Easy to order, delivered as planned, perfectly packed. The menu cards were very nicely laid out but for my old eyes the smallest fonts were too small. The preparation time took me a bit longer due to it being a new recipe to me. The food was sufficient for two (as ordered) and turned out as described. The cost included delivery so no surprises.

We had a few difficulties with the cookalong. We had purchased the meal for four but the chef went at the pace of cooking for two. It wasn’t a good dish to make in this respect, our thicker piece of meat needed much more battering and the cooking of it, which had to be done in small batches took twice as long. We had difficulty keeping up, listening in and just felt frazzled. The chef did ask a few times if people were keeping up but it didn’t feel right to slow down the experience for everyone else, plus with mikes on mute and no free hands to type it wasn’t easy to chip in. We probably didn’t battered the meat enough and it was chewy - so the resulting meal wasn’t even worth it really. We felt we had paid double getting the meal for 4 but received half the experience as the cookalong moved at a pace for those cooking for two. In most dishes this wouldn’t make much of a difference but in this dish it did.

Delicious. I received a voucher as a gift. The ingredients arrived very well packaged, the instructions were clear, and the food - and there was a lot of it - was superb.

Great and yummy kit that was delivered on time. It is a cook from scratch kit rather than a heat up at home ready prepared one, wasn’t totally clear to me from the description online. Instructions clear and easy to cook.

Food was extremely well packed and tasted lovely, tho prep took ages. Only criticism would be that there was too strong a flavour of vinegar.

What a lovely meal , took a bit of preparation, but well worth the time spent .

We ordered the BBQ box for 4 at £98 and were disappointed. It took 2 of us 2.5 hours to prepare. The steak was inedible (despite the cooking instructions being followed) and we ended up discarding the cheesecake as it was too creamy. We used correct quantities as per the recipe card. The black garlic mayonnaise was good, as was the courgette and asparagus salad and the prawns so it was a shame about the main course and pudding. We regularly buy “ready to cook” food from Simon Rogan at home, Ambassador’s General Store, Dishpatch and others and we are decent cooks but this was disappointing. We shared our feedback with The Cookaway and the gist of their response was that there’s nothing wrong with their ingredients so it must have been our equipment or techniques but they hope we’ll try them again. We won’t!

Delivered on time, enjoyed preparing it and it tasted delicious - according to my daughter. I bought it as a birthday present for her and partner. Allowing for one off deliveries is a big plus if buying as a gift, please keep this option. Buying an experience such as this is better for the environment than buying a present that is never going to be used. Thank-you.

Quality ingredients and prompt delivery

My wife, having attended school for a couple of years in Malaysia, is familiar with Laksa. Your version was disappointing in not providing the broader softer traditional noodles, which are far more suitable for a soup in being absorbent. Whilst appreciating that Western tastes might be averse to more spicy cooking we nevertheless found the dish somewhat tasteless. The reason for experimenting with your dishes was due to a £30 gift voucher from our daughter, to which we had to add a further £9 for a Laksa dish for two. Far too expensive when considering the amount of work we had to put in. Could have had a much better restaurant meal for less. Sorry, never again.

An excellent Chateaubriand with chips and salad. Great instructions easy to follow and excellent ingredients. Best steak we have had in a long while. Definitely recommend you try this for an anniversary or birthday. We both missed significant birthday dinners out due to Covid, this made up for it.

Unfortunately, this was disappointing. The ingredients weren't wrapped sufficiently so an egg had smashed and spilled over all other everything else in the box. The directions left out some steps, weren't very clear (particularly with portions of ingredients), and many of the ingredients were over/under-ripe so weren't ready for cooking that day. A real shame.

Really disappointed on flavour and texture on both recipes!! I wont use you again sorry but I'm quite a good cook and felt really annoyed that I took that time money and effort and myself and my partner were really disappointed.

A really lovely first Cookaway experience. Friendly, informative, good pace, good quality ingredients and the end product was delicious.

It’s a nice idea and we’re happy we tried it but it’s not really for us. We just felt it would have been easier and less faffy if we just started from scratch and followed recipes from a book. And we were a bit shocked by the seriously crazy amount of wasteful packaging. Probably a better idea for people who generally don’t cook than people like us who actually cook quite a lot. But always good to have tried!
