I was approached at Sams club by Just Energy representatives a month ago asking me to see my current electricity bill, I showed him and he said that he have some real good deal for 9.5 Cents KWh that is including TDU delivery charges and I just have to pay $4-$5 in taxes on top of 9.5 Cents KWh, I was paying 10.5 Cents all inclusive with previous company and he calculated my bill with his offered plan that I would have saved $70 if I have his plan on same uses, usualy I don't sign up for this kind of services without doing online research but he said that Just Energy have affiliation with Sams and being a Sam's customer for over 30 years, I decided to sign up and asked him twice to make sure that TDU charges are included in 9.5 cents and told me that it is all included in 9.5 Cents and I just have to pay $5 taxes on top of this, he satisfied me and I signed up for the service, today I got my first bill and I was surprised to see that Just energy charged me 14.2 Cents KWh including delivery charges for $108.00, I called customer service and I asked why your representative scammed me to make his sales commission by giving me wrong information, the lady told me that maybe I heard him wrong, I told her that I asked him same thing over ten times how I could have heard wrong, please be aware this is a scam company, please do not sign for service with Just Energy and do not believe what they tell you in Sam's Club. I am going to send a email to Sam's Club corporate office to look in to this matter and stop them from using Sam's reputation to scam innocent people.
I wish I could give them -5 rating! This is a Fraudulent company! They don't even send you an invoice! Pay only by credit card on their website. I got double billed. I'm glad I did not pay them and tomorrow I'm going to buy a prepaid Visa card from Canada Post, so they no information about my CC. Shame on Rebecca Mcdonald...Fraudster billionaire!
Cancelling my contract after they lied and misled. Truly avoid! I was excited to find what I thought was a reliable alternative provider for my new move. Energyrates.ca in my area says $64.99/month for maximum 15,000 kwh per year. No asterisk. Then on the phone the girl says 1500kwh per month and I said that is more than what is posted. She said yes that's correct. Up to 1500 per month... I sign up and put it under my wifes name as the primary so she can build credit and myself as a secondary. We get the contract... and it's now $64.99* for 8,000 kwh... I CAN'T BELIEV IT. I call in. They say their calls are recorded, I give them the info for the account and verify it, then this Indian can't understand what I am saying and says its 8,000 kwh and that delivery and transmission are the same thing and that energyrates.ca is not reliable or true and that my bill will likely be 120 per month but can't guarantee anything... so much for a Predict-A-Bill of $64.99. A complete mess and then he passes me to his boss and she pretends to not understand English very well and then says my name is not on the account and she is sooooo sorry, only the person on the account can make changes. Lied about price, and usage, pretends that I'm not on the file now (I set this up with them 2 days ago), can't access their own recorded calls (no surprise here), and just a disappointment. I don't have time for this and It's just the same old BS always. I do not trust this company and only write this review so that it will hep the next victim of these corporate criminals. 100% avoid. Wife is cancelling as I write this. Almost double the price for almost half the usage! Get real you crooks!
Signed up with JE 1 week ago. They were supposed to connect my power within 24-48 hours but they seemingly forgot and my apartment has been without power for the whole week. I finally had to sign up with the utility provider for emergency service coverage. Too much to deal with already, before any the other issues around billing and collections that other reviewers have mentioned.

MY ELECTRICITY COMPANY ( CONSTELLATION ) SAW AND NOTIFIED ME AND SWITCHED ME BACK THE SAME DAY. TARA(JUST ENERGY) Now WANTS OVER 200 FOR THAT FEW HOURS. CALLED TARA AND SPOKE WITH SAME RUDE GUY AND HE SAID THEY GET AWAY WITH THIS ALL THE TIME. TARA DID NOT HURT ME ONE BIT BUT DONT WANT ANY ONE ELSE TO GO THROUGH THIS. PLEASE DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND CHOOSE ANYONE ELSE Today is August 6th 2021 still have not Recieved a call back. Issue still unresolved .
I’d give zero stars if i could. I was lied too by the salesman and pressured to sign up. Your team is giving out false advertisement and lying to customers.
Moved us to direct energy without saying, then was double billed from both companies. Continued to pay Just Energy, not knowing about the direct energy switch over...got a big bill from direct to pay off. Response from Just energy was....ahhhhhh... Couldn't back out in the beginning when they said the first 3 months were free.....but never seen anything free. This company is a bleeping joke.
Snagged by the guy at Sam’s Club. Didn’t review rates, and while it’s my fault for signing up the rates are 3 cents higher than ppl. Glossed over terms and how to cancel. Customer Service had a great response by calling me directly and helping me cancel the service as well as talking through their program. Just not for us.
I have been with Just Energy for 2 years and they have always provided excellent customer service and a great rate. I just renewed and was amazed at how little my price changed. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to save money!
I signed up for Just Energy over the phone. After receiving my welcome email, I decided to cancel. When I phoned the number given in the email to cancel I was transferred around to FOUR representatives. The final representative argued with me about my reason for not wanting to continue with setting up an account with Just Energy. Finally, after agreeing to cancel the account (keep in mind it has not even been active and zero products have been used) the representative refused to give me a cancelation number for records. I was told I would receive email confirmation, which I have not. After reading other reviews I have documented names, dates and times of every interaction and would recommend everyone else to do the same to avoid charges going to collections the way other customers have. I will continue to email/phone/leave reviews until I receive documentation of cancelation.
A guy comes by around 8PM to do his spiel for Just Energy without a mask, during a pandemic, with elderly people living here. Extremely irresponsible.
Worst company ever! Predatory billing practices. Once you cancel with JE you get a collection notice without ever receiving a final bill. Buyer Beware!! I canceled with this provider on December 8, 2021, On 4/8/2021, I received a collection letter from CMC. Folks, In 4 months I have not received any invoices.. period!! This company is despicable. I wish I had never allowed that Lying Sales Representative in Sam's club to convince me to give Just Energy a shot. Never, ever, waste time with the crooked clowns like the ones at this company!! Look elsewhere! You're welcome!!!!!
I'm in awe of how terrible this company is. I was given a price that was TRIPLE of what I'm being charged now. I have the name and phone number and email of the representative who said she would honor the price and is now totally unavailable. I Have been emailing for WEEKS and when on the phone just now...after explaining the situation AGAIN was put on hold, only to be disconnected after an absurd amount of time. This is literally unreal how a company can just sell you one price and charge you triple the energy (promised 1.3C and charged 4.6C for the energy rate). And I can't even speak to someone to resolve. I wish I had known how terrible this company was before I signed up. Unbelievably terrible. Updated Review: I'm updating this to 3 stars after having my issue followed up and resolved. What I very much appreciated is that this complaint WAS responded to, that they did use the recorded phone call to substantiate my claims and with integrity did their part to resolve this. The reason I didn't give higher stars is because it took over a month to resolve, I had to take 3 different routes to finally get attention, and the run around and excuses I was given in between was frustrating and professional. Ultimately, I'm grateful to have been able to connect with someone who could fairly manage the situation to my satisfaction.
Don't send bills on time, the most useless "support" staff ever imaginable, rude "managers". Awful company. Literally go to any other provider in Canada and you will be treated better. This company should be dissolved. Grossly incompetent. Never sent me a last bill after I cancelled their garbage services and then tried to take me to collections, and then when I was willing to pay they refused to waive late fees. The only reason it went late is because you never sent me a bill. Funny how that works. Would literally rather have no power or gas then deal with this ghoulish company ever again. Quick google search shows how shady and corrupt this company is. Signing up people with dementia, forging signatures, signing up people who don't speak english. Scam artists. -why dm? You have my email, figure it out yourselves. Or can your company not even perform the most basic of functions? I've already wasted multiple hours of multiple days dealing with you troglodytes. Or are you all to busy signing up customers with dementia and forging signatures? 2 weeks I've been waiting for someone to send me proof of my contract and bill and they cannot even do that. Stick a chimp in front of a computer and you'll get faster customer service.
JE missed sending me a January invoice, then charged me a penalty for non-paymnt of the invoice I never received. Called me on the phone about the unpaid bill, then hung up on me when the line was so poor I couldn't understand what the caller was saying, and asked her to repeat a couple of times. Changed over to a local Canadian utility at rates 25%-35% cheaper than Just Energy's. We now buy Canadian and only Canadian.
Who the f..are you? My PG&E is over the roof! I never signed up a contract with you. It says that I need to pay $111. + my energy bill every month. I am calling your number, and I have been on hold for 25 minutes. Cancel my account now.
Just received a bill for $703.00 for 1 month. Called to cancel, no response. I am so sorry I got an account with JUST ENERGY! This company do not deserve the one star!
I was approached by a very friendly guy (Bryan Hilton batch # 1170966) at Sam's club of Katy Freeway (Katy). We convinced me of signing up with free nights and free weekends and I am looking at the bill and it only says free nights. He also promised a 45 dollar gift card and I have never gotten it. This was back in November. This sales person should be called by upper management because he is offering things and not fulfilling them. Im very disappointed and would not recommend this company.
I read the reviews and will not sign up. I have been on hold for 20 minutes trying to speak to someone to ask questions. I'm hanging up and going to the next company.
Bad collection practices First they call and leave a message telling you your account is past due and leave a number for you to call. When you call the number you are told they cannot give you any information and that you have to call your electrical carrier. My electrical carrier SCE told me it was a scam. So I looked up the main number which is in Canada and left a message. They returned my call, but the caller ID showed that it was some airline company so I did not answer. When I listened to the message it said they are returning my call and to call back. I told them of my issue and that SCE said it was a scam and that their number coming up as an airline instead of Just Energy did not help matters. They responded by saying they did not know why it comes up as that and that it has been that way for quite a while, and that they will “look into it”. Really??? What major reputable company would let something like that slide??? They said they would send me some documentation to back up their claims. It took almost two weeks to send it via email. Back to SCE...they finally found that I was using Just Energy in addition to SCE as they use “green Technology” to produce electricity and that my contract with them had been cancelled the year before! There was money due apparently, but to wait a year to tell me and threaten me with collections because it is so late is ridiculous. In the email they started sending 3x a week to remind me that I owe them money there is an online payment system (won’t take your account number), I call in to customer service, My card won’t process, (probably because they are in India or Pakistan). They transfer me..25 minutes on hold, I hung up. I did send a few payments via snail mail address on there almost daily emails. I get a letter from them saying that is the wrong address and gave me the correct address to pay. I mention to customer service that they are still emailing several times a week with the wrong address. They do not have an answer for me. I have also contacted JU with these concerns on their website. Whatever you do ...DO NOT GET MIXED UP WITH JUST ENERGY!
