WorthPoint - A community dedicated to antiques, collectibles, memorabilia, and the valuation of rare items. Research and get appraisals for your antiques, collectibles, memorabilia, art, and more. What’s it Worth?
I have been using worth point for over seven years to look for values of items that have been sold on eBay or other auction platforms. It helped me to determine the value on many rare items that I had purchased that, in some cases, hadn’t been sold in years on eBay. It’s sad that some people don’t understand that it is not a website that has things for sale but it merely shows what things have sold for in the past. As far as the folks trying to get a free trial, they need to read the fine print. I do understand what it’s like to want to get something free but they compile millions of auctions worth of information to help those that use it best identify what they have and what its value is. For the person that is a buyer and seller of valuable items, it is an extremely valuable tool and well worth the monthly rate that they charge.
Not a fan of needing to jump through hoops, keep track of the fine print, in order not to be charged for my "free" trial. A good rule in general is to avoid services that offer "free trials", but do so only when you give them your credit card info. It also says a lot of how worthwhile they find their service...
Ahoj, Jmenuji se Nikola Trojánková. Ráda bych se zeptala zda by náhodou někdo neměl doma tuto panenku prosím?
Wants to charge my credit card right waway for the free trial. I will wait until June the 5th
There is no way we can delete worthpoint from our searcing for an item/ We look for an item and worthpoint has 6 listed but we cant buy unless we join their club. IT IS NOT RIGHT
Worthpoint should be called “worthlesspoint.” who in their right mind would want to pay money out to receive info on a certain item where in most cases you can google for free. I still have yet to see the worthyness of worthpoint. In most cases the material is “outdated.” Example – what you sought was purchased by someone else months ago. Also Worthpoint maintains they do not sell personal info like email addys to 3rd party sources. Strangely enough after I signed up I started receiving tons of spam and robo calls from places I had never heard of. To make a long story short Worthpoint ranks right up there with pinterest. For the life of me I fail to see where the site really does anything other than take your money. Of course this just my opinion from my own personal experience. But many others feel the same way.
Worthpoint has the potential to be an incredibly valuable resource. However, having been a paying subscriber for over a year I've learned that they are missing huge chunks of data. Take the keyword "Gunne Sax dress". According to eBay, 2-3 Gunne Sax dresses sell per day on average. There are over 1,000 sales of these dresses on eBay for the last three months. But if you search Gunne Sax dress on Worthpoint, it lists only one dress sold on eBay in all of 2019, the rest of the results are for patterns. As a seller of Gunne Sax dresses, I can say with absolute certainty that this is not correct. This problem is not limited to Gunne Sax dresses. In most of the searches I do data seems to be missing. I tried contacting the company three times without success. The first time customer service sent me a sarcastic reply dismissing my concern. The second time they told me the "data had not updated yet". The third time they told me they would look into it but never did. If you are using Worthpoint for price research, know that the information you get from this service will not be complete. I do hope they fix it at some point.
This site has old, out of date information. BEWARE... I tried the 7 day/7 look-up FREE trial. When trial was over, I had a pop-up advising that if I move forward I would be charged $23.99 per month. I chose NOT to move forward - as this information was out dated, therefore not worth the high price they charge. Without my knowledge, they charged my account for 3 months regardless. I didn’t catch it, as I didn’t feel I had to watch for it. Apparently, the fine print reads that you have to cancel your FREE trial! NOTHING IS FREE!!! BEWARE!!
Ok. So was hunting for a rare book which had popped up on Worthpoint. Never heard of the company or its many bad reviews. The book details were there. But the sell date and cost are only revealed when you subscribe. Decided to use the seven day free trial. Only to discover the book was sold in 2011... well no harm done I thought. Least I know what it costs and that people sell it. Here’s where it gets tricky. They are very sneaky. 1. You have a 7 day free trial. But if you search more than 7 things your trial will automatically charge for the month. Yes they say that. But it’s very easy to gloss past that bit in the small print. 2. Also there are many buttons to accidentally end your free trial and get a full paid subscription. Some poor people have managed to select a yearly subscription. 3. If you want to delete your account be prepared for some googling, more googling and more googling! Lots of dead links on google. They know what they are doing. In the end after scanning the email to no avail, tried the trouble-shooting section. It’s maybe a little telling the how to delete your account is missing a sentence at the end. However managed to delete it finally. 4. Have taken a screen-grab of it as some people here have said they were charged unnecessarily and subscription hadn’t been cancelled. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen. It’s not all bad. Frankly a lot of people here are mad because they didn’t delete their account in 7 days. But that’s not the company’s fault. Also if you’re an eBay seller this would be very useful. But if you’re casually looking for one thing avoid!
Worthpoint! I am actually freaking out! I signed up for a free trial today so I could siimply look at the price of an item, and then I cancelled the trial. I checked my bank account later, and I will billed 39 dollars! Why did this happen? I was doing a FREE trial and I didn't even have it for 30 minutes! Please explain, because it's very difficult to even contact these people. I'm very upset and need help!
Apparently while trying to evaluate how much something was worth, I signed up for an automatic renewal subscription service. When I called, they agreed to cancel the subscription but did not agree to refund the money charged to my credit card. This is a scam.
I only give it a generous two because it has only found one of the two art titles I needed appraised. My main reason for writing today is because I have called Worth point a few to times but to no avail . I have emailed them a few times also but still crickets ! The reason for the last two attempts to contact was to let them know I do not want to even finish my 7 free days .I want to unnnnnnnnnsubscribe ! Immediatelyyyyyy! I saw on this very sight within one of Worrh Point’s rare answers to a review of how to unsubscribe; it said there’s a red button but I find no such magical red button . So alas what else is a “ mere mortal of a worth point subscriber “ to do to get them to acknowledge that I have repeatedly asked to unsubscribe?! I will use this platform to declare that I am officially trying to yet again notify Worth Point that I want outtttttt ! You see Worth Point may say they never received any email from me but at least I have made my intentions m own here . Today talked to Miranda there who said she was going to send me an email confirming my unsubscribing but she just as Jay has told me that she was emailing me but nada!
WorthLESS service. I looked up 2 items on the site within minutes of each other and cancelled the service. I was then billed $19.99 which I disputed through Paypal. The money was returned to me but then sometime later I got a notice requesting my service agreement that I could no longer obtain because I wasn't a member. The money was then taken back. All for a service I didn't even use. Skip the "Free trial" and just do a little research yourself. It will save you money.
I have been selling on ebay for years and wish i would have found this site sooner. I love it. I sell on ebay, some items are seasonal with this site you can look up items for all times of the year, so you can know the price of a item for high season.
I run an estate sale company and I have been a paying member of Worthpoint for years and years. Lately, every time I try to log in, they tell me it’s not the right password or user name, so I enter the user name, change the password, and then the next day I try to log on, and nothing has been updated. Now I’m getting the message, “Too many attempts to log on” and they won’t let me log on. Well of course there are too many attempts to log on, because I must try about a dozen times thinking somehow I’ve entered something wrong, so I try to reach customer service on the phone, which is of course an exercise in futility, so I try online and they send about 20 of those irritating verification images that prove you’re not a robot - click on the number of squares that bicycles are in, or crosswalks, or stoplights - and the image is blurred and it’s just tricky enough that you ask yourself, “Does that sliver of a bicycle tire in one of the squares count?” What a mess of baloney. Why can’t you just be an honorable company and do the right thing. You’ve raised your prices and the service just sucks. I have now spent a ridiculous hour of my valuable time trying to just log in. Even trying to write this review was a major hassle. I belong to a nationwide estate sale providers forum and also a large eBay sellers discussion group and I guess I’m going to have to share my thoughts and experiences with them as well, since this is becoming a joke.
I signed up to a "Free Trial" for one week with this company. I was able to reveal one price for one item, before it again blanked out the prices and said I needed to upgrade my subscription, so I did not even get a weeks free trial for this, which from reading other reviews, it would appear that other people have had this same issue as well. I then tried to cancel my subscription, for which it repeatedly told me I did not have one. And then before 7 days was up, I was debited £31.90 from my account. I have emailed Worthpoint as I am from the UK, so I am unable to call them up. And this was 3 days a go with still no response. Customer service is very slow, and pretty abysmal so far. I have seen that Worthpoint have kindly refunded a few of the unhappy customers on here, and I feel as though I can only hope for them to reply to my emails! I wouldn't recommend this company at the moment, it's all a bit unclear and very upsetting to be charged for a service you did not receive and tried to cancel multiple times! And seeing as so many other customers have had the same problems over and over, you'd think they'd change the way they operate by now! I will update my review if I ever get a reply from them.
I signed up for Worthpoint in order to research what similar items have sold for. I was told that in order to see pricing I had to have an account. I signed up for an account (albeit with a 7-day trial period), but when I again tried to find out pricing of a specific item, I was then told that in order to see price sold for that I would need to "upgrade" my account. To upgrade I needed to pay an additional fee that was NOT a trial period price and would be billed immediately to my credit card. I think this qualifies as "bait and switch". Very unethical company !
We have used Worthpoint for years and have found it to be a valuable tool in our on-line eBay Store.
Have been selling on eBay for over 20 years--at times while researching an item, in effort to establish a realistic worth, I end up at Worthpoint. Having submitted in excess of 80,000 photographs for my 20 year user ids on eBay, not unusual for me to see a photo of an item which I had posted years ago. What allows Worthpoint to sell my photos ?
The site states: "Free for 7 days or 7 price lookups. You'll only be billed if you continue the service without cancelling". They can clearly see I logged on to their site one day, for one item. I did not 'continue the service' - so did not cancel. 2 months later I notice I've been billed for 2 months. They would only refund one month. When I asked who else to speak with a manager, I was told "I was speaking to the supervisor - and if I attempted to contact the company they would only direct me to her so it isn't worth it". Sad way to get money As it has been said numerous times in these (and other site) comments - they should either refund those who did not use the site, or change the way they are doing things so this would not continue happening.
