We are new to HS Direct but the positive feedback I have received from Managers using 1st for Safety documents has been non-stop. The system is very easy to navigate and use and all of our teething issues were resolved quickly. I have no doubt that as we use the applications more and become more familiar with them it will increase the excellent feedback the full package deserves. Have used hs direct before for chas/constructionline accreditation, so returned to renew a year later. Was quoted a price to repeat the process, after the chas was done my account manager said i needed to pay another fee (double the amount i had already paid up front) to renew the constructionline accreditation when i explained i had already negotiated a deal with my previous account manager he dismissed this agreement and pulled shutters down. i email the previous account manager and asked her to support me, she never replied, no one cares, ive been lied to and mugged off. my fault. moral of the story? when people talk with a forked tongue, get it down in writing regardless of how busy you are. what a tragedy.

I completed RAMs and wasn't very confident in what i had done. I contacted HSE helpdesk and someone soon came back to help. He was very helpful knowledgeable told me the specific areas where my errors where and explained why certain elements I had inserted where not required. Some I needed and hadn't added. So not only do they help you correct your documents but you learn as you go along. Great Service and great team especially SB.

We have been a member of HS direct for quite a few years and can only express how grateful i am for all their valued support throughout the time of been a member. I would also like to add that both HS Direct and EL Direct staff have been very supportive throughout this very difficult time of COVID in giving advice and guidance continuously, a member of staff has always been available via telephone to discuss any matters, or queries. We wanted to make sure as a company that we had all the Health and Safety information and procedures in place. HS Direct staff certainly put us on the right track, and give us knowledge to ensure procedures where in place. All the staff are very supportive and have exceptional knowledge on all Health and Safety information. Each time i contact HS Direct, you always get a member of staff on the telephone that will answer your call and direct you to the appropriate person to speak too. I'm a bricklayer and a few years ago I decided that I would get involved with the new build sketch after years of taking on private work. The first thing I had to get my head around was sorting out and providing risk assesments, method statements etc. Now there's a huge market for these out there and it can be a bit of a minefield finding what you're looking for. I happened upon HS Direct and was surprised by the broad range of services they offered. You can purchase generic forms from the website that cover pretty much anything you are likely to require at a fantastic price. Manual handling, working at height, confined spaces etc. You just buy and download and put your own details in there on your own headed stationary. Recently, I took on my first apprentice and needed support in writing a contract of employment and having insurance as back up, again a potential minefield. EL Direct gave me the option of length of contract whereas their competitor was apparently inflexible. The competitor wanted most of the funding I received from the CITB to make that happen over three years. I was having a rough ride, eventually I thought of HS Direct. They put me in touch with their sister company, EL Direct, and we started the ball rolling. I can honestly say that I felt a weight lifted from my shoulders. A couple of phone calls discussing my requirements and legal obligations and a draft copy arrived for my attention. Absolutely spot on, and only a couple of minutes phone call for refinement before accepting. These guys have put me on another level. Everything I have ever given to principal contractors that HS direct and EL Direct have provided has never been queried. I'm currently working on a ten house new build and last week they had an audit from their own HSE consultant, they're good at what they do and can be quite brutal at times. I wasn't on site at the time of the visit but the project manager told me that he said all of my CDMs and RAMs were exemplary. I got a nice warm fuzzy feeling from that. The times I've spoken directly with HS and EL Direct, I have always found them to be very down to earth with an intrinsic awareness to my requirements. I think they know that they're good at this stuff and they can help people at all levels, whether you're a principal contractor or a sub-contractor, they will have your back.
