Due to a mistake by an insurance company my car was classed as scrapped. The MIAFTA database has been updated in June 2019 and the DVLA have confirmed that the car is clear, Now 5 months on (Nov 19) and HPI Check still have incorrect information. All of these HPI checks are a con.

Called to inform this company that the information held on a car in my family, ( persuant to an Hpi check) was incorrect, and may effect the ability to sell it. Told it would be looked into. When I asked for contact confirming when rectified, or a reference for the call, told that unless I was purchasing a check, they could not oblige. Very unhelpful from a Customers point of view

Just awful, information in report was wrong and customer service was none excitant. Paid £19.99 for a report that flagged up mileage discrepancy, advised not to buy on their findings. After a quick check on the DVLA website found their findings to be wrong. When reporting this they just blamed it on getting their data from third parties. Nothing to do with them. They state on their website that the data they supply is accurate and up to date. When asking for a refund told I wasn’t entitled to one as it was not them it was the fault of the third parties that supply their data. Basically their money back guarantee is worthless, reports are wrong and their customer service agents are rude and unhelpful. Worst company I’ve had to deal with for awhile.

I bought a bmw 4 Series and did a HPI Check first- the result said there was no outstanding finance on the car. After I had bought the car it went into the main dealer for some recall work and they informed me there was outstanding finance on the car. I was worried so I did another vehicle check with RAC who guarantee there results up to £30,000. The RAC results showed that there was indeed finance outstanding. Now I have the hassle of sorting this out and potentially losing my new car and my money. When you read the terms and conditions HPI they take no responsibility for inaccurate or missing information.

Did a check showed mileage issue dealer sorted with HPI was then sent a revised updated report which showed issue has been sorted Sarah dealt with both calls and was most efficient. Roger Rowlett

I was on my was to buy a used BMW M3, so I thought to run a HPI check before buying, so I did it and was all clear, 6 months later I got into a huge accident were the car lost control on a place were it shouldn't, then I found out the car was a Cat B (major accident) few months before I bought it and it shouldn't been on the road, so I contacted HPI as they did say they guarantee full money back, so they refused to pay me the money back, because car wasn't insured on my name, and they think I bought it for to trade etc, which didn't make any sense apart from having to deal with people that they were hired to con people by saying the claim wasn't successful. obviously, the only option was is to hire a lawyer which I couldn't afford after the losses I had. I just found such an unfair for such a big company to make money in such away. I never used them and never will again, don't believe all those fake adverts they put up.
