Delicious food, authentic recipes and very good ingredients. The instructions were clear. It did take me longer to cook, but I didn't prepare the veg first. I will do next time!
The Cookaway meal boxes I've tried so far have all been really tasty. I have bought them in conjunction with Cookalong sessions (live zoom walkthrough event with the chef) which is a super fun way to spend an evening and learn a bit more about the food. Easy to follow, and had great results. Only complaint would be their use of tiny single use plastic ingredient tubs - in an Indian Cookaway this can be quite a few!
Enjoyable experience. Food delivery was good quality and packaged brilliantly. Only problem was during cook a long seeing chef and understanding instructions clearly.
Great night cooking along with Ping. Lots of stories and fun. Had another masterchef chap cooking along too which was a surprise bonus. Opening the box of ingredients when it arrived was like opening Pandoras box...lots of fun. Food was fantastic, compliments from my entire household...its going to become a family favourite I can tell.

Took ages to prep & cook even with all the many packets & pots of ingredients already done. It was very tasty but not much meat by the time you took off the skin & bone.

It was very delicious! However the ingredients aren’t necessarily transparent and fresh for example this meal includes packets of pre-made store bought sauces with ingredients you can’t understand. I would have preferred the option to make my own sauce and fresh ingredients to do so.
I did the Malaysian Night Market Cookalong, and the positives were: - Recipes were well designed - Good quality ingredients - Personable, approachable presenter from Ping. The downsides were: - The amount that was required to be done was a overambitious, resulting in a very long, slow session and very hungry people! - A strange policy where they refuse to send copies of the recipe cards after ours became messy and damaged during the cooking process, so we cannot make the recipes again. - Slow webchat responses, despite the window saying "typically responds in less than a minute". Overall it was ok, but am unlikely to use again following these downsides.
Easy to follow with quality products
Our first live cookalong. Fun experience and learned a lot by listening to the history of Malaysian street food.
Bought it as a gift for someone and there's nothing but compliment from the receiver.
The instructions are very easy to follow and everything is already measured for you. The taste of the finished meals are spot on. The only disappointment was the strawberries which were on the wrong side of ripe and we threw most of them away
It's a good idea. Everything got delivered on-time. Instructions miss out quantities and sizes (how much oil to tip in... How big the pieces you are suppose to cut things in). Makes a big difference especially when you run out at the beginning as you have used too much of something.
We love rendang and were pleased with the end result. The items came well boxed and on time. There were plenty of easy to follow instructions, although it did take me a bit longer than suggested for prep and cooking - the end result was worth it though.
My second Cookaway and both times we really enjoyed our meals. It’s virtually foolproof cooking. The finished dishes always look good (a little effort to plate up well is worthwhile) and taste delicious. My husband and I have really appreciated cooking boxes during the pandemic and have tried many but Cookaway is the all round winner for the perfect mix of effort/value/fun. We’ve had such enjoyment from prepping and cooking together once a week and are still opting for this rather than eating out as a twosome. I’ve ordered a cookalong now for a novel family get together evening - okonomiyaki. Just hope my daughter’s kitchen is big enough for six chefs!
