I had my Elipse gastric balloon procedure done at the The Grosvenor Nuffield Hospital in Chester. As an American, I could not get this procedure done in the States as it has not been approved yet so, I came to Britain to have it done. I'm glad I did. I walked into the office, and an hour later I walked out (waiting time included). Phoenix could not have made it simpler. The hardest thing about the procedure was swallowing the, "Pill". It was a little uncomfortable for the first couple of days (take the medicine they give you!), but after that, no problem. It was amazing how easy it was to lose weight after that. I think I lost a total of 40lbs. I still have a few more pounds to lose and I'm doing it. It definitely gave me a head start on my weight loss program. It gave me time to modify my eating behavior and learn the correct choices to make. It's been nine months since I had the procedure done and I've managed to keep the weight loss off. I can't say enough good things about the staff. Aisling, The Specialist Bariatric Dietitian, checked up on me once in a while to see how I was doing and to answer any questions I may have. Overall, a very good experience!

On 6th Sept I went to BMI Chester to have an elipse balloon fitted. I was very nervous but overall the experience was not as bad as I had expected. The follow up care has been great and I would recommend anyone thinking of having one fitted to go for it. Overall since Sept I have lost 3 stone with changing my diet and exercise. The balloon isn't the answer but it helps to kick start the weight loss and mindset. I shall be under their care until Sept by which time I plan to have lost another stone.

If you want your life destroyed then get weight loss surgery. I’m 5 years out and my life is destroyed as are many of my friends. Many of us had surgery at Aintree hospital but now they seemed to have gone from Merseyside and off the radar. People need to know the TRUTH about after the surgery. Far from life saving. It slowly kills people!!

I had a one anastomosis gastric bypass on the 8th March with Phoenix Health @ Nuffield hospital in Chester. I have to say that from start to now the pre op and post op care has been amazing. The staff at Nuffield cannot be faulted on their care, they are 5*. I am only 3 weeks post op and apart from trying to find food that tastes good blende I'm doing well. Professor Kerrigan drove miles to ensure my op took place as unfortunately my surgeon was ill, he and his team were great. Thank you again to the amazing staff that ensured my future is healthier. If you are thinking about having this surgery I can assure you that you're in great hands with Phoenix.

It’s difficult to put into words how phenomenal the team are at Phoenix. I first came across Phoenix Health in February 2018 where I enquired on the website for surgery, I had a telephone call with Barbara who was amazing from the get go - I was adamant I wanted Professor Kerrigan to perform my surgery after looking into him online, I managed to get an appointment in March with Prof, when I got there, I was set on changing my life as I was so ashamed of who I was, I hated myself, within seconds of been in the room with Prof and Jennifer Darien, I felt at ease but more importantly, I felt confident in the people who in essence were going to have my life in their hands on the operating table. We discussed several surgery’s and decided to go with the SADI-S procedure, I was sent away from the consultation but never felt alone for the following weeks, I had regular contact with the team and Phoenix and commenced my Liver reducing diet. The day of surgery came and I again was very anxious due to the risk of not being able to fully complete my surgery (due to my size) however, Prof, Barbara, Jennifer and other members of the team came to see me before the surgery and I felt completely at ease again. When I woke from the surgery I was in a lot of pain due to a preexisting back condition, Prof and the team done everything to make me comfortable. The aftercare is world class, I spent some time in hospital before travelling home, not the comfiest 4 hour drive but again, the team gave me some pain relief before I left and sent me home with pain relief too. I recovered well from the surgery however, I had a fall at home damaging my ankle, I ended up in a local NHS hospital and became rather unwell, I was unable to eat or drink and slept a lot, I spent about 4 weeks in this hospital and the Phoenix team were in close contact daily with the medical team there and me, when I was awake, after nearly 4 weeks of the NHS hospital not coming to a conclusion of why I was so ill, Prof brought me back to the Nuffield to ensure I received the best treatment possible, Prof and Jen took me down for surgery again and performed additional surgery to make me more comfortable (preexisting fistula abscess), they didn’t have to perform this surgery but chose to, again going above and beyond what was needed. I struggled after this, becoming a little depressed due to being unwell, I can truly say without the genuine care shown from the full team I’m not sure how I would of coped. Charli and Sandra were (still are) absolute angels throughout this time. After been at the Nuffield for a while, I came home with a treatment plan but, I also had developed a phobia of food, after several attempts with my GP to get help, I rang Phoenix and was just lost, I had got myself so down and depressed with everything and immediately the team jumped into action again, Charli rang me nearly every day just to chat with me and help me, I also had several appointments with Denise (psychologist) to battle this food phobia. Now, I’m 10 months into surgery and have lost over 84% of my excess body weight (over 20 stone since I first met Prof) there’s still a little way to go but, I’m so happy now. I never had a life before I met the Phoenix team, I simply existed, in constant pain and sadness, the team have not only helped me lose weight, they’ve helped me enjoy life and I shall be forever grateful. Professor Kerrigan, Jennifer Darien, Charli, Sandra and Denise (as well as the rest of the team) have been a rock to me since having this surgery, I have experienced some very dark days when in the NHS hospital and afterwards and the team at Phoenix have helped me through these. Thank you for giving me a second chance at life - thank you.

OAGB (One Anastomosis Gastric Bypass). Well... what can I say. As a 24 year old nurse with a blossoming weight of 24st, Phoenix health really have saved my life. I remember walking into the consultation with Charlie (dietician) and Jennifer Darrien (surgeon) and feeling ashamed of size and eating habits. Within seconds i was instantly put at ease with a friendly smile, genuine care and compassion. Not once did these people think I was crazy! And it was reassuring to know they had seen people in my position. 2 months from the consultation and I was in Chester ready for surgery. Miss Darrien truly 'held my hand' the whole way through and I feel so blessed and priviledged to have had this opportunity. The procedure was flawless... and the aftercare sensational (unlike anything I've seen in the NHS!) It truly made the whole situation a lot less scary. One week post op and I'm minus 14lbs! I cannot thank the Phoenix team enough.

Had a gastric sleeve in July 2017 and I cannot recommend Phoenix Health enough!!! The staff are there for you every step of the way, and really do take great care of you, not just at appointments or around the days of the op but also after the op. It has changed my life for the better and I am the happiest I have ever been. THANK YOU!!!!

10 months ago I had a gastric bypass. I have now lost 5 stone and couldn't be happier. From the initial telephone enquiry I made to book my consultation to the operation and the subsequent aftercare I couldn't praise everyone involved enough. Excellent care has been provided throughout the whole experience. Everyone is very professional and friendly, I felt completely at ease throughout, I was completely supported by everyone. At time when you are making a life changing decision, you need to feel confident that you are in safe hands and you will be with Phoenix.

I first contacted Phoenix Health at the beginning of November 2018. From start to finish every person I've been in conact with from the Secretary to the Surgeon, has been attentive to my needs, kind, compassionate and knowledgeable. They even recommended Hotels to stay at nearby (my Husband and I were travelling from Kent). Within a week since first conacting the team, I was provisionally booked in for surgery, to be performed by Professor David Kerrigan at the end of January 2019. I have since had my surgery and I have to say, I cannot recommend Phoenix Health enough. The Hospital I stayed at was lovely, clean and quiet, with kind and helpful staff. Several nurses held my hand the first two days and went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and as relaxed as possible. I would like to thank them for that. I am pleased to say that since then I have been doing very well, I'm healing nicely and I feel pleased with my decision to have had the surgery. The preparation I was given by Phoenix Health, in terms of conversations with the Consultant, Dieticians and Psychologist, helped to prepare me mentally for this complete lifestyle change. When discharged from the Hospital, I was provided with all the necessary medications and tools going forward, which put me at ease. They explained when appointments would need to be, when staples would need to be removed. They have written to me with all relevant information (yet again, very thorough!). One final aspect that I should mention is the care packages you can choose. I find these to be invaluable, as I feel I will be supported for the years to come in both the psychological and physical aspects of my weight loss and health. Thank you again to all the team.

I first contacted Phoenix Health in Belfast back in June and I had my first consult with Ms. Darrien and Gillian in July. Everything was so smooth and straight forward. They were very thorough in everything from dietician, psychologist etc. I travelled to the BMI in Cheadle, Manchester on the 30th of Sept. as I was booked in for the 1st of October - the hospital was absolutely amazing. Like a hotel - and the staff were all fantastic. Had the usual checks done in the hospital and was made feel so relaxed by all the staff. Ms. Darrien came around the morning of my operation and reassured me as I was exceptionally nervous. The follow up with the staff and Ms. Darrien during my stay was great. I am now almost 4 months post OP and feel I can give an unbiased review of my treatment from the get-go! I am having my 2nd follow up in 2 weeks time - to date from surgery I am 4st 12lbs down. Plus an additional 12lbs on the 2 week liver diet. I am absolutely loving my life again, my confidence is growing enormously and I can't believe it has all happened so quick. I cannot wait to see what the next year brings. The follow up from Phoenix has always been great - they are only an email away if I ever had a question or was unsure of anything. I have had an unremarkable recovery and I feel it is down to the professionalism of the team at Phoenix. I cannot recommend enough. If anyone is unsure of going ahead with this, please don't wait any longer. My one and only regret is I didn't get in touch or find out about Phoenix 10 years ago. I have battled with my weight for so long, and now I am finally starting to live a live worth living. Thank you xx

Every other positive review says it all. I had my Surgery on the 22.10.2018 and my experience from beginning to end has been amazing. My surgeon was Miss Davalia and her and the team at Phoenix are so supportive. I cant say enough good words about them. I've suffered from being overweight for 10 years and since my liver reducing diet 2 weeks before the operation until today i have lost 3.2 stone. I feel fantastic. if you feel you need to ask someone about weight loss surgery please do not hesitate to call one of the team, all the of the team are so nice and know everything you are going through. a personal thank you from a 51 year old man who maybe back to his late 30's weight in the next year a new chapter and a new life awaits thanks to all Mark

I first enquired about Weight Loss Surgery through Pheonix late Aug 2018. I had an information session the following week were I received high quality information about choices available. The information was well explained and I was able to make a highly informed decision to go for a gastric sleeve. The pre op stage was so thorough. I received consulations from psychology, dietician, nurses and the consultant. I was given an easy to follow pre op diet with phone support during this time. I had surgery on 01.10.18. I travelled from Northern Ireland to Manchester. I had all the information I required ahead of this trip provided Phoenix. The hospital is very accessible. The hospital is very impressive. The staff team are amazing and Dr Dorrian was around regularly before and after surgery to monitor and support. Day 3 post op I was able to leave hospital fully equipped with all medication I needed for the next six weeks and even a sickline for my employer! Such a professional service from beginning to end. I am due to have my first check up with Phoenix Health in Belfast this week. I am 2 stone 9lbs down from the day of surgery. I highly recommend you do it if you can!! Good Luck.

Ten years ago I had a gastric bypass not with Phoenix but nhs I noticed at the start of this year I was eating more and gaining weight .. I phoned Phoenix for help and spoke to the lovely Barbara .. I then got an app to meet prof Kerrigan absolute star he is so easy to talk to after my first consultation he persuaded me to see Denise ratcliffe to see if I could get back on track without revisional surgery .. I must be honest I was gutted .. I met with Denise who listened to my thoughts without judgement just understanding .. After this prof agreed to my surgery I was over the moon but most of all what I really was happy about was that he didn’t just rush in he was more concerned about my wellbeing then pound signs .. He has given me my life back and I will be eternally grateful to him and his fantastic team for this .. .. The fantastic care I’ve had from start and still going forward is second to none .. He truly deserves the great reviews .. He and all the team at Phoenix are the best trust in them and I promise you , you will never look back truly THE BEST !!!!!!

My mum underwent Bariartric surgery with Prof Kerrigan in January 2018. I was very sceptical of the procedure but I had to be supportive of my mum. During her first consultation Prof Kerrigan answered all of our questions honestly and put our minds more at rest. I can honestly say that this surgery is the best thing that has happened to my mum. All of her health problems relating to being overweight have disappeared and she looks fantastic. She can now run around after her grand kids and wear clothes that are fashionable. She can still enjoy food but in smaller portions. Most importantly, the surgery has extended her life by reducing her weight and you really can’t put a price on that. The team have been supportive and professional with my mum and the aftercare from Prof Kerrigan and all of his staff even 9 months on is brilliant. I can’t thank Prof Kerrigan and Phoenix health enough for helping my mum.

I had seen Mr Kerrigan on the television and thought he would be the best man to quite literally save my life but after a friend went to spire Murrayfield, I thought it would be closer for me to go there too...what a mistake! I should've gone with Phoenix and Mr Kerrigan from the start. Finally 6 weeks ago I had my gastric sleeve operation and after my check up today, I have lost almost 4 stone and my bmi has dropped by 10😊 I am SO happy and I would tell anyone who is considering weight loss surgery...go to Mr Kerrigan and the Phoenix team, they are ALL amazing from the administration staff to the consultants. I am finally getting my life back and looking forward to the future... Thank-you Phoenix😊😊

I finally made the choice to have surgery in December last year. I went for my initial appointment which lead to a very embarrassing melt down whilst admitting feelings I had never voiced to anyone. Charli that day was very understanding and also reassuring. After a discussion with Charli and Mr Stewart it was decided that a bypass would be best for me with my addiction to sweet foods. I had my surgery in January which went very well with very little pain. I found the first 4 weeks very difficult to deal with emotionally and struggled to find foods I liked or enjoyed. 2 weeks into recovery I caught a chest infection and virus from my children. I did end up going to hospital with a fear that my coughing had casued damage, The whole team that dealt with me over those next 24 hours were amazing even at 10pm Mr Stewart travelled from his home to the Nuffield to see me. Luckily everything was ok internally and after some extra rest I returned to normal. I am now 8 months in, I can eat a normal diet and have no food cravings at all. I have now lost 5 stone and whilst seeing Charli today I have been told I have lost about 71% of my excess body fat and my BMI is now at 29. Words cannot begin to describe how I now feel about myself when I look in the mirror each day, My confidence has gown, I am so much happier in my life. I feel that Phoenix and the support of Charli and Mr Stewart have given me my life back. I will forever be so thankful to the whole team for giving me back myself. This surgery was the best decision that I have ever made and I am now looking forward to the future for the first time in years. Thank you all so much, words will never even begin to explain how grateful I am.

After many years of yoyo dieting my weight spiralled out of control leading to many health problems. My family and I decided to enquire about a gastric band. My Mum previously had upper GI surgery under the care of Mr Sanjoy Basu which was excellent so Mr Basu was the obvious choice. During my original consultation it was suggested I had a gastric bypass as I'm borderline diabetes. I decided on the journey home to go ahead with the surgery. I needed other medical investigations leading to a 5 month wait to secure a date. During this time I was in constant contact with Barbara Moore who was more than helpful and answered all my queries. Finally March 14th 2018 I had my bypass surgery. I woke up in no pain except my arm ached for some reason. Mr Basu, Barbara Moore and dietician Gillians care has been impeccable. I would advise anyone use Pheonix Health. I've had no problems and lost nearly 4 stone. I feel great. I wish I'd had the procedure years ago. Not once did I have any doubts or fears...only excitement all due to my excellent care. At 55 years my life has begun..Many Thanks

I heard about Professor Kerrigan and his team at Phoenix from a friend who had researched and booked her bariatric surgery . I watched her bounce back after surgery and lose weight easily and it totally transformed her life. I was over the moon to observe her journey and decided to start mine in preparation for breast reconstruction as a result of breast cancer and mastectomy I met and had a consultation with the the Prof in January 2015 and we decided a Gastric Sleeve procedure was my option . My weightloss was immediate after surgery and it was an easy transition with the expert help and guidance of the Phoenix team. I have lost, and most importantly maintained , over 7.5 stone I think of it as being my own miracle - I eat everything !I get full quickly so I cant overeat and I never feel hungry any more . My whole approach to food has changed - I now eat to live and not live to eat. I am happy, healthy and slim !!!! AND I have recently completed my journey and had my reconstruction surgery after 16yrs of using a plastic stick on prosthesis. Two miracles !

Prof Kerrigan performed a gastric band procedure in 2009 which was initially successful and I was delighted with the weight loss. At the time, due to my sweet tooth, he recommended a bypass which I did not feel was the correct procedure for me. Sadly In 2014 this band slipped. Prof K and the team had me back in hospital and operated on in less than 24 hours - amazing. Over the last 4 years most of my weight crept back and last week he performed a mini-bypass which I am now recovering from. From my first call 9 years ago every, single interaction with the Phoenix team has been impeccable. From the perfect Barbara , to the wonderful Charli, the amazing ‘Emma’s’ not to mention Jennifer the surgeon. And of course Prof Kerrigan’s expert skill and sage advice. If WLS surgery is for you then you’re in the very best of hands.
