So just about to be discharged after spending 2nights in the hospital I must write a review, I had a mini gastric bypass done by miss Jennifer darrien, so far the care I’ve received has been second to none, I can’t fault one bit. I’m not sure where I’ll be in 12 months but I can reassure you I won’t be 21stone anymore! So for me Phoenix (miss darrien) has changed mine and my husbands life, hopefully when safe to do so we can have the baby we’ve been waiting for. So Thankyou so much!

I have just started my journey and am awaiting the operation to make changes to my life. I can not praise enough the staff of phoenix health, they have from the moment I inquired via email to the moment I spoke with Professor Kerrigan who outlined every aspect of the operation explaining all my options. if you are thinking of starting this journey then do not hesitate to contact them. I will post again after my operation. Dave

Due to multiple health issues and being very overweight... I had my gastric sleeve op on 16th December 2019 - I started to feel the benefits after the 1st day and now 14 weeks later ... I am no longer diabetic, my blood pressure and high cholesterol have lowered enough to have my 25 years of meds reduced, I've no longer got sticky blood, sleep apnea and no longer need my mask to sleep and best of all have lost almost 7 stone without exercise or dieting and never feeling hungry - thanks I feel like I've regained 20 years !!!

I had my mini bypass on 28th January 2019 and was very very happy with the whole experience. Since then, the aftercare has been exceptional and Charli, my dietitian, is always very quick to answer any queries I may have and always a pleasure to talk to. All the staff in Phoenix are lovely and I have lost 116% of my excess weight. Thank you all, especially Prod David Kerrigan

Having travelled to Belgium for my lapand and experiencing little to no after care, i decided for my sleeve to take no risks. I had thought about going with Transform but they proved to be really bad re customer service even rude before the operation so they got elbowed very quickly. I decided to speak to Phoenix following there fantastic reviews and duly spoke to Barbara, well breath of fresh air, honest and compassionate in all the right places. Met with Mr.Siddiqui, professional, personable open and honest. Operation booked on the date i wanted and apart from a blip with the spelling of my name at hospital causing a delay in going down to surgery. The surgery staff were really lovely and caring, the operation went well and i am currently 3 stone down, long way to go but definitely not disappointed, after care is at hand when required including speaking to nurses and dietitians. 5 stars

I had a one anastomosis gastric bypass on Monday 16th March performed by Miss Darrien at BMI Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle. I had a slight bleed at the port site a day later but it was no hassle for Miss Darrien to sort for me, she is always willing to help and very friendly. The care from all of the nurses and staff has been amazing. I went to theatre at 6pm Monday, very nervous as I've never had surgery before. I woke up at 9:15pm in recovery, wondering what I was so worried about. The anaesthetist calmed all of my fears and worries prior to surgery. Absolutely no pain, just discomfort from the gas. Highly recommend Phoenix Health for your weight loss surgery if you're thinking of going for it. I have absolutely no regrets about going for this surgery and look forward to seeing the results. A huge thank you to everyone involved in my care, especially Miss Darrien for giving me the chance to get my life back.

After years of living in the shadows, trying to blend into crowds and sitting in corners I decided that I needed to find the courage to ask for help with my weight. I first visited my GP in 2014, I broke down and cried when I asked for help as the realisation of the state of my mental health was really overwhelming and I felt devastated , disgusted and ashamed. My G.P referred me to 'changes weight management' under their care I went to cooking classes, physiotherapy classes, CBT appointments, dietician appointments and community exercise classes. Despite my full engagement in all of this I was only able to lose 10lb in 12 months. The feeling of being a failure set in and I was at an all-time low. In December 2015 my case went to panel and I was excepted for surgery at Aintree Hospital. In April 2016 Aintree hospital did not take on the contract for Bariatric surgery and I was told that Stoke University Hospital would be the new provider and I should wait for them to contact me with a surgery date. Between May 2016 and Dec 2016 I called Stoke on numerous occasions just to be told there was a backlog of patients and they could not give me a timescale for surgery. For over 12 months following this I sent numerous emails asking somebody to please get back to me. My weight had increased and my confidence and self-esteem was really suffering as I found it harder and harder to stick to strict diets barely losing and weight at all and felt completely soul destroyed. Eventually I searched the internet and found a telephone number for the Knowsley Commissioning team. I begged for them to look into my case and for my referral to be reinstated. I eventually found out that despite my original referral containing all the right information my hospital appointment letter from Stoke had been sent to a wrong address. My discharge letter had also been sent to a wrong GP practice. They agreed to reinstate my referral and I was referred to Phoenix Health. This was a massive turning point in my life, I was ready to start the new chapter and I was so glad that I now had been shown a light at the end of the tunnel. Phoenix Health is absolutely amazing, From the admissions team, to the receptionists, to consultants, surgical team, nursing staff, dieticians and everyone in-between. I felt listened to like never before. Every appointment I have attended I have never felt judged. You are such a friendly, fantastic team of people and you change lives. You support inspire and you care. I had my MINI Gastric Bypass on 5th September 2019. In 6 months I have managed to lose 54 percent of my excess weight. I am starting to feel free, I feel proud and I feel so incredibly lucky to have had this opportunity. Thank you all, from the bottom of my heart. I honestly feel like I have been given a second chance, I have so many plans now and the weight has lifted not just from my body but also from my mind. Thank you to each and every person who has been part of my care at Phoenix, and to my wonderful Surgeon I will forever be in your debt. Many Thanks Emma

From first deciding I had to do something about my weight Phoenix has been professional, caring and most of all understanding. I made contact with Phoneix in July 2019. My initial contact was Barbara. She has been magnificent, encouraging and so helpful from day one and continues to be now. As I had been so unsure about what weight loss surgery entailed, and what would be the best surgery for me, the consideration and worry of what life would be like post-surgery I went to several companies for consultations. Phoneix stood out in so many ways but for me, all the other health clinics were pushy with hard-sell tactics which made me feel like they were not thinking about my welfare. I had several consultations with Ms. Darrien at Phoneix due to my worries and concerns. Ms. Darrien has been unbelievable, she always listened to my concerns and explained in great detail which surgery would be best for me, never once did she try to push me into having weight loss surgery. She has been patient with my concerns. She recommended the One Anastomosis as the best surgery given my weight and diet at that time. I finally had my surgery on 13th January 2020, at Nuffield Health in Chester, my surgeon was Ms. Darrien. On arrival and throughout all the staff at the Nuffield were exceptional and made my stay there perfect. On the morning of the surgery, Ms. Darrien came to see me and explained what would happen on the day. Three and a half hours later I woke up and from that moment I wondered why I had been so concerned!! The operation was a complete success due to the professionalism and skill of Ms. Darrien. I had no pain at all and did not take any pain medication, in fact, had I not seen the five small incisions I would not have believed that the surgery had been done! Seven weeks on I had my first post-op consultation and I have lost 35% of my excess weight which is unreal. I have not had any issues with the new diet and have so much encouragement to continue as the results are amazing. When you have been overweight all your life it is hard to believe you can actually lose weight! Now I am!! If anybody is worried about making the jump to have weight loss surgery then take the plunge and do it - you will wish you had done it years ago as I do! I can not thank everyone enough. All the staff at the Nuffield, Barbara, but most of all Ms. Darrien - you have changed my life I am eternally grateful. Thank you.

Having originally seen an alternative group for an initial consultation and not had a great experience, from the minute I contacted Barbara I could tell I would be in safe hands with Phoenix. From my first phone call to my OAGB Operation was just about 6 weeks which was brilliant as I had done lots of prior research but also gave me time to speak with Charli the dietician and have a psychologist appointment over the telephone as well as my initial meeting with Ms Darrien. I made sure I stuck rigidly to the 2 week liver shrinking diet and I think that made a difference. My experience at Chester Nuffield has been superb. Great friendly, caring staff, clean rooms and although I’m only 2 days post op, I’ve been up and about walking around the ward, feel great and have seen the physio here who has advised me on breathing exercises to do to keep away any chest infections. My operation went well and the team managed the OAGB despite my BMI of over 60. I have had virtually no pain (some mild discomfort obviously) and the food and drink has been going down well. I can’t thank you all enough as I’m sure time will tell that this opportunity is going to change mine and my children’s lives for the better. Many more adventures to be had by them- and soon I’ll be able to join in fully too. A special thanks to Jemilia who is the kind of Nurse you need to get you going and encourage you to move and drink but who is also chatty and kind. And also to the two lovely Junior Doctors who took my bloods and checked on me. But obviously most of all to Jen and Prof Kerrigan for doing the magic- worth every single penny!

My name is Lynn Billington and I have always been big and in the last few years I have had problems with arthritis in my knees and hips. My orthopaedic surgeon would not operate until I lost weight. I went through a year and a half at Liverpool and then the commission sent me to Chester In June 2019 and I met Jen and her team and it was the best thing that ever happened to me. I had the operation but they had problems controlling my pain and I couldn’t walk about so I stayed in longer. Prior to the operation I weighed 161kg. I have had many complications since I have been home being sick and feeling sick all the time. I have struggled with eating and keeping it down. I have to say it has been a long journey but I’m now in a good place and that all thanks to Jen and mainly nurse Sandra Johnson who is an angel as she was there to listen and advise but not tell me I had to. She discussed things which I preferred and listened to and she listened to me. As from December 2019 I have now weighed in at 112kg and feel much better and will now ask my GP to refer me back to my orthopaedic surgeon to do my operations. I have also been taken off one blood pressure tablet as my pressure is right down also my asthma is a lot better but I do still have problems walking but that will also improve. If you do have your surgery here then you will have the premier treatment and aftercare you could ever wish for I cannot recommend them enough. I was so lucky to have NHS treatment with them. A massive thank you to all the staff at Phoenix health clinic and hospital for the help and ongoing support. You have all given me as I wouldn’t be as happy as I am today without you.

I had gastric bypass surgery under the care of the wonderful Jennifer Darrien just over 7 weeks ago... and at my appointment today I have lost over 30 percent of my excess body weight! Not only is Ms Darrien a outstanding surgeon she is kind, empathetic and understanding. I have had no complications and was back at work after one week. I have no idea what I was so anxious about, without thought or hesitation I would do it again! A mention also to Charlie the dietician for calming me down with all my food related wobbles and being on hand to give great advice! The psychologists Hannah and Denise for their support! All the nursing staff for their kindness and care and lastly Barbara for just being Barbara - possibly the nicest person on the planet! Thank you all for giving me my life back! I am loving living again , instead of just watching from the sidelines!

I had surgery (One Anastamosis Bypass) performed by Professor Kerrigan. Himself and his team were amazing. The surgery itself and the aftercare have been beyond what I expected. I cannot these anymore.

Both my wife and myself have had weight loss surgery from Phoenix. Every stage was made as easy as possible by the entire team, especially the surgeon, Professor Kerrigan and the dietitian, Charli Harper. We couldn't be more pleased - my wife has lost over 13 stone and so far I have lost over 22 stone! The support we're both still receiving is first class. They literally saved our lives! We cannot recommend Phoenix highly enough.
