Everything was handled professionally and in a timely manor. The design is great and was easy enough to build. The pre assembled kit came expertly wrapped and remained dry while it rained waiting for me to start the project. My only complaint would be that the canexal black nails were very rubbery and had a lot of kick back to them taking flight! Wear you safety glasses! It is a great product and I would buy again. Thanks John and Sparkle P!
Overall, an excellent experience. Very strong technical support, very complete building manual, terrific design on the Bala Bunkie.
Wonderful product, design experience, and support. I love how much you can customize it. I made an entire BNB guest house out of a shed model. Just expect the process to take many weeks.
Our experience with Summerwood Products was, for the most part, a positive one. We were professionally guided through the entire process. Their assembly crews were friendly and competent. When the crew first arrived to assemble the gazebo, it was found that the foundation we had had installed was for the wrong size of a gazebo. Even though this was not Summerwood’s responsibility, they protected the components, which by now were stacked on my back lawn, from the weather and went away without much ado. When the foundation pad was done, another crew returned and the assembly proceeded smoothly. It was interesting to watch. They were finished by mid-afternoon. The October weather kept us from sealing our new gazebo right away. When we started we noted water stains on the ceiling. We took pictures of the stains and sent them in an email to Summerwood. A few weeks later they sent a tradesman to repair the ridge caps. Our frequent communications with Summerwood were effective. They always responded in a friendly helpful manner. Now that our experience with Summerwood is over, we are feeling quite satisfied with our purchase. We will send a picture in the spring when everything is out in leaf and bloom.
Even for non-professionals like us, we were able to construct it!! Thanks to all the instructions provided and the pre-assembled unit parts. It was a great project!
We decided to change up our front and backyard this summer, especially given how the COVID-19 pandemic has been making everyone feel low, and added a cute new shed from Summerwood. The product looks great with adorable details on the window & flower box - just like how I wanted! The two guys who came to install the shed were very nice and thorough - they arrived at the house very early in the morning and finished the work promptly. We had to reschedule the installation date multiple times and the staff at Summerwood were super nice and understanding throughout the process. The shed was installed perfectly. I highly recommend their products and services to anyone who needs extra love and joy to their house! :)
good I like the experience
Incredible service and quality!
We purchased the Bala Bunkie from Summerwood and are still in the process of assembling it. But our contractor does not stop complimenting the quality of the materials and the way it's put together. Summerwood's customer service has been excellent. In summary, we've had an amazing experience so far.
Great company to deal with. Extremely pleased with the quality and end product.
We are so pleased with our backyard Urban Studio! The Summerwood team took a sincere interest in helping us plan our studio and ensured that it was built using the materials that were best for our intended use. The installation was on schedule and very well organized. We use our solid, light-filled space as an art studio and office as well as for a quiet place to read, listen to music and enjoy nature! The best part was the advice, I didn't know where to start with all great designs in front of me. When I saw the "before you begin" part, I was totally comforted and guided. I love their site, it's so easy and very informative! They just know what you really desire and they can totally upgrade your style.
Each time I corresponded with Summerwood either via phone or email, I received friendly, professional service! The Cad Program on their web site was extremely fun to use and most helpful in conceptualizing my ideas & in helping me make my dream a reality! Curtis was fabulous in helping me tweak (many times over) my plan for my tiny art home. He utilized his design team effectively in helping me get the features I most wanted with a budget I needed. I have so enjoyed my experience thus far and anxiously await delivery of this beautiful structure!!! Thank YOU Curtis and Team!!! Sue :}
This is truly a company that is a pleasure to deal with. They live up to their word! I purchased a pre-cut Palmerston shed kit, which was built by our family. All pieces were delivered on the date promised. We had a few follow up questions as we progressed, which were all responded to thoughtfully, thoroughly, and in a timely way, irrespective of who we dealt with. The final product has been a charming addition to the back yard, and has drawn numerous compliments. I would definitely recommend this company, if you are looking for a unique product that enhances your property, and is a ‘cut above’ the ordinary.
Our Sonoma bunk is everything we hoped for and more! The quality of the materials is outstanding and the company was very helpful at every step. We couldn't be happier with the outcome and will enjoy it for years to come.
I bought a pool bar from Summerwood and am completely satisfied. What an awesome product from this Canadian company. We started with a model I saw online, then John H helped me customise for my space. I did the install myself - it was an excellent and fun project to do. The manuals are easy to follow and the kit comes with some extra pieces for add-ons later! (or if you mess up) I used the stains recommended and they too are exceptional products. This thing looks great !! Cheers to the whole Summerwood team from a happy customer!
We are totally happy with our product and enjoying it..
We paid Summerwood for a ~$24,000 shed installed in our newly renovated backyard. Overall, we have a mixed-opinion on the final result. There were numerous issues with the initial installation, though most have now been fixed. The original Summerwood installers spent 2 days installing my shed and rushed to finish the shed on the second day because they didn’t want to drive back across Toronto (to my home) for a third day. The speed at which they were working, at 5pm on the second day, was clearly reflected in the original outcome. For example, (1) The trim and siding were not level along the roofline (the "revealed" edge between the top of the shed and the roof). The first thing that could be seen when looking front-on was a shed that was out of alignment. The trim was also not cut to the same lengths on different sides. This was most frustrating, and in general, I would say that the Versatex Trim (a $1795 option) was embarrassingly installed. Summerwood replaced the trim & siding (a ~6 hour job for the repair crew), and corrected this issue. (2) The window frame's paint was scratched up upon install. Summerwood's repair crew corrected this issue. (3) One of the double doors didn't open/close because the installers damaged the seal around the base. Summerwood's repair crew corrected this issue. (4) There was a hole in the Canexel siding on the front of the shed, which the repair crew plugged. (5) The “house wrap” was not cut cleanly in a number of spots — there were several inches of it dangling on the inside, and the house wrap was visible through the gaps along the "revealed" edge. Summerwood's repair crew addressed this. (6) I feel the need to comment further on the Versatex trim. In its final state, it has a number of seams visible along the roofline, which looks a bit ugly as it draws the eye. All of the Versatex trim was installed with nails, and the Versatex nail holes were not plugged. The repair crew informed me that they use nails to control the thermal expansion, and that Versatex isn't sold in long enough lengths to avoid a seam. I do not believe that either of these are correct. Specifically, it clearly says on their website that screws limit thermal movement better than nails, and that longer sheets of Versatex are available. Amusingly, while the repair crew was telling me this, I had a covered deck being installed on my house (via a different contractor) which is using Versatex sheets up to 20' in length, so that no seams are visible. (I even pointed this out.) Furthermore, the sheets on my covered deck use the Cortex concealed fastening system, which is exactly what Versatex recommends on their website. My feeling is that Summerwood simply didn't want to spend the money or effort to fix this on my shed, and for a $1795 option, I had expected a cleaner end result. From a non-technical perspective, I also want to mention two other issues with the original installation: (7) The company originally left significant mess in and around my yard which I ended up having to clean up. This included bottles of gatorade, saw dust, Versatex trim dust, nails, and pieces of wood. They didn't have a "shopvac". (8) The installers brought along masonry anchor bolts “in case they needed to install into a concrete base”, despite the fact that my project had a well-engineered wood platform (on helical piles). When I inquired with the lead installer, he explained that he received “no information in advance of the install”. My general contractor informed me that this was not true and that numerous photos and details were sent to Summerwood in advance. I think that this really speaks to two major deficiencies with Summerwood: the first being a problem of communication between Summerwood and its customers and Summerwood and its own installation team. Second, it makes me wonder how much I paid for unnecessary items like masonry anchors so that the installers could accommodate any sort of generic installation. Overall: The end result is now okay, and looks good, and will last a long time. But, it required effort to get there, and it's a bit disappointing to have gone through this for such a premium product.
I absolutely love my Summerwood She-Shed, Evelyn! Summerwood was so very easy & enjoyable to work with, too-A fabulous experience from project start to completion!—Especially appreciate their shed options & sizes -No other shed company could touch their product quality, design or ingenuity. Go Summerwood!
