My experience at The Pines was exceptional I would score 10/10 if I could. All the staff, doctors, nurses, admin, cleaners etc were all very nice, helpful and informative, I was looked after very well. Mr Almerie, the surgeon was second to none and took time to explain things and to make sure I was comfortable with the surgery. I felt very happy throughout the whole process. And the aftercare is just as good. Thanks to all of you x

I recently had a mini gastric bypass by phoenix health at the Pines. They were absolutely incredible honestly the staff were all really caring and supportive. My Surgeon Mr Almerie was really nice and calming he spoke to me the night before my operation to see if I had any questions and the day or my operation as well to make sure i felt well informed about the procedure. The team were all great and make sure you are well cared for during your stay. Thank you all so much.

Where to start I’d thought about bariatric surgery for years but thought it would ruin my life , but I spoke to Phoenix Health and from the 1st call I was put at ease and made to feel comfortable to me. Phoenix health isn’t a business It’s a large family made up of extremely professional , knowledgeable and highly Qualified Individuals from the surgeons, anaesthetists , bariatric nurses dietitians and psychologists , all behind the scenes workers that are all passionate about one thing and that there is patient's well-being and safety . There isn’t enough space or words that express how I feel I went to my first face-to-face assessment and was met with knowledgeable friendly people who answered every question I had for them and went through what was like an A to Z of to do and don’t do , I received a date for my gastric bypass shortly after the assessment but due to unforeseen health issues on my side I had to cancel I thought I’d be waiting ages but no Phoenix were there on the phone with another date for surgery within weeks the next day received my pack which had my plan and yet more information . All my pre-op phone calls were always on time and so informative, but yet seemed so layed back . I went for my pre-op assessment to the Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle, and from the very first moment I stepped in I was cared for like royalty. Nothing was a problem, even getting a tour of the Ward, I’d be on . Surgery day came I arrived and was taken straight to my room on the Chester Suite where a nurse went through everything again with me. I then met Mr Javed who once again, put me at ease and answered all questions I had and passionately explained what would be happening and what the benefits to me would be nothing felt rushed , actually beforehand I had read a lot online about Mr Javed and his work and interest within bariatric surgery , This made me feel not just honoured that he was my surgeon, but safe, even safer than I already felt I was met by the anaesthetist who, once again I had a lot of questions for he answered them with no problems and was very knowledgeable in bariatric surgery as well . Within an hour I was taken to theatre where I was put to sleep with no problems in a very calm and comfortable environment. I woke up a little unwell due to some breathing problems during surgery and then after which could happen anywhere with any operation. I was kept well informed with the nurse by my side at all times and also seen by Mr Javed and the anaesthetist twice to explain what was happening. It was there decision to send me to ITU for the night, so I could be closely monitored safely without any problems. Once again, they came to see me in ITU, which reassured me even calling my family and explaining everything putting them at ease , the ITU staff were 2nd to none and so kind, even stopping to rub my back to help with the gas pain. I was allowed to go back to Chester Suite the next morning and back to my room. Once again I was helped with everything with no problems. I was asked if there was anything I needed when being visited by Phoenix health staff this reassured me even more. I was discharged on the Thursday morning after seeing the surgeon also physio I was given all medication and plans on how to take them and when , This was done smoothly And within an hour, I was on my way home. I’m now six days postop and I’ve had no problems but Phoenix health have still called up to ask how I am. I’ve received all my discharge summary and the plan for moving forward. I.e. follow up appointments , I honestly couldn’t thank the team at Phoenix and the Alexandra Hospital for what they have done and how it has changed my life , it’s only the beginning of my journey and I feel like a new person already . If anyone is reading this thinking about bariatric surgery like I did please don’t leave it as long pick up the phone and call Phoenix even if it’s just to chat about What could be done You won’t feel like you’re being judged or pressured into anything . Last, but not least I’d like to especially thank Emma Lloyd from Phoenix health, who goes above and beyond in her job I am eternally grateful to you all and will most definitely recommend you to anybody and if I ever need anything I would be back to Phoenix health in a heart beat , like I said five stars most certainly doesn’t do Phoenix health enough justice for how good they are .

My recent hospital stay, under the care of Dr. Almerie and his dedicated team, was nothing short of outstanding. The staff at Phoenix Health exuded warmth and professionalism, making me feel at ease from the first contact. Despite my initial nervousness, they put me at ease and ensured I felt supported throughout every step of the process. I decided to go for WLS after reaching my highest weight of 363lbs, whilst with tier 3 i managed to lose 60lbs, I received a phonecall from The Pines in Manchester saying that my NHS referral had been sent to the Phoenix Health, and all i can say is that from the very first phone call i cannot express how great the staff are at Phoenix Health, from patient co-ordinator Emma to Nurse Davina, all my worries and questions were answered, on my first consultation they wanted to do a Bypass but i wanted a Gastric Sleeve which i did discuss with my Surgeon Miss Darrian when she rang me the week before surgery and i was so relieved that here was a Surgeon/consultant that actually listened to the patient and was sympathetic towards my feelings (had bad experiences in the past) day of surgery it was all go go go but because of the staff it was peaceful experience, i didn't feel rushed and when the staff came to get me for surgery they allowed me a extra few minutes to message my partner, surgery went smoothly and i was out 2 days later!! it was nice to have a room to myself which allowed me to get some sleep, if your going for this my advice is listen to your team for the pre-op diet and afterwards, as soon as you can get up walking it really does help with the gas pain. The only negatives i can bring up is that i had a slightly bad experience my 2nd night when after falling asleep the night nurse came in to go through my discharge medication, i was half asleep and was getting upset as i couldn't process what she was going through......anyone going here though you will not regret the experience!

Everyone at Pheonix has been so supportive and helpful. You can phone numerous times and everyone speaks to you with patience and understanding. I cannot recommend Consultant Darrien enough. Her knoweldge, professionalism, coupled with a personal approach, while being so supportive and easy to talk to.... I would not want anyone else. Amazing Consultant and this is repeated by everyone I have spoken to who has had the same Consultant. Everyone has been fantastic
