I was admitted to an emergency in the USA in December 2022. Before I was admitted I called the insurance company to ensure I was covered, the woman I spoke with was very reassuring. At the hosptial I spoke with her again, gave the number for the insurance department there as requested to continue the discussions about my case. The following day I had an unexpected allergic reaction to the medication the hospital provided so I had to be admitted again I also called the insurance company prior to being admitted. There was even a follow up mail from her. Everything seemed to be ok. Fast forward it's now mid-April 2023, I shared all the hospital reports and medical bills months ago. I have sent multiple emails which go unanswered. The last one I received was from a month ago saying they have finally received the documents, it was now with a case officer, and that someone would be in touch later. I am now being chased in the USA for hospital payments and this situation is beyond stressful. I have no idea what to do here now except take this to the ombudsman.

I have used Globelink for travel insurance for several years, but I have never claimed so I can't comment on that. The wording relating to pre-existing medical conditions is as clear as mud. If you have conditions A and B, and both are on the "No-screen" list, but for condition A you have seen a specialist in the last 12 months, then according to one interpretation of the wording, they will refuse to honor your claim for medical expenses relating to condition B. If true, this would be a dishonest business practice, but I don't know if that's what they actually mean.

It was significantly cheaper than other travel insurance companies for my two month trip to Canada. There is an option for bare minimum cover, and my high cholesterol is included as standard. Its still a lot to pay though.

I was having difficulty with the forms but I was helped most effectively by the kind and patient staff. Thank you so much.

Where other companies fail, you succeed. You tailor the insurance policy to the customer and the customer gets exactly what they need.

Crystal recognised how stressed I was (my son and his partner's travel insurance had expired) and was so helpful and reassuring. It was especially good not to have to go through an automated phone system lasting several minutes and pressing endless numbers on the key pad before speaking to a human !!

It was straight forward to purchase and a reasonable product BUT 1 the already abroad insurance wouldnt allow me to put any start date except the day of purchase which meant I had to buy when travelling. Other companies allow the start date to be specified recognising some people away from their country of residence may not need insurance in the country they are in but only future countries 2 the cost was disproportionate. If the same insurer would sell me the same insurance for the same trip if still in my own country at a lower price, there is no logic in loading it simply because I have left my own country. There is already a 48 hour cooling off period and the actuarial risk of a claim should be identical.

Everything was ok until you make a claim. Make sure you fully read the conditions and every interpretation of every word. My claim of a water damaged camera was refused due to the 'Atmosphere'. Will never use again, an absolute con

My first experience with Globelink was fine. Easy to sign up. I then sustained an injury abroad and had to open a claim. The lady on the phone was absolutely lovely. Since then, it has been a disaster. They seem reluctant to progress anything and I have to call repeatedly for updates (which there never are!) Yesterday I spoke to a Globelink representative on the phone who said my documents had been shared weeks ago with a third party responsible for paying claims. I followed up directly with the third party who say they haven't receieved anything. I have had to share my documents at least 3 times. I have given my account details 2 times. I have had to share my policy with the third party directly. Every time I call they ask me to reshare everything. Seems emails get lost in their mailbox. The people on the phone seem strangely on top of things but as soon as you put the phone down there is silence again. Where is it going wrong? This is SO disapointing when the experience of making a claim due to injury is already so stressful. Please can someone contact me or escalate my claim and I will be happy to remove or update my review?

A terrible company who are only interested in taking your money. I have had to go through an Ombudsman to get my money back from them. I definitely would not recommend them and would take this opportunity to warn any potential customers that the service they offer is very poor. The company are only interested in getting your money with a poor after service.

I've just spent 5 months chasing up on a very straightforward claim without any dispute from Globelink / Collinson. In the end they paid up, but every step of the way it seemed that I needed to call them before any progress was made or to learn for the first time that they were waiting for information from me (even when I had already submitted it). Maybe they are really inefficient, or maybe they just hope that people will give up. Either way, I hope to find a better company next time, no matter how many positive reviews here about how easy it is to buy a policy from Globelink.

Awful claims service. Very easy to organise a policy however, I have been trying to make a claim because my flight was delayed. Firstly they tried to tell me I was not covered! When I read out the section to the claims handler she agreed to send me a claims form. Instead she sent me email asking for policy doc and lots of questions. This was 4 weeks ago and still no response to email. I have tried to call twice. Each time I was told they could not hear me, then they could not trace my policy number, then they cut me off. DO NOT USE THEM. Imagine if there had been a medical emergency!
