It’s unavoidable. A home warranty offers you a renewable service contract you can use to protect systems in your home such as heating, air conditioning, plumbing, and electrical, as well as major appliances like your dishwasher, oven, clothes washer/dryer, refrigerator, and more. With our home warranty protection, when a covered item breaks, we’ll send a pre-screened service contractor to your home to diagnose the issue. Many of our customers request service multiple times each year and save hundreds to thousands of dollars on repair and replacement costs. These types of mechanical failures are typically not covered by your homeowners insurance, so a home warranty can help bridge that gap in protection by shielding your budget from these sudden expenses. I had just reinstated the service I had previously and my old water heater finally needed to be replaced. A plumber was assigned and he was able to come out two days after I opened a service request on the phone. When the replacement was installed a few days later I was told I owed $700 for required codes for which I was unaware. FAHW did not make it clear to me that I was responsible for that amount because the details were not explained. After discussion and clarification I paid the plumber as required. Other than that the service was great.
This time everything was smooth and simple
When I called first of America to sign up the representative was very knowledgeable and friendly was very pleasant have not used the service yet
First American Home warranty sent me a form letter last week saying they would not renew my contract. No explanation. Attempts to get an explanation have failed. Maybe it was me asking for another vendor for my hot water heater when the one assigned cancelled at the last minute 4 times. Or inquiring as to why I had to pay $200 out of pocket for a comparable garage door opener. They said I would get the $200 back…still waiting. Or a plumber saying everything was OK with my gas supply when the gas company showed me that the internal regulator needed replacing. I guess vendors don’t like contradiction. Or maybe me pointing out when a customer service agent says they will call me back to check on me and they never do. It may have been the 5 requests I had this year (two pool and spa, one washer, one gas/hot water heater, and one ice maker). Perhaps they don’t like to cover what they promise without a negative effect on renewal. I don’t know because they won’t tell me a reason. So beware. Six years as a loyal customer doesn’t mean anything to this company. Everyone I have talked to (pool vendor, local rep, real estate agent who recommended them) are shocked at their action. I will find better and so can you.
They were really easy to work with.
. No more surveys
Fast response upon receiving my service request. Prompt service call.
Came back next day to finish the job.
The technician was polite, on time, and quickly identified the issue.
The microwave works again. This was the 3rd trip but the technician is trying hard to make lasting repairs. Everyone talked with has been professional and helpful.
the service was Ok, I ended up having to have a friend replace the entire faucet, because the faucet began leaking again, within the same day.
First American Home Warranty stands out as an exceptional choice for homeowners. Their response times are impressively fast, even when coordinating repairs in remote areas like San Angelo, where they dispatch reliable technicians from Abilene, 90 miles away, to fix critical systems like AC units. Unlike other providers, First American covers complex repairs, such as refrigerator compressors—a common failure point often excluded due to costly recovery gases. Having used four different home warranty companies, I can confidently say First American’s service is unmatched in reliability and coverage. If you’re with another provider, you may face disappointments down the road. Choose First American for peace of mind.
It was easy to contact First American Home Warranty and the technician we needed set up a prompt appointment. The only change I would make would be to get rid of the AI who doesn't let you explain thoroughly or give you any options. I like to speak with real people.
Excellent service. Well satisfied
Still waiting for refrigerator to be repaired. Hopefully the part will be her by Monday. Did not appreciate the first repairman trying to scam me by saying I had to pay his labor fee of $700- $1000. I have been without a refrigerator for 3 weeks
We have a hot water heater that was installed in our house in early 2010s, so everything is up to current code. It went out recently and we activated our FAHW policy, paid the $100 fee, and had their plumber come out to see if it needed repairing or replacing. He determined it needed to be replaced then went out to his truck and spoke with FAHW, who informed the contractor he needed to bill us $290 for "incidentals." Literally not one single pipe needs moving/updating/replacing; it should be a tank-for-tank swap. Even the plumber admitted he didn't know what the charge was for, just that FAHW had instructed him to charge us that much. No way. We pay $$$ every month for the warranty, essentially insurance for our appliances. We paid them their copay to replace the faulty water heater with no extra services, and that should be that. Now we're being held hostage until we up our ante to a total of $390. Home Depot sells the same size heater for $400, and that's before a 10% veterans discount or any sales. It seems like quite an unethical business model, scamming customers out of monthly payments, then the service fee, and the hundreds more dollars just to do what we could have done for less money from Home Depot. Obviously won't be renewing our policy and will let our homeowners association members know to avoid FAHW as well. Addendum, we have heard the tired excuse that the lines and venting need to be modified. They do not. The plan is to literally slide the old water heater out and attach the new one. Any soldering that needs to be done is a routine installation requirement and therefore should be covered under the installation provision in the plan. A water heater physically CANNOT be installed without unhooking and rehooking the hot and cold water lines and venting. That's the very definition if installation. This is akin to going to the hospital for an emergency appendectomy and the insurance covering the procedure itself, but charging me to cut open and close the skin with sutures. Kindly explain how it's not.
They prossed my claim fast and took care of my problems
We asked for a local service provider with whom we have had exceptional service on several occasions, and YOU sent him without second guessing us. Thank you for listening!
Bad experience. It's been two weeks that our air condition part needs to be replaced. Nobody is pushed. They have subcontracted to a company EMS services who doesn't give a damn about customers. It's been really hot in Texas and we are telling them again and again that we have kids and it's unbearable. But only thing they have is apologies. We give them money for apologies. Today after two weeks the technicians came after they told us they received the part. We saw after 10 minutes that he left and now they are telling us to reschedule. After two weeks of this weather the guy shows his face and disappears again. Wow. The whole day we are calling First American home warranty and the EMS. And they are throwing our calls on each other like a tennis ball. That's what the reps are skilled at. Technicians and efficiency is zero.
FAHW is so easy to work with, the only problem I have is with some of the venders. The venders for the wine fridge were put offish and it seemed to be a problem whenever I asked questions. Plus the vender office never called to give me updates. The only time I would get info on my fridge was by FAHW.
