INCORRECT INFORMATION GIVEN. Before I purchased my vehicle I bought a hpi check via the website as the car i was purchasing did not come with the v5. The report stated it only had 1 previous owner on the car. With this information i went ahed and made my purchase of the vehicle. I then applied for the v5 using the v888 form and shortly recived the v5 in my name only having to find out the the car has 4 owners. I was given incorrect information from HPI check.com and due to this i am at a financial loss as the car which i purchase is only 3 years old and already has 4 owners meaning that if i were to resell it, the new owner will be the 5th owner. I contacted hpicheck.com and they simply said they are sorry for the incorrect information and said they will give me 1 free hpi check for the future. Very inconsiderate as it has reduced the value of the vehicle considerably and will be very difficult for me to sell in the future. If i had known i will be the 4th owner i would have not made this purchase and would definantly not paid the price which i did. I spoke with matyn simpson and he referred me to the sales manager. I then sent 2 more emails to take this matter further however no responce what so ever. Very unprofessional from such a large organisation and simply do not keep there promises. They say they have a data gurantee of £30000 and they simply said they cannot compensate me for my loss. Im not expecting a ridiculous amount and did not even come to compensation matters but they did not even bother replying back to my emails. Will definantly be taking this further by all means if nothing is done. Extreamly dissapointed and will never use this service again. Why lie to consumers and gurantee data when you simply cannot do this.

A very thorough and detailed check. Armed with accurate information, it helped me keep the negotiating to a fair and reasonable price. Without the check I could have been hoodwinked into agreeing a higher price. The check could have been improved by including a safety recall check, instead of offering that service afterwards at a small additional cost. I cannot compare to other checks that do checks as I have not used any. I did consider using Autotrader, which was slightly cheaper but the fact that their website states that their checks are powered by Experian put me off. I've been put off having anything to do with Experian since they had that catastrophic data leak the other year. Also, HPI has a longstanding reputation.

A really simple way of reassuring yourself that the car you are buying is 'straight'. The details my report threw up, meant that I could clear up a few issues with the dealer ahead of buying the balance on the vehicle. And it also prompted me to get an independent vehicle inspection carried out. I would definitely use again when purchasing a used car.

Excellent service I had arranged to buy a car and I had even sorted out a hire car for the day to travel all the to Birmingham from the Isle of Wight and found out through the HPI check that the vehicle That I wanted to purchase had been writen off as a total loss plus it had outstanding finance If I did not use this service I would have lost out on over £6000 Very happy with this service and I would recommend it to anyone
