Just returned from a 2 week holiday in Kos, Greece, We have been to the same part of the island for the past 18 years and know our way round very well -but we were surprised at the fact we didn't see any Olympic reps at the hotel at all whereas the other 3 tour operators that used the same hotel had their reps there at least once a week The only contact I had was via Whatzap and this was because I gave up trying to use the App as I wanted to find out when I was being picked up from the hotel. Ask yourself this – what if this was your first time going to Greece or you were an older person with no access to an app or whatzap and you had a problem you would be stuck – the only bonus for us was the lack of welcome meeting where they try and sell you the overpriced trips. We were collected and delivered to the airport by a minibus with the drivers on both occasions talking on their mobile phones as we went round the windy mountain roads which we found a little unsettling When we were welcomed at the hotel by the night watchman who spoke to us via a phone app using google translator. We know how to get around on Kos but Olympic need to consider those that don’t – very disappointed with the experience
We firstly would like to thank Yara from Olympic holidays for all her help in ensuring our holiday was as enjoyable as possible despite the arrival of the worst storm in Greece’s recent history. We were due to move to the mainland from Skiathos but this had to be cancelled due to severe flooding in the area. Yara arranged for us to stay in our accommodation on Skiathos for the duration. Just to keep things interesting we accidentally got off our ferry on Skopelos instead of Alonissos and again Yara came to our rescue with details of a later boat to get us to our destination! We appreciated Yara’s sense of humour and professionalism in keeping our holiday on track!
Brilliant time in Greece, 3 days in Athens, 7 in the Miramare on Crete, staff here were excellent and helpful particular mentions for Manolito, Natali and Sophia. Joanne the Olympic rep on Crete really helpful and stayed in touch throughout our stay. 4 days in Santorini at the On the Rocks hotel in Fira, excellent room with amazing views from the balcony, friendly very helpful staff thank you for a great stay.
Gavin was really helpful and our booking was easy to do. Michelle had explained the system when we booked this years holiday so we did not need much instruction. Glad to be going with Olympic again, most of our holidays are with Olympic, but regret the decline of the regular rep visit.
Ended up in Hospital on Zante, after what was a 50/50 chance of life or death. I would to say a Big Thank You to Amanda, the Olympic Holidays representative, I really don't know how we would have managed without her help and guidance, from the 5 days in the Zante hospital before being moved to a bigger hospital on the mainland, Patras, from start to finish for the 13 days I was in hospital, Amanda was on the ball, from sorting Taxi's, accommodations, the British Embassy, her help with the doctors our insurance. When leaving hospital at Patras Amanda had sorted out a Taxi to take us to Kyllini and a Hotel to book for the night to get the early morning ferry to Zante, then sorted a room at the hotel we was staying at, for the day till it was time to go to the airport in the evening. Again a Big Big Thank You to Amanda, you are a Star
My parents have just come home from Zante, what must be the 10th or so stay with Olympic. My dad fell very poorly whilst over there and honestly I don’t think we would’ve received the outcome or the care we did without support and guidance from Amanda (Olympic rep manager). Such a wonderful woman who was able to help my family and restore some faith in what was a massive culture shock. Always travelled with Olympic and never foreseen any issues only great positives and holidays to remember (although this one wasn’t for its usual reasons) :)
Decided to book on the phone, so requested a call back which was received within a minute. Shelley was super helpful and friendly. Booking was tremendously smooth. Thank you!
I have just returned from a fabulous Greek island hopping holiday with Olympic Holidays which was made extra special by their excellent holiday representative, Olivia Dimitrakopoulos who excelled any previous experience I’ve had of a holiday reps. She attended to every question I had, replying promptly and courteously and in detail, even when under huge pressures of dealing with possible holiday arrangements + striking ferry companies + a heavy workload. She was always caring and enabling, going to great lengths to ensure that my holiday was perfect in every way despite a huge, demanding clientele and workload. Her professionalism and personal relatedness was unsurpassed in my long experience of holiday representatives. She more than deserves recognition of her skills.
We were very lucky with the choice of accommodation. The Panorama Fanari apartments in Agrostoli Kefalonia, the staff, were most welcoming, helpful and friendly. The second destination was Hotel Nostos in Frikes Ithaca, again we we had a friendly welcome the accommodation was very good . We also had excellent service from Les the island rep. He answered all our varied requests and kept us informed about our travel arrangements.
Amanda the Rep for zante is great, easy to get in contact with and helps out with anything she can. She really helped my family out on their trip when my dad ended up in hospital. Would highly recommend
We island hopped Syros, Tinos and Andros, the hotels and rooms were great as were the connections on the ferris and pick-ups. There was a weather hiccup at the end of the holiday resulting in the ferries not running on the day we had to leave - Olivia the rep was great she got everything sorted in terms of new ferries, hotel, connections and flight changes and stayed in contact with regular updates.
It's only when you experience problems on a holiday that you fully appreciate the benefits of your tour operator. When our ferry from Andros was cancelled (which meant missing flights too), Olympic Holidays were excellent in resolving the knock on issues that followed. Rearrangements were efficiently made reflecting our needs with very good and prompt communications. We would particularly like to thank Olivia Dimitrakopoulos for her hard work. The hotels: Novus City Hotel, Athens, was ok but tired, needing an uplift. The city location was good and the service friendly. Micra Anglia .B. Hotel, Andros, was excellent in all regards. Would highly recommend. Mytro Hotel, Rafina, was poor, both rooms and breakfast. This was a substitute hotel for the Micra Anglia which we had paid for in our original holiday arrangements, the one blemish on the Olympic Holiday package. Transfers: All successful although a slight hiccup at Lavrio as initially we could not find the driver. Overall we would recommend Olympic Holidays, they ensured we had a enjoyable and successful holiday.
Just returned from Andros Olivia was very professional and quick in rebooking ferries and taxis for our return following problems with strikes and entangled anchors !! Also she understood my sense of humour which is amazing Many thanks for an amazing holiday too !! 5 star service !!
Olympic Holidays were quick to respond to queries, information provided was clear and easy to follow. We stayed at The Eden Hotel, Puerto de Soller - the food was great. We paid extra for sea view balcony but no shade was provided and we were not able to sit outside. The sofa bed was really grubby, and the bathroom felt tired and again grubby. It did not reflect the price. Staff on the roof terrace bar were feeding nuts to the pigeons and we witnessed one pigeon peeing into the nuts being taken to guests. Overall Olympic great, hotel food great, hotel staff friendly and hard working, hotel room cleanliness average to poor. Location brilliant.
Very pleasant, professional and knowledgable lady was very impressed with the service from Michelle Underhill
The lady who took our call, DORA MESSIOU, couldn't have been more helpful. She was very attentive to our request and we were pleased withteh result
Avra self catering apartments have always been very basic, but the beach location has more than made up for it, this year however took basic to another level! The cleaning was almost non existent with excessive sand building up on the floors, shower room grubby and balcony floor only swept once in a 2 week holiday with rat droppings evident. The kettle as usual doesn’t reach a plug and there are no drawers or wardrobe for 2nd room. The shower curtain doesn’t fit and sticks to every part of your body. This is usual for Avra but after 25 years you’d think there would be some improvements! The holiday this year was so much noisier with multiple weddings and parties in the beach tavernas, not sure I can stand another Grease medley ! The weather was superb, the beach amazing with great walks, will I be back - yes of course but come on Avra, improvements are well overdue !
We did a 10 day island hopping holiday: Corfu - Lefkada - Kefallonia. In hindsight, we probably should have just done a couple of islands as it was very exhausting trying to make the most of what each island had to offer (not to mention the long taxi transfers from each ferry port to our hotels, which on Greek roads can make you feel a little sick after a while). We did 3 islands in 10 days as recommended by the lonely planet guide, but would have been useful to have been advised by Olympic the reality of fitting in 3 Islands at point of booking. As our first package holiday, we were very impressed with the efficiency of our ferry/taxi transfers included, which were always on time, and our useful welcome packs at each hotel waiting for us. We were very disappointed with our first apartment, anemona apartments, in sidari corfu. This apartment was situated too far away from where we wanted to explore (the Old Town), perhaps we should have checked this ourselves when booking, but it meant a long hour+ transfer journey from arrival at midnight to the hotel, which was not ideal and would have been good to know beforehand. When we arrived I noticed the towels were dirty, as was my bedside table. The shower holder was also broken. So not a great start! I tried to resolve these in the morning, but did not feel like the staff cared and was advised to contact the Olympic rep, who would then contact the owners directly. The shower was fixed and new towels were provided but we had also requested extra pillows and an iron which we never received... the room was riddled with mosquitos due to holes in the mosquito nets, so we came away with many bites. The hotel staff were very loud at the poolside every night after midnight, so hard to get a quiet night's sleep. We particularly loved our second place, the luxurious Ionian Blue Hotel in Lefkada, with a peaceful pool overlooking the stunning ionain sea! Would love to stay there again. And we were also delighted with our last apartment in Kefallonia, Pitas Studios, maintained well by friendly Roza, air conditioned, clean, and in a quiet spot in skala. I would like to give special thanks to Les, our Kefallonia rep, for his helpful communication and island advice. He really looked after us. Last point I would like to make would be that some more advice at point of booking into the location of the hotels would be appreciated. All our hotels seemed to be at least a good hours' bus ride away from the towns, and transport is not frequent on the islands so it made it hard to get around. One day in Kefallonia, we were so desperate to go exploring we ended up paying over €100 for a taxi into Argostoli as there were only 2 buses departing from skala each day and all cars had been hired in the town. The next day we managed to hire a car as it was impossible otherwise to explore the island - but this was an extra expense we were unprepared for. We would have preferred to have paid an extra €100 for a more central hotel instead.
