I took my van to the service department on Tuesday for the level 2 service £429 and then an MOT. I was told it had failed the MOT for two reasons. The front n/s repeater lamp and the rear brakes .I am extremely concerned that the issue with the brakes, which were dangerously worn was not flagged up in the so called level 2 service. If it hadn’t been for the MOT inspection I could have driven off believing the van was in a good freshly serviced condition and put myself and other road users in danger. I find it astonishing that checking the brakes does not fall within the remit of a full service. I asked if the brakes could be fixed there and then and was told the service department didn’t have the parts. This is a main dealership and we are talking about 2 brake pads. I had to drive the van to an alternate garage to have the brakes fixed. This now brings me onto the price. Wilson’s quoted £717 which even the man on reception said was high. I had the work done at Merit Tyres the next day for £130, so almost £600 cheaper. They also checked the repeater light and it was working ! A less serious point is that the service didn’t include checking the level of the adblue. This in fact I discovered later was extremely low. Which I believe could have caused my van to fail to start. A very expensive lesson learned Needless to say I will never get a vehicle serviced by Wilson’s again, nor will my wife . I urge others to avoid them. They overcharge and the work they do is substandard. You could have the same experience as me and be driving a dangerous vehicle without knowing it.
Having seen quite a few car salesmen over recent months, and even paying for reserves on a couple of cars that eventually fell through I finally met with Khalid at Wilsons Epsom branch. Khalid was straight to the point, full of information and facts. His product knowledge was 100% on point. Having said that there was something special about this guy. We kept him late one night even after closing time when later i heard he was supposed to be picking up some family members somewhere. He answered my text and calls even on his days off and in the evenings and at all times he was so patient, kind and gave you the feeling he actually enjoyed communicating with you. I know salesmen want to sell, I am a salesman myself and being the manager where I work I can say that Khalid is one highly employable individual. For the first time in months searching for what seemed like hundreds of cars I finally met someone that I genuinely felt like i wanted to do business with. That is a rare talent and so much appreciated in a world full of pushy salesmen. We now own a lovely car... Bottom line is this, In my proffesional opinion Khalid is a massive asset to Wilsons and if I need another salesman he will be head hunted by me. Great salesman, great guy and an amazing personality. Khalid made buyinmg a new car a lovely experience and I am glad to have met the guy.
