Handy to use.. not 100% with the employer contributions I’m paying however Robs been brilliant in explaining things to me and easy to get hold of when I need anything. Just would prefer if I wasn’t charged for the employer just as I’m not earning more than I should be for the role I’m doing meaning I end up earning slightly less than I’m worth on a weekly basis. Would appreciate this being changed as I know that it shouldn’t fall to my responsibility to pay any employer contributions as I know with the pay I’m paid the umbrella company is intact my employer and should cover this on their end.
I am delighted to have switched to Umbrella.co.uk in October of last year. My consultant Robert Charlton! is always available and ready with sound advice. Any issues with my pay the company have resolved immediately. I look forward to the text of my pay for the next day, which is always there...an excellent service and company!!!
I had been searching for an Umbrella Company and was initially wary when Robert phoned me to warn me off registering with another company. I suspected that he was only touting for business. Further searches showed that his concerns were justified and that although I would certainly have received a larger wage in using someone else, it would have ended up with me being penalised by the HMRC and possibly fined.
Umbrella have been really great since I have started with them. My account manager, Nick, in particular has been extremely helpful in responding to me when I have had questions and queries. It is reassuring that when Nick is not in the office, a colleague of his will respond to me in his absence so I am not let worried.

The Umbrella Team have been really supportive to me. It has been a pain free start to contracting and Umbrella have been a big reason for that. My pension concerns for example were addressed by Robert Charlton with knowledge and professionalism, any questions or concerns I had were answered in a timely and an easy to understand manner.

Was with them for 3 months till I found they use one of the worst pension providers(Refer reviews for Options Pensions 1.7 stars ). After 12 weeks I was deducted employer and employee pension(8%). Never received a email for opting out of pension. Called numerous times to Umbrella.co.uk contact center every time was given a different excuse . Refer below the list 1. First call : Given phone number of pension provider(No one picks up the phone or replies to email. Wasted hours trying to contact Options pensions) 2. Second call: No one in pensions team is available, rude customer service agent told me She can't say much about Options pensions 3. Send a email : Got a reply back we are sorry process is laborious. (Clear reason for it is Umbrella.co.uk uses the worst pension provider. Have provided the link for everyone to check.) In summary As a contractor all I was expecting was seamless service, Almost all umbrella companies I had a chat with were happy to take opt out form signed by me and submit to pension provider. Rather than asking contractors to deal with Pension provider directly. Will be easy to guess, reasons why they will choose options pensions rather than some of the best and low cost providers. In the end I will say Pension amount deducted is 8%(3% employer + 5% employee). Which is considerable. You don't want your money to stay with Pension provider which is one of the worse(1.7 start rating)
Spoke to Rob Charlton on the phone and made the ordeal quick and painless. He also went out of his way to give a great insight into how my national insurance works, helping to give me a much better understanding.
