I'm surprised to see so many terrific reviews, leading me to suspect whether there is a drive by this company to request customers calling without any issues to write a positive review. I should warn that this company has caused me heightened suspicions. In the first instance, I was informed that this is the only umbrella option that can be used for my employment agency, but simultaneously that a monthly rate of £108 is taken as a de facto private tax on your wages. In my opinion, this is quite predatory in nature. I would ask that anyone else reading this who has fallen victim to this predatory practice to please report such issues directly to the Employment Agency Standards Directorate. Furthermore, there is the issue regarding holiday pay. Having only started at the end of the year, I'm now being informed that the major holiday periods will go unpaid because I had not accrued holiday, but despite this, I was permitted to request time off, with the expectation that it would result in this being reflected within my wages, only for it to be seen after the fact that this was not the case. However, the £27 weekly 'surcharge' has been taken out. I would recommend to view these complements with suspicion, read your contract closely, and if you are informed by your employment agency that this is the only umbrella option that you are permitted to use, to immediately report said agency to the above referenced complaints inspectorate. Update: Thank you for your reply. While I appreciate your concern and invitation to contact your customer services team, I must highlight the following points to address the inaccuracies in your response: 1. Mandatory Umbrella Requirement: I stand by my statement that I was informed by my employment agency that yours was the only umbrella company I could use. If this is incorrect or in violation of employment standards, I would suggest you investigate the relationships between your company and employment agencies to ensure no coercion or misrepresentation is occurring. 2. “Private Tax” or Administration Fees: While you state compliance with HMRC, this does not address the fundamental issue that contractors are subjected to a monthly fee (£108 in my case), which feels both excessive and predatory. Transparency does not mitigate the fact that these fees are significant, particularly for workers who are already paying taxes on their income. 3. Holiday Pay Misrepresentation: Your response fails to address the issue that I was permitted to request time off under the impression that it would be reflected in my wages, only to later find out I was not entitled due to lack of accrual. Meanwhile, the weekly surcharge of £27 continued to be deducted, leaving me financially penalized. This lack of upfront clarity is a serious concern. 4. Trust and Review Authenticity: I also find it concerning that your response does not address my observation about potentially incentivized or solicited reviews. Given my own negative experience, the overwhelmingly positive reviews appear inconsistent and raise questions about their authenticity. While your claim of a 16-year track record and UK-based customer service is commendable, these points do little to address my specific concerns or alleviate the perception of unfair practices. I urge others to thoroughly review their contracts, question any mandatory use of a single umbrella company, and report any concerns to the Employment Agency Standards Inspectorate for further investigation. I was helped by Nicolas and I honestly believe he is the best man to have you resolve your issues with. He always responds promptly, respectfully and professionally, and never fails to keep his words when he says he is going to get back to you. He is so patient and understanding whenever I asked what other people might say are dumb questions, but he explains so well the answers to your questions and concerns.
