been using it since 2023, great choice if you want to get limited goods asap since you can pay the shipping fees later, very recommended!
Interesting place for online shopping for Japanese collectibles. But shipping price a little bit pricey for fedex to Malaysia.
Reading Aiden's experience that was posted a few weeks ago below, I am disappointed but not surprised to see that we had a very similar experience dealing with From Japan's support. Their dismissiveness, unwillingness to help, and inability to take any accountability definitely rings true after my experience. I shipped a large and heavy package that cost about $130 USD (not including the cost of the items themselves and the service fees) which contained, among other merchandise, non-alcoholic beverages and hard candy. I have used From Japan several times in the past without issue, including one time when I shipped non-alcoholic beverages through UPS instead of FedEx, but I am assuming I just got lucky or they submitted the appropriate documents that time as this is not likely a carrier specific issue since they must all go through customs. My package arrived at US Customs several days ago but it has been stuck there ever since. I contacted FedEx to see what the issue was, and I was asked to provide a Prior Notice Confirmation document as the FDA requires that to clear food and drink items. I contacted From Japan support and a day later, all they were able to provide me was the port of entry code and the estimated date and time of arrival, no document. I contacted FedEx again and was told that I must provide this document for my package to clear customs. I contacted From Japan Support again and a day later, this is the reply I received. “Regarding the information needed by FedEx, the message we sent was all we were informed about so we recommend inquiring directly with FedEx to clarify the situation.” I once again contacted FedEx the next morning and was told that the shipper/importer would be the one that fills this out. I asked if there is any way I can fill out this document myself to just speed the process up and they told me no, the form requires you logging into the FDA website which only businesses can create an account for. It also requires knowledge on how to enter the correct FDA product code and information for each item. I relayed this to From Japan support and this is the reply I received. “We are sorry to hear that your parcel couldn't be cleared yet. While indeed in our experience an FDA Prior Notice is sometimes requested to import foods and beverages in the US, we regret confirming that this is not a document that we can provide. The FDA needs to be submitted by the importer, In case you are not able to do so, as you have mentioned, it is likely the shipments can only be disposed of or returned to us at your expenses. If the food-related items only cannot be disposed locally, we can have the parcel returned to us and dispose of them once the shipment has gotten back to our warehouse, and reship the rest to you. We hope in your kind understanding however that all expenses will have to be covered by you (reshipping fees, return fees and disposal fees if any).” So not only are they unwilling to help with something that FedEx has stated to me twice now that it is their responsibility (they ARE the importer despite dismissing that fact) to ensure that the package clears customs. But if my package just isn’t outright disposed of by US customs, not only will they not refund me, if it is returned to them they will charge me for the disposal fees for the items they couldn’t submit proper documentation for clearing customs, and make me pay for the shipping AGAIN?! How is that fair in any sense of the word? They outright refuse to take any sort of accountability for their own mistake and inaction, and have the audacity to charge me for it if it gets sent back to them. That is their "support" they claim to be providing me. I have never seen a company refuse accountability quite like this before, it's almost impressive if it wasn't ridiculously unprofessional. If I don’t get a different resolution from their support, I will be initiating a CHARGEBACK on ALL purchases in this shipment, both for the items and shipping, reporting them to the FTC, and never using this company ever again. Hopefully by leaving a review here, someone else in the company who isn’t already answering my emails will be more willing to help. I am open to a more fair resolution. But as of right now, I wouldn’t wish this horror story on anyone and would implore any prospective customer to look somewhere else first.
Just switched to From Japan from Buyee. Wow, so much better. Very careful package handling and prompt consolidation service. Easy to use site, and fast processing. Clear fee structure. Wish I had moved across years earlier.
I always have a fantastic experience with FromJapan! Have used it for many years now, the process ie smooth, fast, and hassle-free. They handle my purchase efficiently, provided great communication, and deliver exactly as promised. Highly recommend for anyone needing a reliable proxy service!
I am truly impressed at how professional and easy to use One Map FROM JAPAN is. I can buy from a site like Yahoo Japan, they will store the item in their warehouse for over a month. You choose which delivery service will be paid for. Choose your favorite courier. If the item is no longer available or unable to purchase the customer support is very prompt. I received notice within 2-3 days of the initial purchase. Offering that I can cancel the order or wait longer in hopes the purchase goes through. They refund instantly but the transfer takes some time maybe a week. Knowing this is how the platform operates I wouldn’t hesitate in using their service again.
Used once to buy second-hand Japanese clothing brands and send to the UK. Back again as the experience has been excellent so far. What could have been an incredibly slow, painful & error-prone experience has, instead, been very straightforward: No doubt this company costs more than parcel carriers will charge directly, but I have found the total cost to be predictable, easy to understand and a fair price for the service I’m receiving.
Disclaimer: I have used FromJapan for over a year without issues. However, my experience took a drastic turn for the worse a month ago, and I feel compelled to warn others. I ordered a high-value figure and paid hundreds of dollars for EMS shipping, expecting secure packaging and insurance. However, the item arrived damaged due to inadequate packaging. When I reached out to customer service, they repeatedly insisted that I file a claim with USPS, despite me explaining multiple times that USPS does not allow recipients to initiate international claims—only the sender can. I even called my local post office, and they confirmed this. Despite this, the company continued to deflect responsibility, refusing to handle the claim properly through Japan Post. They dragged out the process by making me take extensive photos—including forcing me to retrieve the shipping box from the trash—only to offer me a pathetic 15% refund, claiming they needed a "reference page" that they never clearly explained. When I asked them to provide official proof from Japan Post stating that I, as the recipient, was responsible for the claim, they ignored my request. They also misrepresented the shipping insurance policy. I chose EMS Air over the cheaper Sea option because they assured me it was insured, yet when damage occurred, they refused to take proper action. After weeks of back-and-forth emails, they made it clear they wouldn’t offer a reasonable resolution. They wasted my time, refused to take responsibility, and left me no choice but to initiate a chargeback. This company does not care about its customers and will do everything possible to avoid compensating you fairly if something goes wrong. If you value your money, avoid this company at all costs. In the case you buy something expensive using their service and it breaks, you will find that their customer service is dismissive, unhelpful, and will make the claims process as frustrating as possible. I do not recommend using their services after my experience with them.
Amazing customer service and extremely helpful with every concern or question- especially with a very expensive item! Couldn’t ask for more🫣
Perfect. As instructed
Service had been extremely pleasant. The response time between me putting in a purchase, request for discount (mercari), response back, goes over my expectations, however, this is my first time using a proxy service so I don't have another comparable service to compare too, just from my expectations. It's been very easy to use and will continue to use as my proxy service for the time being.
I’ve ordered from this site multiple times now and I’ve always had a great experience! Customer service was quick to respond to my inquiries and my items were all shipped promptly once they arrived at thier warehouse. 10/10
Using them for maybe like a year. I had good experience. Although they have raised now their fees from 300 to 500 yen, I guess I will stay customer as they do have good services. They do package all the items safe. I only had once a little crushed poster which was upsetting, but this can happen when a different item gets somehow on to it. They do wrap things seperatley, then use a cardboard to pin all items down with a shring wrap. That should avoid all items to move around in the shipping box. I do not like the higher fees now and they do cost me a lot, but think of that there are people there helping foreigners getting their shopping done in Japan and they do all the work for us and the packaging cannot be for free and nor the working hours, right? So we should consider that too. It is good to have a responsible partner on hand. Thanks fromjapan. I am so far happy.
They help you to buy items that usually you could only buy been in japan, i have never have had a problem with any of my packeges, if you buy things frecuently you can make points of have discounts in your shopping items, i wish i could have find fj sooner, best option ever.
Not only was the shipping much higher than estimated on the DHL Japan website. But my payment for shipping with DHL ($138.33) reversed after I had already paid for it with PayPal Following this, I was charged a second time for the same item I had already paid for ($161.90) rather than the shipping amount with my 20% off discount code which I had applied ($138.33) I am waiting on a response from customer service, but honestly just not a great experience! Will go with ZenMarket or Buyee in future
I live close to Japan and since given my passport I can travel there visa-free with up to 90 days stay I spent over a year total in Osaka between 2011 and 2019 and not as a typical tourist, so I know what I'm talking about. I extensively used FromJapan since 2018. This is the only proxy service which provides similar experience to physically being in Japan. Fees remained low over the years and typically they are negligible comparing to the item value. The staff is professional and answers questions sufficiently. When I got into a bad motorcycle accident they were kind enough to keep the items beyond the prescribed holding period until I recovered enough to ship the purchased items. I used the service a lot with no problems at all.
So far extremely happy with one map but last 2 orders which met requirements to be sent as a small packet were wrongly packed in big boxes despite being just over 1 kg in weight and foldable jackets. This resulted in far higher postal fees. All previous jackets sent as small packets. Customer service not helpful either through misinterpretation of what I was saying or just don't care....in all other regards highly recommend.
I have been using their service for about 8 years now. Always have had a good experience buying items. Have spent more than a few thousand over that time. Only once did i have an issue and it was with a bid not going through. Cusomter service has worked with me on shipping requirements and adjustments, along with ensuring safe transport of more delicate items. I absolutely recommend them over other serivces.
