From my first contact with phoenix health administration Emma I was made to feel like everything was about me and I wasn’t just another number. My first visit to The Pines to see the dietitian and consultant was another memorable day, the hospital was lovely inside, very clean and tidy which gives you confidence when you are starting to feel quite anxious about this big decision. I was put at ease straight away. I was kept informed early on in the new year that I had been accepted onto the list and went straight onto my pre op diet. On the day of my surgery 16th Jan 2024 I was met by many of the staff who all had nothing but smiles and encouragement for me. My surgeon Ms Jennifer Darrien was a bright and bubbly person again putting me at ease about what was to come. From the surgeon, the anaesthesiologist the nurses, dietitian and even the cleaners this is an exceptional place and worth their weight in gold for the care they gave. Sharron.
I must say from start to finish Phoenix Health was very informative and helpful. My surgeon who did my gastric sleeve Mr Almerie was simple fantastic along with all the team. Each and everyone of them put me at ease. The staff in the Pines Hospital were very attentive and caring nothing to much trouble. Thank you and I cant wait to start my journey xxx
From the moment of my first contact with Pheonix, all of the staff have been amazing. Everyone is very knowledgable and reassuring. The hospital at The Pines is clean and the rooms are well equipped. Miss Darrien has been amazing and has done a perfect job with my sleeve! I would highly recommend to anyone thinking of doing this.
I have been under the care of the phoenix Bariatric care for 3 years now with the very experienced Ms Derrian who has always had patients health including mine as priority. It’s hasn’t been pain sailing after my gastric sleeve, although I can take a lot of positives and that was to enjoy walking and enjoy taking the dogs out. But after 12 months my reflux became so unbearable that was affecting my way of life, no matter what I did nothing would stop the burning and it coming through my nose. I was taking a day 5x20mg Omeprazole, which in itself speaks volumes. However, being kept up to date with Ms Derrian and her team they were always on the other end of the phone suggesting new ideas. So December 23 was asked to have a barium meal, were it showed I had a Hiatas Hernia. From then it’s been a whirlwind experience to having pre op bloods to surgery. Initially I was to undergo a Roux en Y, The agreement we both came to was to first see and fix the hernia, which will now hopefully help me with the reflux. I truly hope this is the final destination but know I won’t be left and be in the safe hands of these wonderful doctors and team. I am truly grateful to these amazing dedicated doctors and nurses 🙏
My experience with Phoenix health has only ever been positive. All the staff from across the board have always been there to support me and help me when I needed it. Regular consultation phone calls, along with dieticians and nurses. I’d highly recommend Phoenix. Always a high standard of professional care
I am so happy that I could have my treatment in this hospital. Everyone is so nice and helpful. My surgeon Mr Qutayba Almerie consultant bariatric are the most amazing, profesional and high standard doctor. I has meet Mr Qutayba Almerie flew weeks ago and I believe I will remember him for long time. The nurses are have high understanding what going on with the patient. I get the maximum support I could take. Thank you all the wonderful staff. If anyone think about choice hospital that Phoenix Health is what you want.
The Experience with phoenix was outstanding from start to finish. From the receptionist right through to Mr Almere
My surgeon Mr Almerie explained both procedures to me. He helped me decide which one would be best for me. He had a patient manner and made the whole experience from start to finish very easy and stress free. He put me at ease and made me feel I was listened to.
After careful consideration and doing my home work I decided to go ahead with the ballon. It was always meant as a stepping stone to help me in the first initial stage. For the first two weeks of the ballon I found it difficult, not the eating side of things but how it made me feel, a little unwell. After that it was plain sailing. It taught me how big my food portions were without recognising before. I stuck to the plan throughout. I had my ballon inserted for a total of 3 months and 3 weeks. To date I have lost 3 stone, I was worried after the ballon dissolved that I would be super hungry, but in fact I still eat what I ate when I had the ballon!!!!! If you treat this as a start and helping tool to educate yourself towards healthy food and exercise you will not be disappointed I would not hesitate to reccommend this to any of my friends and family.
Excellent caring staff from the the cleaners right upto the surgical team. I can't thank Ms Derrian enough for her skill and expertise in performing my mini gastro bypass with her surgical team and will be forever grateful 🙏. Thankyou from Mrs Vivienne Mcallister
Brilliant service staff all amazing care was excellent surgeon mrs Darwin was so helpful
Mr Almerie and all the team were fantastic and ensured that I was kept informed the whole way through my stay.
Mr Almerie is a great surgeon, the team also at The pines Hospital I could not fault, everything went smoothly and everyone cared for me so much. Would happily return here in the future.
I had a revision of OAGB to RNY on 15/11/23 by Mr Javed. The team were excellent and discussed all my options and outcomes with me to ensure I had the best outcome. My care by the nursing and surgical team was great and I’m really pleased with my outcome so far. The admin staff kept me informed throughout my waiting time and I would highly recommend this team to anyone considering primary or revision bariatric surgery. I felt supported throughout my journey and confident that I will make a good recovery.

Managing safety course this course was well delivered by Robert Burgon with amusing parts to go with the health and safety contact
I Have been an inpatient at pines hospital under phoenix health / Dr Almerie for gastric sleeve and I can not fault him or his team ! The op went perfect the pains not to bad other than that wind !!! I was very reassured by mr almerie who called the day before a came to see me twice a day while I was in hospital and he is such a nice person very laid back kind and down to earth ! Phoenix health have been consistent in keeping me updated and appointments with dietician psychologist etc. I was nervous wreck and petrified of going under anaesthetic but I was in safe hands and made to feel comfortable his team are lovely and the nurses at pines are all lovely too ! Can’t fault it
I have found Phoenix Health exceptional. I had a gastric bypass on the 8th October with Ms Jennifer Darrien at the Pines. Ms Darrien was fantastic and talked me through every step with lots of support before, in the theatre and after. The nurses were fabulous, and couldn't do any more to help me. Special shout out to the nurse who held my hand in the middle of the night as I sobbed, and to Nadia. I will never forget your kindness.
I had my Mini Bypass at the Pines Hospital yesterday. I also had an umbilical hernia that they didn't think they would be able to fix, but the amazing Mr Quatayba Almerie (who is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet) and his team went the extra mile and also sorted out that for me too! From the moment I was assigned to Phoenix Health, I have had amazing treatment, from calls from the friendly admin teams to meetings with the anesthetist, surgeons and dieticians and a call from Mr Almerie the day before the surgery to see how I was feeling! I checked into the Pines and was told I was second on the list, Mr Almerie and the anaesthetist Matt both came to meet me to talk me through the procedure and this really helped put me at ease. When it was my time to go down to the theatre, I was put at ease by the surgical nurses and anaesthetist and had no problem or fears hopping onto the operating theatre bed (this is my first ever operation and I just knew I was in safe hands). The op went great and the pain has not been too bad afterwards, the ward staff really look after you. I can't recommend Mr Almerie , Phoenix Health and The Pines Hospital enough. Thank you for giving me the tool to a new life and for fixing that pesky hernia!!
