Scammers. We signed up with Just Energy after hearing their sales pitch at a Sam's Club. They ended up charging us double what our previous company had, lied to us about it, and always seemed like they were just trying to get us off the phone. After the first month we went back to our old energy company, and after doing some research and reading reviews canceled the credit card we used to pay Just Energy because so many people are stating they'll charge you anyway as long as they have that info. They've since been trying to call us all the time, sent e-mails, etc and we've just been blocking the numbers and marking the e-mails as spam and such. The straw that broke the camel's back was Saturday. We were alerted to a line of credit that was opened without our permission trying to charge us for the past few months all at once and labeling it as delinquent payments. Tanked our credit score, and we had to wait until today to call the credit companies and sort this out. We told them everything, provided receipts, and said we want it removed from our credit history. We're also going to be contacting law enforcement to see what they can do about this because enough is enough. Read reviews across all the major websites and see for yourself how bad people are reporting this place as. And if you see their reps in stores don't talk to them, and if they're coming door to door in your neighborhood ignore them - and call the cops for trespassing if they're insistent and won't leave as I've seen a few reviews state.

They did not put me on the plan I requested and did not credit me or buy back my solar generation leading to me paying a regualr electric bill although I’ve had solar for 1 and half years and won’t give me any credit for all that wasted energy and time

Moved to this energy company in August after a recommendation from a friend and so far I have had no issues at all. However, I was recently a victim of credit card fraud where I lost quite a bit of money and so my card was cancelled. This then meant my Autopay was not successfully taken, however the minute I was notified of this I paid immediately. Just Energy also confirmed that they could see my card had been cancelled due to fraud. However, despite this, I was still charged a $20 late payment fee. My account shows that no payments have ever been missed. You would think that there would be certain circumstances and contexts where a late payment fee is not issued. As it seems I have been penalised further for having my credit card cloned which was obviously an upsetting experience to go through and completely out of my control. Customer service hasn't exactly been great regarding this matter. Currently wouldn't reccommend to anyone and will be moving companies as soon as my contract is up.

They are trying to charge me for over $500 for an electric bill I never signed up for nor ever agreed to.

These people charged me on my Enbridge bill and keep transferring me to different departments not taking accountability that I have been incorrectly billed for a smart thermostat that I do not have nor have ever had. They owe me over $2000 and I am considering going to small claims court. They are crooks. Do not ever sign on to any of their services. It will be a nightmare to cancel them.

I was in my home with my 2 children when I opened the door he presented himself as Lee with just Energy. I told him, I am with Reliant and have a good rate with them. He said that Reliant had a base fee and that Just Energy didn't. Sales Agent Lee said, that Just Energy, would only charge me for the consumption of the energy, and no base fee or other charges would be charged. He said I assure you, you will pay less than what you pay at Reliant!. I then let him know that I had a contract with Reliant and that they have a CANCELLATION FEE and he said JUST ENERGY pays cancellation fee in its entirety. I then told him that I was not interested but he was talking with my children already so he said to sign some documents and he will make sure that Reliant gets their cancellation fee. I HAD NO CHOICE! But to sign the documents he had on his tablet fast because I was afraid for my children as I had my baby in my hands and the sales agent wouldn't let me close the door. After this, I was charged an early cancellation fee of $295 from Reliant. JUST ENERGY DIDN'T PAY ANYTHING. I contacted supervisor Jude on August 22, 2024, and He said that the sales agent Lee lied to me because they do have a base fee and other charges but that he does not work for them anymore so they couldn't do anything to help me. Supervisor Jude said if I cancel the contract I will be responsible for another $195 cancellation fee from Just Energy. The electricity bill that they are sending me says $224 when normally with reliant was at $60-130. Now, I am stuck with a contract that I was forced to get into. If I cancel I will have to pay them almost $500 for the month and cancellation fees. To correct this situation, I am requesting a refund of the cancellation fee of $295 that was charged to my bank account by Reliant, and to cancel this contract without the cancellation fee along with the insane bill of $225 for this month.

So many customer service problems with this company it would take a day to write it all. They were the worst company I've ever been with and will never sign anything with them again. They couldn't get my email right or my address. It took over 15 phone calls and a lot of extra stress. Do not sign with this company

In Midland,Tx they have girls at HEB, Sams doing in store promotions. These girls do not know their product. They need proper training. They are trying to sell FREE nights and 9.50 cents per Kw. I asked does the price per Kw change/fluctuate? She did not know. She had to call someone and finally got an answer-the price per Kw changes/fluctuates. I knew it was too good to be true.

Salesman at Sam's Club lied to me about fees that I would be charged after canceling service. Don't trust Sam's Club. They tried to intimidate me with fees I didn't owe to switch back to their company. High rates high fees.

Just like the recent reviews, avoid them! I was with them from March to the end of July. I'm in my 20s, have always enrolled for paperless billing in any and everything that I do. My few months with them, I received only 3 emails, initial request for service, initial account information and final bill. I never received my monthly bills or payment confirmations. Every month I kept submitting request for paper free billing yet never received my bills online. By the time they sent the bills by mail and it made it throughthe USPS system, they were sending a disconnect notice and I was receiving them both the same day or a day apart, resulting in a late fee every month from them because these scammers refused to honor request of paperfree billing! I have had service terminated with them over 3 weeks ago and yet, they are still adding fees to a final bill from them?? An ACH reject fee(I use the same account to pay every bill and have had that amount almost 2 decades, yet it rejected for them??), and a late fee(I terminated service, I am not with you guys anymore!!) I will be putting negative reviews everywhere that I can from them and will be reporting them to the public utility commission.

I worked with just energy in 2014 with a friend. We were both recruited at the door one day when one of the door to door salesmen stopped at my friends house. We started our training shortly after and were told that there was no hourly wage and that it was entirely commission based, lucky us though- first assignment was in Montreal (2 hours from home). They told us that because we were being moved for the assignment they would pay us $400 upfront for accommodations to which we'd pay back via our first X number of sales commissions. To make a long story short, they essentially instructed us to scam people into buying these energy boxes that they'd get once a year- that were supposed to be so great that your bill would go be cut in half monthly- also a lie, and once their credit card was processed they be charged $20/month indefinitely. The problem was that the whole box was worth about $25 after taxes and in most cases, made no difference to your bill and even made it more expensive if you were already using energy efficient light bulbs, and customers wouldn't receive their box until OVER A MONTH, after signing up, and if customers called AFTER A MONTH of signing on, they'd be locked in and unable to cancel for a solid year. Essentially you wouldn't cancel until you received your energy box, but upon seeing how pathetic the box actually was, you wouldn't be able to cancel anyway, because they ensured you would only receive it after the 30day cancelation period. We were explicitly told NOT to explain this to customers. Our trainer would swoop in to lie to people if they started asking any trainees too many questions, and despite his awful appearance, danky smell, and questionable habits, he was relatively good at scamming people out of their money. He was also extremely unprofessional, at one clients home, he was invited in to smoke weed with them, and "trained", and drove us between neighbor hoods that day, high-as-a-kite stoned. We were 14years old at that time and he even tried to encourage us to partake, during and after work hours. This also happened way before the legalization. We never signed an employment contract with them, and were still sent off on the journey to scam Montrealer's. After 4 agonizing days, mid-july (+25-35degrees celsius) moving door to door for 10+hours a day, we were so done with the company and decided to take the cash we were handed and never look back the second we got home. THEN, were yelled at by our Trainer to give back the money because we didn't sell anything, and because we left AFTER we were given the money (after 4, 10hour door to door shifts that were apparently worth nothing). We essentially scammed the scammers and they were pissed. There was no contract signed or agreement that we'd pay it back or that they gave us anything, or that we even worked with them at all. Regardless of all of this, we had a few bucks left of the $400 and my friend's mom cancelled her subscription the day we returned and she heard what went down. Each commission was $20 by the way, so it would take MONTHS, to pay it back if you were given an out of city assignment. We were not told how much each commission was until they wanted the money back. No transparency with clients or employees. Totally ridiculous sales practices and atrocious work conditions and environment, for Employees. I have no idea what they are doing now, but based on this experience, save yourself the scam, and buy a few fancy lightbulbs from literally anywhere, and save your 1year-$240 subscription fee.

My gas bill went up 100 percent with Just Energy. Do not sign with them unless you want to pay more money. The reviews are not good for this company and wish I never got involved with them. What a waist of money and scam. I have already contacted customer service. Bottom line is that my gas bill went up 100 percent for the 2.5 months I had this service. Now that I have a straight NIPSCO bill, my bill is 1/2 what it was without you. No need to talk to Customer Service unless you want to refund my money I paid for this unnecessary service. Let me know.

Very bad support. Very hard to reach a live agent when needing help. Plus the rates are not what they sell you. They sell you one thing and the rates are way higher on the bill.

It's been over 20 days since I tried to activate or enroll with Just Energy Service. Every call takes a long time (1-2 hours), and just to have solid information, they requested documents for verification (which is expected). I sent the requested documents as per the enrollment email (ID and a second document like a utility bill), but they never replied, so I called them, and after 2 hours on phone jumping between agents, I was told that they needed another document, so I sent my home insurance contract. A few days went by, and I called again, and the same thing happened: a long wait and no solid information. For the third time, they asked for documents other than the 3 documents I already sent. I asked why that is necessary; the agent didn't know and put me on hold. So at the end, the explanation was that this is how our company works, and each company has a different protocol to follow. That was crazy, but I thought to get it short, and I sent my home lease. Again, a few days later, I didn't get any reply or email, so I called. The waiting was bad, and I had to speak to 2 agents; they didn't know why, but they asked for a 5th document other than the 4 I sent (my official state ID, my utility bill, my home lease, and my home insurance contract). So I asked to speak to a supervisor; clearly, the guy didn't understand the concept behind the verification, and he requested a copy of my passport. I asked him to answer a simple question: What should I send beside the official document I already sent? He didn't know, but at the end, he goes like, Mmm, send me a copy of your passport or social security card. I can't understand how they can provide services if they don't understand the business requirements and verification process. Not a good support department; I won't recommend their services. I'm glad my enrollment didn't go through. A business should have periodic training for employees to assure customer satisfaction and satisfy business needs.

I’ve been a Just Energy customer for years now and on 5/9/2024 I did a payment arrangement to avoid disconnection on my service. Payment went through but never received an email confirmation by Just energy like I normally receive with the terms. Today 5/18/24 Saturday I’m speaking to a representative over the phone about not receiving my payment confirmations like I normally receive them and he blames me that it is my email address or email domain at fault. He then tests and sends over a bill through email while on the phone and comes through right away with no issues and along with a survey to answer, but not a bill of confirmation of payment made. He explained he won’t fix anything on their end nor bring it to the attention to their IT because “I’m just one customer complaining about the payment issue” and no one else is. This is terrible customer service and I tell him “how are we supposed to be making payments if we won’t have any proof of payments being made no confirmations?” I can always change companies for this reason since I do not have the trust in Just Energy just to take their word that payments are going through when I can’t get proof by email nor mail that payment went through. This will not work for me! Either fix the issue with payment confirmations that customers can receive by email or you will loose a customer over this. He tells me he won’t do it and he can’t stop me from leaving to another company. Very lack of respect on his part with customers. If one customer service representative does not care, trust me when I say no one else in that company will care either. They believe customers not receiving their payment confirmations are not a big deal and that will allow them power over customers to just decide when or when not to disconnect your service since their is no proof of payments. This is a bad company for business. And I am currently searching for new service elsewhere online as we speak. Because just like that rep told me over the phone “he can’t keep me from leaving.” He was right! They lack empathy, reps barley speak English blame it on everything and everyone else. My concern is I need to know where my money is going to with proof. No confirmation receipts no payment made. The way I see it. You don’t care for customers, then we do not care for you and we will take our hard earned money and go somewhere else where we are truly valued customers. And no false advertisement.
