have backed up. They are now saying the the maintenance payment will improve this speed. What a rip off!! I wouldn't give these con artists another penny and will go back to One Drive or similar.

I have very bad experience of using my Zoolz lifetime account. At beginning when I purchased my lifetime account all seems work well. I backup my data from my Mac. At some point i install my Mac from scratch and changed computer name. This was a mistake. Thanks to new name of my Mac i wasn’t able to restore any data anymore. Ok, I had my local backup and it works well. Then I want to backup my data again and it’s again a mistake. Backup is very slow. I am not able to backup my photos even for some month. Mac application is easy to use, but very demanding and very often hangs and crashing.

I purchased Zoolz 2TB Lifetime backup service in 2017. It’s worked well for a one-time fee. Yes, it was a bargain. But now, Zoolz has deprecated the service so that it’s so slow that even small files hang when backing up. I didn’t have a complete backup success for over 140 days! It’s become basically unusable … UNLESS … you pay for service. I did ask for an explanation and got this: “After checking the logs, we can confirm that the reason for the slowness and stucking issues you are having with Zoolz is that you are sharing the same upload channel with all the other Zoolz lifetime subscribers. Lifetime subscribers notice this issue persists more than with our monthly/annual subscribers. The reason for this is some lifetime users, who all share the same unlimited bandwidth channel, have been abusing this channel. This has led upload speeds to drop for compliant users. In order to combat this, we have introduced a maintenance plan for only $10 per year, which gives you your own dedicated upload channel meaning you will not be affected by other activity on the network, as well as many other benefits.” Seems like an intentional bait and switch to me. And if they would do that here, they will do that anywhere. Not as good as it seems.
