The Early Music Shop, Salts Mill, Victoria Road, BD18 3LA, Shipley, GB
When we visited 20 years ago (in Bradford) we were welcomed, shown where new instruments, used instruments, kits etc. were, what we were welcome to try playing, and then left to explore, with the understanding that we could ask questions or seek assistance. This time, at Salts Mill, we were pretty much ignored, the range of instruments seemed less and it was not clear what would be okay to try unless we managed to get some attention and ask. When we did, my questions were answered, but no extra information offered pro-actively. It was a bit sad after travelling 3 hours that day to get there (and over 24 hours to get to the UK). Anyway, I am very happy with the recorder stand and roll case I bought, and my son found the string and keyboard instruments interesting to see.
Easy website to use, for something we'll outside my comfort zone!! Speedy delivery, great products. I am very grateful.
Very helpful and good prices.
My order with the Early music store went very smoothly. I live in Canada and the order had to be shipped internationally to me. Arrived in good shape. And in a timely manner. When I was arranging it, they were very quick with a response by email
Nice instrument
I buy via internet. Bought once and had a nice experience.I like the variety of music books and the way the delivery was done. I have a feeling of trust in your firm and that is nice.
The person I spoke to was highly informed, patient and most helpful. I will be using this shop for all my future early music related purchases.
Web service and follow up first rate.
Excellent experience (again) with The Early Music Shop. In the last few weeks we've had two recorders serviced, and ordered music. All requests were managed promptly with good communication and very reasonable costs - thank you!
I'm happy with the books I ordered; no problems there. But the packaging was so flimsy that they arrived slightly damaged at the edges, which is a no-no for me. Plus, in addition to the shipping costs, I had to pay on arrival about 10 euros in customs charges due to my living in the EU. That was an unpleasant surprise, and I think a sort of warning should be placed on the website.
Prompt and efficient service, notice of delivery received in good time. The packaging of the two books ordered could have been better done: the size of the box was excessive and the bubble wrap was just dropped on top instead of being wrapped around the books.
I am still awaiting part of an order and have had no correspondance to say when it will be sent out to me
Excellent impressions of the Early Music Shop: Word-of-mount reputation. Product reviews from customers. Assortment (breadth and depth) of products. Reasonable product prices. Website: product descriptions, product search capabilities, videos, etc. Price, speed, reliability, trackability of delivery. One quibble: I asked for information on why my very first purchase from The Early Music Shop was taking so long to deliver and did not get a reply. Was it out of stock and back-ordered? Was it discontinued? Had my order been lost, delayed? I was only told, a month after my order, that the product was being sent out. An interim update or explanation would have been reassuring. On the other hand, my next order was delivered very promptly.
I ordered notes for flute online. The product was available, lowest price I found. Easy to order online. Delivery trucking was very usefull. Very fast response by Early Music shop
My tenor recorder arrived in perfect condition and on time. The instrument itself is lovely.
Always ordered and devices promptly. Many thanks.
Excellent service . Friendly staff. So pleased with.my baroque guitar. Recommend this company to anyone
Because you won't stop sending me emails to rate something I didn't actually buy in the end, even though I reminded you of that.
Unusable cord for drum
Visited to buy a wooden descant recorder. Was given access to practice room and allowed to try all instruments in my budget. I wasn't hurried. Bought a modestly-priced Kung, which I played in at home for 4 weeks. I felt the instrument was flat, so revisited. The recorder technician adjusted it within 24 hours and gave a bit of advice on playing. It now plays very nicely and in tune. My only advice is to check who's available before you visit. Expertise varies, as you'd expect, the technician isn't always there, and only certain staff can do deals (for example if you're looking to sell).
