We got a fuel card for ease of use and convenience; having all our fuel receipts in one place. Unfortunately our experience of using this service is hit and miss in that our cards appear to randomly not work. Only this morning, at Tesco, my card was refused and alternative tender requested (there had been other several fuelgenie failures that morning). I know there was enough credit available on the account as I'd checked the night before. So I asked the pump attendant to phone up which they did only for them to get a recorded message saying that lines weren't open till 9am which brings me to another gripe the hours of the helpline are only open 9am-5/5:30pm (used to be an even earlier close). Given that I mainly fuel up out with these times, that isn't helpful. Fortunately I almost always have alternative tender. In the past I have phoned Fuelgenie quite a few times and have been told that there appeared to be nothing wrong with my card or their system, in fact not even a record of the refusal. I have also had a supposedly good card replaced which seemed to solve the problem temporally. Once I even filled out one of the inability to pay forms just to 'prove' that there was a problem (even though I did have alternative tender). There is no lifetime limit on my cards and each have access to the available balance on the account. In short when it works it's great but the service is unpredictable and makes our accounting that little bit more time consuming to sort out.

A good entry level card if you don't use a lot of fuel and you just need a bit for your staffs lawn mowers etc. Process of getting the card was super easy and free, with no costs at all! New cards can be created for free too! Only drawback is it doesn't work in a lot of petrol stations, only in main supermarkets, which is fine since there's still a lot of them around!

Useless customer service. There’s other fuel card providers out there with better rates and service. Avoid at all costs.

It would be helpful if you advised our credit limit and warned of an impending cut off. I had drivers refused card payments without waring or notice ! I shall be looking for another fuel supplier
