FAQs
Have tried to contact them on many an occasion regarding a tree falling down over my garden with no reply at all. The branches may just fall and hit me next time, lets just hope my two year old daughter isn't underneath it. Actually unsure where my money goes every year as no one will tell me and I have seen one contractor mowing grass once in twelve months. Great business model they have, I would love to be able to earn thousands and thousands for doing nothing and not having to be accountable for it in any way at all. Terrible attitude on the phone. The worst company I have ever had to deal with. Local authorities and the government need to clamp down on these companies criminal behaviour without breaking the law.
If I could give this ‘company’ no stars then I would. They employ the cheapest and therefore shoddiest contractors, do not supervise or check work carried out, pay minimal site visits and do not follow up complaints made . The difference on our estate ( east of Scotland), between landscape maintenance carried out by the Greenbelt contractor and other firms is like chalk and cheese. When we finally move to a new house the only requirement I have is that Greenbelt are nowhere near it. Appalling company, now becoming a laughing stock, a byword for incompetence.
I have a greenbelt area behind my house and the trees are overhanging I to my garden and blocking light and satellite signal to my property. I have tried to speak to someone about this but every line leads to an email address. I have now emailed twice in the last two months and have had no reply. Shocking customer service.
The company blows leaves from communal areas onto my garden so they dont have to deal with them. I saw them do it. Soni have to spend weekends cleaning up thousands of leaves from communal areas and take them to the dump. So, to be clear I have no choice but to pay hundreds pounds a year for a service, and I end up doing the work I'm paying them to do.
Worst company ever. They are changing you lots of money but you can't see work they have done. If you will ever think about dealing with them, better find someone else. It will save you money and lots of stress.
I have owned a property on the Bannerbrook Park estate for the past five years and the level of service provided by Greenbelt has been consistently atrocious. During the first couple of years, a number of residents including myself raised queries regarding misleading statements designed to conceal the fact that residents on only one side of the estate were charged for the upkeep of the park and children's play area. The residents association (and we as individuals) wrote to Greenbelt explaining why we would not be paying until the matter was resolved and this was agreed, however we continued to receive frequent aggressive phone calls, letters and bills including ever-increasing late payment charges. That park issue was partially resolved after a significant amount of time, when the local council took over part of the park, after much obstruction by Greenbelt. On a more general note, Greenbelt's maintenance of the common areas on the estate has been incredibly poor. For example, the terms and conditions state that maintenance visits will be carried out monthly and any dead trees will be replaced the visit after they are noticed. Greenbelt are certainly charging for the visits, however there are a significant number of dead trees (along Astoria Drive, if you're reading, Greenbelt!) which have been in the same sorry state for well over two years. Likewise, the grass in the park area is often left uncut for far longer than the terms and conditions indicate, to the point that it often looks significantly overgrown. I received the latest bill last week and this reminded me to follow up with Greenbelt (yet again) to query when the trees will be replaced. A week has passed with no response to my email - yet another example of unacceptable customer service. All in all, I can confidently say that Greenbelt are the worst company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with.
Now understand the eye watering £7380 estate wide 'Admin Charge'....... it's to pay numerous staff to reply to all critical Trustpilot reviews! I'm kicking myself for having rose tinted glasses when purchasing our dream home and not looking more thoroughly into how this company works. 'Fleecehold' will no doubt become the new PPI or Leasehold that has brought cost and misery to unsuspecting customers and unfortunately the owners/directors would of made their millions and jetted off into the sunset by the time this practice has been outlawed. A £14.9 million net worth company as of 2018 with 10% year on year growth looking for as many ways to make as much profit as possible by issuing uncapped non transparent fees. When we have no choice in who we choose to look after our open spaces shouldn't companies such as this trade as 'not for profit'? Welsh Water successfully do this! Local and national newspapers are now reporting on this company.... Typing 'Fleecehold' into google will give anyone looking into purchasing a new build property an insight into this company and its dealings. Unfortunately the general public caught up in Greenbelts clutches cant help but feel their being taken for a ride!
Bill has gone up £40 this year even tho they have not done anymore work than normal, more houses have been built on the estate but no extra play areas etc for them to maintain, The building companies own gardener does all the grass next to the pavements. I have tried calling them to ask why but not answer and no call back. I received my bill today and it says that an inspection was done by a supervisor every single month and in the 4 years I have lived here I have never seen or heard of anyone coming around apart from the guys that sit on a lawn mower and race around (every 5+ weeks).
Again, one star too many. Unfortunately customers are trapped by this company, who just take take take. We were two weeks late (having been on holiday) in paying our annual fee, we promptly received a red letter, followed by a very rude phone call from their debt collection department! The rude member of staff hung up on me the moment I began to challenge the premature call. As for the work carried out, and the state of our open area, it’s absolutely unbelievable the money they take, and seem to be able to charge people without question. GB are in a great position as they’re probably well aware that it takes communities a lot of work, effort and finances to get them out!! I can relate to every review I have read on here.
Reply to Greenbelt I disagree with the contents of your reply and maintain that it is you that are confused. I really don’t care whether you agree with my posts or not. They are an account of my dealings with your terrible company, they are there for other people to view (over 600 people) and on that basis my objective was accomplished. My posts were never removed by Trustpilot, if they broke the rules and guidelines that you claim you should have had them removed or have you tried to have too many removed? The object for a company to be a paid member of Trustpilot is to engage customers; Build loyalty; Enhance online Reputation; Improve Reputation, sadly you have FAILED ON ALL COUNTS. On the contrary you have driven customers further away from you. YOUR COMPANY DISGUST ME AND I AM NOT GOING TO WASTE MY VALUBLE TIME Perhaps I will continue Greenbelt reviews on other review sites
As previous one star is more than greenbelt deserve. Poor service, poor communication and basically a tax by proxy as agreed with persimmon
Wish I could give zero stars but as one is the minimum, it is still too high of a score for them. This company is nothing but daylight robbery, charging ridiculous fees for grass cutting, monthly inspections and charging those living on the estate for any damage and vandalism despite children from all over town using the park!
Poor work carried out and corners cut at every opportunity. Customers not asked before non essential work carried out. Green belt charge exactly what they want to and customers not permitted to get other, cheaper quotes. A absolutely disgraceful customer service. Truly shocking what they get away with.
Poor communication and terrible value for money. Unfortunately the contact email on their website does not work. The list of services provided is vague and there does not appear to be a vision provided for future developments on the site. I would hope that this information would be shared in detail. With the amount of money being paid, I would have a liked to see improvements made to the children's play areas over the 5 years that the estate has been in existence. Unfortunately, maintenance is all that is taking place and this is often substandard with weeds in the road and bark in the gardens not being replenished.
Greenbelt are only good at one thing - receiving money from residents for doing nothing. Unusable children's play areas amongst a range of other services that are not carried out. Currently collating a gallery of images to prove this . Every resident in muirside wish to replace them and I look forward to assisting in this along with three local councillors.
Unfortunately if you buy a new build home in the U.K., the chances are that the communal areas will be handed over by the developer to a “managing agent”. This agent is responsible for keeping the areas well maintained, to hold appropriate insurances, and ensure that communal areas are pleasant for all residents. Not when Greenbelt are the ones that are the managing agents. I am grateful that I now no longer have to suffer their poor customer service. The only thing they are efficient at is sending bills. The bills themselves are broken down, containing lots of work that can not be evidenced. When you challenge greenbelt on the costs, they get very confrontational and simply inform you that you’re legally obliged to pay their bill. There is no oversight, and legally speaking, they’re able to charge more or less what they want, and you’re not able to challenge it. If you withhold payment, saying that the bill is being challenged until they provide evidence, they will threaten court action and prevent you from being able to remortgage or move house. That was the only reason I kept all my bills up to date, as I knew I would want to move. They also try and slap you with charges on your bills for late payment. As there is no credit agreement in place, they should not do this. But, it’s another way of gouging money out of customers. If you are interested in a house, and see greenbelt are the managing agents, run a mile. Do your homework on the company and read up on publicly available.
As expected, I received the standard glib reply from Greenbelt where I am wrong and they are both right and wonderful. Makes me wonder why Greenbelt have since deleted their response?? Does it not tell a story where there is an extremely high amount of complaints against this company which also results in court cases? Their work, management and supervision as a company falls to the standard of severe negligence while still charging eye watering amounts for work NOT carried out. For example, in the schedule for this estate in Hawick, Greenbelt are responsible for weed spraying one metre from the rear garden fencing. We have nettles that are almost as high as the fence itself. Looking out my window I can see weeds running all along the road kerbs. This should have been sprayed but in fact, they haven't been touched for months and it is more than obvious that their inspectors are neglecting their responsibilities. Standard practice is for all work on common ground is at least three tenders sent out and the results sent to the residents to choose which one THEY want to carry out the work and not Greenbelt making the choice for us. No doubt there will be yet another glib response from Greenbelt saying, ehhh, you are wrong and we are right. They are a joke.
Greenbelt, with reference to your reply to Martin Shubert in the last few days, has left me confused and financially concerned. We reside in the same Estate as Mr Shubert and are also being charged a whopping £38.22/month. If the figure quoted by yourself is correct, £23.57 + vat/month, then we and the rest of the residents in our Estate at Paterson Gardens have been apparently overcharged for a number of years. Your comments would be welcome. Update.....7/8/19, Greenbelt have now deleted their reply to Mr Shubert that I was referring to. However I did take a screenshot of it prior to it being removed, lol
Just looked at the job that greenbelt did in Tranent windygoul area: grass cutting very poor with tons of leftover grass scattered around , did you guys ever heard about trimming the grass around lamp posts ,close to the fences etc? Reading all the reviews and your answers there is no single answer from you admitting your poor practice. Instead of this you raising requests with trustpilot to delete reviews as in appropriate. Very disappointing indeed
As my property is now sold, this problem is someone else's problem. Again Greenbelt you have spouted rubbish, and claim mis-information etc. You seem determined to report each and every negative review you get, regardless of the fact that the reviews are from legitimate customers past and present. I stand by what I originally posted. I have reported your positive reviews one is even an ex employee! however for some reason these "false" reviews remain. Goodbye Greenbelt, see you in court. One star as you cannot give less to leave a review. surely not all of the negative reviewers are wrong? Even though Greenbelt will report nearly all of the reviews for breaching Trustpilot. All they want to do is intimidate the reviewer to delete their review or have Trustpilot delete the review for them. Perhaps Greenbelt should put as much energy into improving relationships with estate members as they put into reading and responding to Trustpilot Reviews. Making false claims that the content is defamatory. The one over-riding defence to so called Defamation is "VERITAS" which means truth!
