Precise quick and worth the peace of mind. I discovered the vehicle was a cat d total loss on the insurance. Although this was fully repaired under close inspection, and damage was only cosmetic I saved £1500 on the purchase price. Worth £15 of anyone's money for the peace of mind. I was also given pre damage photographs showing extent of insurance claim damage which were only a few scratches.
I performed a hpi check before buying a car from ebay. The car turned out to be a write off that had been repaired, the seller never mentioned this. Saved me a journey.

I found this site helpful, useful and economical for 3 checks, a good buy with 90 days to use purchase no rush!
Not the cheapest but good value. If you provide the VIN (chassis) number and the V5C (registration document) number you get a more thorough check and the fraud guard. Worth it for peace of mind ... even if buying from a dealer. Don't forget to check the VIN number in the V5C document matches the one on the actual car and that the latter does not show any signs of being tampered with.
As it happens, I had already purchased this car, so expected to see outstanding finance ! Other than that, everything checked out satisfactorily, which gives me peace of mind, especially as the vehicle has a very low mileage.
