I have tried so far Greek Souvlaki, Indian biryani and Spanish paella - all amazing flavors and easy to follow instructions. Absolutely delicious - my family just loved it, including my little one. Once a sceptic about food boxes but now I am totally converted! Cookaway boxes gave me so much pleasure cooking new types of food.
The delivery was arranged perfectly. The meal was as described. Fun to put together and tasted good.
Just finished my 3rd meal - Katsu chicken curry with pickled radishes, cucumber and rice. All I can say is like the previous two meals, chicken souvlaki and Goan Chicken Xacuti it was beautiful and so tasty with all of the ingredients supplied. I would highly recommend Cook Away so much so that I start my next selection of 3 meals at the weekend Greek Mezze Experience.

Ordered the Malaysian meal, consisting of four dishes, each of which required a different cooking method (steaming/deep frying/oven/stir fry), making it virtually impossible to cook simultaneously in a safe manner (without leaning over hot oil to tend to an adjacent steamer, for example!). Whilst the recipes were relatively simple, the instructions and combining of ingredients in the packing process made things take forever - three dishes had prawns, for example, so there we were weighing the prawns out [over 50g short I might add] to apportion across the dishes; and trying to cross-match all the recipes to make sure we weren’t over using any ingredients needed for other things. The ingredients, whilst good quality, weren’t especially specialist and could have probably been purchased for under £5 at an oriental supermarket (the stir fry was massively bulked out by noodles, for example). The recipes themselves were ‘ok’ but lacked punch - each would have benefitted from more garlic, ginger, seasoning - anything to elevate the flavours. The prawn fritters were lovely, but everything else was just ‘ok’ - would have definitely expected more for the price. It took over two hours for two experienced cooks to (safely) cook everything - and probably the same again to wash up all the pots/plates/pans/bowls/cutlery we needed!! It felt like the recipes and ingredients were designed to make Cookaway’s life easier, not the customer making the dishes … Have had much better examples of at-home recipe kits!

I ordered from here for the first time and am so delighted with the quality of the ingredients and the care taken to put the recipe together. We loved it and will definitely be ordering next time.
We did not receive our delivery as it was stolen from the courier (absolutely not their fault). Voicemail and email on Friday to advise they would be in touch on Tuesday to rearrange delivery. Didn't have any contact which was worrying but on Wednesday they got in touch to arrange a replacement. This arrived as promised, followed by a quick call to check everything was ok. Ordered the Chicken Dhaba, absolutely delicious. Generous portions and great quality. Recipe cards are super easy to follow with helpful tips. The chai was a lovely additional touch. Thank you 🙂

The food was good but it was more complicated than we expected
Amazing! Thought we would try this for my birthday and we have now ordered 2 more boxes! So well put together. An experience and a half! The chicken sadly wasn’t the best cut and lost about a full breast, but it didn’t matter as there was loads and it was all so so tasty!
Ordered the Japanese Katsu Curry. We had a great 2 hours making the meal - it did take longer following the cards and with hindsight there are ways to speed it up. Example, the veg even finely chopped was still lumpy in the sauce and needed a quick blender outing - with that in mind, it could be blended in step one. Taste was great though and the box came with everything in it! A fun night cooking a delicious meal!
When ordering I hadn't realised at the time a Biriani dish was a notoriously difficult dish to cook. However, after a daunting start following the instructions and labelled ingredients I somehow managed to prepare and enjoy a tasty meal with a strong sense of satisfaction and achievement.
Really enjoyed our chicken curry. It's great having just the right amount of everything to hand, and good instructions to follow. The flavour was lovely too.
