Funny how quick they can change the details after a poor review, then telling me to up their rating as potential buyers were using a different site. Well, I was the one who checked on the hpi site and it was the wrong colour. I have now sold it but lost at least £600 of the value. So thank you very much for that hpi. i have a sought after motorcycle which im selling, so everything has to be spot on.HPI check have the wrong colour on it which does not even match the dvla details telling me this a mickey mouse company. i have contacted them twice to update their details but no answer and in the process have lost two potential buyers.
Slightly surprised that previous owners weren't listed, but guess that's due to current Data Protection laws? Otherwise very comprehensive...
I can't recommend this service highly enough! I used to think that I could trust my own judgement when buying a car, whether on the condition of the vehicle or the nature of the seller. Based on that I also used to think why would I fork out a tenner to do a check on something. It'll all be okay! Erm...sadly, that is no longer the case. There can be so many hidden problems when buying a used car. Plus the seller may be genuinely oblivious to the fact their car may have outstanding finance on it or it's been written off in the past. In this past two weeks alone checking on two cars for sale on E-bay and another on Gumtree, the initial outlay of £30 has saved me potentially thousands of pounds and a whole load of hassle. I'll never buy another car without doing an HPI check. It's the best investment on any car you're thinking of purchasing. Better still, if there is something you're unsure about in the report, you can call up to discuss things with one of the team. On each of the three occasions I've called up, I've spoken to someone who is knowledgeable, friendly and extremely helpful. Truly excellent!
Within minutes I had the information I needed to make an informed decision and at a fair cost. I would certainly recommend any future buyer to use this service!
Gives you confidence when buying a car
Thank you HPI you saved me from a very big hole in my bank account ,I was going to buy a motorcycle but only got the reg 15 hrs before I was to collect it in person so I used your checking system and it showed it had been a write off and mileage had discrepancy so never bought the motorcycle.
I wanted to list a vehicle on Gumtree which relies on the HPI Check API for assessement. HPI indicated to GumTree that the vehicle is either: Stolen, Exported, Scrapped or Category A/B insurance. None of the above cases applies/is true, but this makes it impossible to post the vehicle on GumTree. I have been calling HPI customer support and they want to me to pay for their check in order to see what is wrong. I think this is very unprofessional.
SIMPLE AND QUICK REASSURANCE
Nearly perfect! Some details about the vehicle are not correct. One example was the car was coming up as 5 speed manual when in fact it is a 6 speed manual. This makes me wonder what other information is incorrect about my vehicle.
Report was purchased and provided quickly on line. Report stated 1 previous owner ,but after purchasing the car and on receipt of logbook from dvla ,found that there had been 2 prior to myself. HPI stated it was a failure on DVLAs part ,DVLA stating it's HPI s fault and they should make sure that the info they are providing is correct. No refund or compensation offered by hpi . Very disappointed and cannot recommend this provider.
Was about to commit to a 400 mile round trip to purchase a car id seen on autotrader, HPI'd beforehand, glad i did, found a world of sin. Thanks HPI!

The report they provided was wrong -for both being written off/crashed and for Outstanding Finance. They have refused to offer any compensation despite now admitting their errors. I have lost a great deal of money because of their HPI report. Avoid them - an expensive waste of money and they have no interest in compensating people for THEIR mistakes. I wrote to their Customer Services who admitted they provided incorrect info on the vehicle and offered me no compensation. I thought this was unacceptable and what about their guarantee? So I wrote to their CEO about this and after much chasing received a letter after they had "investigated". HPI admitted they gave the wrong info about being written off AND outstanding finance and then offered absolutely NO compensation for my loss. My experience is they give out the wrong information about the vehicle and when you are then out of pocket - they do not want to know, help or compensate you. They asked me to contact them after my review and weeks have passed after I emailed them and no response - so further reasons to avoid them.
