Terrible company and terrible service. I would highly recommend anyone who has to use an umbrella company to avoide umbrella.co.uk at all costs and avoid using umbrella companies at all if possible. I am not the sort of person to leave negative reivews for the sake of it but my expierence with Umbrella has been so bad I feel like I have to leave a review to prevent other people making the same mistake I did. First off you have to work extreemly hard to get paid on time from umbrella.co.uk and they seem to think it's not their problem if you get paid on time or not. If you do not press them for payment the week before you are due to be paid you will not recieve payment on time. I worked with Umbrella.co.uk since the start of September and have had to move to another umbrella as I didnt recieve a single correct payment from them. They overcharged me for company margins in every single paycheck and I have have not recieved this money back. My company Margin was supposed to be £25 and they charged me £28.99 for every paycheck. On top of this all my paychecks were late so I had to be sent advance payments which makes it extreemly hard to keep track of what you have been paid for. On top of all this they refuse to send you payslip to verify what you have been paid for. For the first two months with umbrella I only recieved 1 payslip and still have about 3 payslips which are missing and unaccounted for. It is extreemly hard to get a reply to an email and if you ring them up they tell you they don't understand what they issue is and will look into it but then never get back to you. These problems were the same for about 10 other agency staff who started work at the same time as me. This is my first expierence working with an Umbrella company and once my current agency contract is over I will try and avoid working with one again in the future, they are extreemly flawed buisnesses in general and Umbrella.co.uk seems to be one of the worse ones. I have had no issues currently with my new umbrella and I am being charged a lot less for Margins and fees with far better customer service. Stay away from Umbrella.co.uk!!
Christel G from the Pensions department is a true gem. She is so helpful, pleasant and is a superb example of true customer service at its best. She's also very diligent, gets to the bottom of any issues quickly and always follows-up to make sure any actions are completed satisfactorily. I cannot thank her enough and commend her on providing such brilliant customer service.
My overall experience with Umbrella was really good ! I used them for my Ltd company over the last eight years. The only reason I never gave five stars was because at the time of my incorporation I had a few teething problems and a few hiccups with my initial accountants. I then took Nicola as my accountant and this was a benefit to me and my company. Always good with advice and assistance when needed. ( I was demanding at times) The rest of the staff in main were very helpful too. I would have no problem recommending Umbrella for their accounting service .

Umbrella have been dealing with my account/tax matters for the last 10 years with an extremely profession approach. I have always received accurate information and helpful advice from Nicola Worthington. I would have no hesitation in recommending Umbrella for all accountancy matters.
Absolutely useless company, the only thing you can count on them doing is sending you an invoice for them to get paid for cocking everything up. Got more information for free from a different accountants than I got from this shambolic lot. What they did tell me was rubbish also, avoid like the plague
I am left wondering how this company makes money because l have never seen anything like is in my professional life. I asked for complaints procedure because l need to let the people who have invested in this business a shamble service offered by this company. I have had my expenses not taken into account because they are being investigated with HMRC, why would this have impact on my wages? Please stay away from this company if you want to be sane. Disgusting, inept, unprofessional, rude , arrogant. I don’t know how they are still in business 😆😆
Extremely unreliable company. I can honestly say, I think members of their team are writing the good reviews. Don't expect to get paid on time, prepare yourself to be constantly chasing your well earned money.. I'm still waiting for mine now (not the first time this has happened).. oh and don't expect to actually speak to someone over the phone as you're on either on hold that long or you just can't get through at all. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!
I have been a limited company contractor for 23 years and last year decided to simplify my tax liability by using an umbrella company. I have used Umbrella for a year now and the payroll element has been seamless. I find the portal easy to use and understand. I have never understood why the about I receive has changed every week despite the same number of hours and pay submitted being consistent, but I imagine this is down to the complexity of HMRC and the minefield that is the British tax system! Superb company to do business with and after a short career break I am sure I will be back. Umbrella will be my first port of call.
My experience with Umbrella Co was visibly clear and professional with the movement of my wages and pension contribution.
Umbrella company looked after my finances for 9 months whilst I was working for the civil service. It was a stressful experience and one I never wish to go through again. One star is too good but that was the only option I was given. From day one I had problems. Firstly my salary was paid into someone else's account, then I was underpaid, then overpaid. I had to tell them about the overpayment and they ended up clawing back too much money. The information received was inconsistent and often wrong and to top it all, when I left it turned out that they had placed me on the wrong tax code, so I am now faced with a tax bill of over £4500. A truly dreadful company - at least from my perspective. I would strongly advise against this company,

Really bad customer services Requested contract and call back for questions on payrate no answer Dont be fooled use someone else I will change, they are so bad it's not even funny, not sure how on earth they got on the ir35 preferred supply list but they are useless
1 star is way too much. 6 months of absolute grief. I reviewed this company on the 21st September thinking it was done and dusted. Nope they then stuffed up my P45 as they did for my colleague. let me just list the issues I had over 6 months I was told on Friday “issuing the P45 is the easiest part” well how comes both myself and a previous customer of yourselves has had theirs both incorrect Your Payroll clerk - “don’t worry if the tax is wrong you’ll get it back in the long run” - excuse me I pay for this service for you to get it right! Every payday having to chase - and I mean chase- total - again a stuff up -was sent a text with someone elses salary on it No payslips for the first 4 months on your Ewage portal - just mailed and 1 liner payments which resulted in First Direct refusing a loan Countless phone calls to option 1 - never answered As nice as Christel is (someone reviewed below) and did keep me updated to be fair - I was refunded completely the wrong amount
I was having some problems with a partial pension transfer I wanted to do, I raised it with Umbrella and Christel stepped in. She was an absolute star in handling the issue . Very knowledgeable, prompt, proactive, empathetic, thoughtful , follows through - I could go on and on about her excellent client care. She saw to it that my matter was sorted out at the right level . I wish we had many more Christels - she is an excellent asset to any organisation .
I had to find an umbrella company quickly and was very happy with this choice. They are very helpful in particular Christel in the pensions team was very attentive in resolving a problem I was having. She communicated at every stage until the issue was resolved.

Well it seems other people have had a better experience of this company than I have as when I tried to make contact with payroll recently via telephone, I had to listen to music, automated messages telling me my call would be answered shortly, messages telling me I was first in the queue, then a final message telling me there was no one available to take my call and to ring back later. Not very good customer service in my opinion. Can't wait to change to another Umbrella company.
