Stay away! The sales people are great and everything sounded wonderful - until my dryer failed. I called immediately -- and it's going on two weeks and no repair. According to the contract, they just have to acknowledge your request for service within 48 hours, but they don't have to fix it our send a technician for up to a year, no kidding. I scheduled an appointment and took the day off (be there anytime between 8-5). No show, no phone call. I called and they just said to reschedule; no apology or explanation. I rescheduled. Again, a no show between 8-5. I called again. Now, they said that someone will call me two weeks after my original request for service. Just a phone call, not a repair. It's just a Frigidaire Clothes dryer. Nothing fancy. But if they ever fix it, it will be at least THREE WEEKS and hours of phone calls to try to get a repair. But, as I was told, they could take months if they want to -- look at the contract. They can literally take years if they want to.
Horrible referral companies Bad bad service from 2 referrals
This company is a false representation, my HVAC system starting not operating correctly in June of 2024, and they came up with every excuse not to replace here it is March of 2025, and they still have came up with every excuse not to replace unit and told me to find my own contractor, they denied my claim and reinstated my claim after they lied and gave false tepresentaion of my unit, fast forward today, they are putting all the cost on me to replace my unit, although I have the premium policy, this company has showed me that they are not who they advertised to be, this issue is almost going on a year and today they want to cash me out , with not even a fraction of the cost of the unit, so I am left with nothing the cost is on me to replace, it makes me sick too see such fabrications being advertised and people fall into the trap, I will not accept a cash out in the amount of 1,200, when the contractor told them to replace the Unit would be 8,000 with labor and all, this does nothing for me, I have had to endure the heat from the summer months and the cold from the winter months, this is unacceptable and I do not accept this and yet I have paid my policy faithfully each month
On January 28, I requested service from First American to fix a broken bath faucet-to-shower water diverter. A plumber comes out the following week and tells me he's going to replace the bathtub faucet. A month goes by. I don't hear back from him. I call the plumber on 2/25. The receptionist says the plumber will call me back. He doesn't. I reach out to the home warranty service, asking for a new contractor. On 3/7, the warranty company says the plumber just submitted the paperwork for the new part, so they won't reassign with a new contractor. I finally land an appointment for 3/11. The plumber has a 4-hour window to arrive but never shows. I'm only contacted AFTER the no-show. He claims he doesn't have the part. Mind you, it's a bathtub faucet that can be picked up at ANY hardware store. Also keep in mind that this saga started in JANUARY. I doubt it takes from January to mid-March to locate a bath faucet. First American Home Warranty still won't assign a new contractor. We set an appointment for 3/18. The plumber is, once again, a no-show. An hour after he doesn't arrive, the warranty company sends a message saying the plumber is "running late" but offers no estimated time of arrival. I'm apparently expected to stay home and hope that history won't repeat itself. We're now 3 hours AFTER the appointment window closed and no plumber, no update, nothing. This is the same home warranty service that let me go months and months without a functional washing machine after I first moved into my condo.
Awful company. It took weeks to get a service technician out to fix an appliance. They do not have an email address. A call to speak to representatives is placed on hold for an average of 10 minutes. I cancelled contract and did not renew, they continued to attempt to charge my credit card. Do not bother with, awful company.
The two service folks from Sear's were extremely professional and respectful. Identified the problem, ordered the part and fixed it. As far as First American Home Warranty extremely dissatisfied! Every time I have to file a claim it takes forever to get the service completed. I had to wait 21 days to get my refrigerator working.... Completely unacceptable! Quick to take my money monthly and the initial service call fee but having the service completed in reasonable timely manner does not happen. I had to spend two Saturdays at home waiting for this repair. My time is just as valuable as yours! You would think that First American Home Warranty would have followed up to see how the service process was going...but they did not! There is a great chance that I will not renew out contract.
I have been with FAHW for a few years now and each year the customer service has gotten worse progressively worse. Currently, I have been awaiting repair to my washing machine for since 04Feb2025 and today is 14Mar2025. According to FAHW the only contactor for my area (Southeast VA - Portsmouth) is Sears Home Services (SHS). Here is a timeline of how things have NOT progressed: 05Mar 25 - SHS emailed that FAHW assigned them to repair the washing machine. The appointment was scheduled for 17Feb25. 10Feb25 - SHS sent an email stating the repair appointment was rescheduled to 18Feb25 without any explanation. 18Feb25 - SHS sent an email at 0731hrs stating the technician was scheduled to arrive and that I could track the service updates (that did not work). At 1156 hrs. an email was sent to reschedule for 25Feb24. Again, no explanation for the NO SHOW After several fruitless calls to both AHW & SHS I realized there was something very wrong with both companies as they were each pointing the finger at the other. 25Feb25 - SHS tech arrives spends over an hour troubleshooting the washing machine, determined that several parts needed replacing, recommended that the machine be replaced. However, FAHW opted to replace all of the parts which cost over $700. The parts were shipped to my house, which they were and have been since. A return appointment was scheduled for 10March25 10Mar25 – SHS was a NO SHOW and rescheduled for 13Mar25 again, no real reason for the NO SHOW. I again contacted both FAHW and SHS. I was promised by FAHW that a Manager would call me within 24 hours. I am still waiting for that call. The repair was rescheduled for 13Mar25 by SHS with assurances that the repairs would take place on the 13th. 13Mar25 – SHS was again a NO SHOW despite the assurances that that would not be the case. I again, called them to no avail and was given assurances the repairs would be completed on 18Mar25. I have no faith in either of these companies. There is much more to this saga, but I will not give all of the details. I don’t know what else to do other than wait for repairs to be completed and to leave this very negative review of both of those companies.
First of all, my wife and I just bought and moved into this condo and the warranty was part of the purchase agreement. So, on Feb. 21st, 2025, We placed a service call through 1st American Home Warranty to fix a broken toilet flange. They took the $85.00 deductible right away and dispatched a plumber. The plumber showed up almost 2 weeks later, looked at the toilet issue and said the repairs would not be covered by the warranty and tried to make us pay him $2,000 to repair a broken flange. Part of the $2,000 he said was for jackhammering up 4 sq. feet of the concrete floor. I have since had 2 other plumbers quote this same broken flange and both said $400-$500 and no jackhammer needed. I called 1st American Home Warranty about their plumber's unnecessary upcharge for unneeded demolition of our bathroom floor. They would not accept the other plumbers' quotes and still refuse to pay for the repairs. 1st. American didn't hesitate to take the money for the yearly contract, nor did they hesitate to take the deductible but won't pay out. This company is just stealing money from all the people that take them at their word and trust that they will cover repairs but don't and just make excuses why they won't. 1st. American and their Plumber needs investigated for Fraud and Theft. I think I should be refunded my $85.00 deductible and $400 for having to pay out of pocket for the repairs. All they did for the $85.00 was call a plumber, I could have done that for free.
I made a claim on 02/28/25 for a leak in my wall. On 03/04/25 (five day's later) I get an email that stated-Based on this information, First American has determined that the Item failure is not covered under the Contract and is denying the claim. Coverage for this item is also now excluded under the Contract. This Item can be included under the Contract once the Item is in good, safe working order and reasonable confirmation has been provided to and accepted by First American. I had to get a plumber that I paid $533.00 to make the repair after it had leaked 5 more day's when I received the denial notice. This First American Warranty is a rip off. DON'T BUY IT. Signed Very Disappointed
I have been with First American Warranty since 2016. I have stopped using them as of October 2024. The card on file was no longer working and they left messages to inform that the account will lapse. Assuming they stopped taking payments since the card was not working at that time. They starting taking payments again. I am requesting for a refund from October 2024 till Feb 2025. The current last charge is pending and I am demanding a refund/cancellation and they are saying they cannot. This is RIDICULOUS. I have been pretty loyal being with them for ALMOST 10 YEARS and this is the type of customer service they provide? Absolutely RIDICULOUS! I am entitled to my refund since they said the account was going to lapse and how the card was not working. I did not check my statements to see the transactions that had processed after the fact the card was not working. Paid almost 9k throughout the years and this is the customer service they are providing. Further more, they use a call center. There is no one that is from their actual office. They outsource all the calls. Go figure! They don’t even have a legit office. If you look up the office, it is a virtual address hence why only a PO BOX is available to write to. HORRIBLE! IN YOUR RESPONSE: You have left voice messages letting me know that the account would lapse/cancelled. Hence why assumption is that the account was cancelled since payments did not go through.
Charged me $85x2 because two different rooms. Then contract states hinges and springs covered on garage door. However my door is old so refusing to cover those parts, give credit, reimburse service fees nothing! Three agents and a supervisor and NO ONE did anything but spew policy and couldn’t understand why I was upset and zero accountability to black and white covered items being denied. I’m terminal and ended up being treated on phone so bad I’m calling hospital about needing infusion to cover flare in now. $1800 additional for first aid cost. I am ready for action
The service man was on time and took a minimum ammount of time to complete the job. His age (older) also made his work more credible.
Very professional and classy. Had the paciente to go over the policy and to explain all details.
My last claim was regarding my oven. The problem was resolved. It took three visits due to having to ordet parts, but Hamlet from Apri Appliances did a great job as usual The dates Arpi arrived for servicing were Jan 27 2025, Feb 11 2025 and Feb 19 2035
I have not had good experience with first american home warranty. I have been a customer for approximately 3 years and have used them sparingly. Once or twice for kitchen sink tap change and they said the tap is special and is under exclusion. My garage door spring broke and was told that it is not covered. I have premier plan. Now I am having issues with my dishwasher. They have sent aurora appliance twice and the technician does nothing and reports back, no mechanical failure. I have opened the case for the third time, let’s see how it works out
Our washing machine broke on December 5 and I contacted the warranty company. They sent out Yota Home Services on December 9. The technician was very nice and polite and replaced some supports that cost about $100 and his service fee was $150 that First American paid after I paid the service fee of $95. Two days later the machine broke again. They had to order some parts so did not come out until December 26. The technician installed the same parts telling us the parts the first time were refurbished and these were new. This cost First American another $250. Again after a day or two the machine broke. They schedule the technician to come out January 22nd but cancelled because the technician was sick. The technician came out on January 28 and again replaced the same parts and again the machine broke 2 days later. The technician came out on February 5 and a few days later we were informed they had ordered more parts expecting these to be different parts. But no. Again they replaced the same parts and not surprisingly it broke again. The on February 13 they were scheduled to come out again but cancelled due to an issue with the part order. Today February 27 the technician came out again replaced the same parts, said everything was fine. And then my wife attempted the first load and the machine broke again. Clearly this is ridiculous and is costing First American way more than the $1,000 a new washing machine would cost. Lately I have not had good experiences with them at all. It has been since December 5th that we have had a working washing machine. I think perhaps First American was going to wear us out until we gave up and bought a new machine ourselves. But I am not. I paid monthly for warranty services and I expect them to honor their commitment. FINALLY, First American agreed to send a second contractor for another opinion. They found a pair of underwear had somehow gotten stuck which was causing the issue the entire time. So YOTA home services employees missed this. It has been working fine ever since then without any need to replace the same parts 4 times... I would give YOTA home services negative 100 stars if possible.
I am initially a fan and like First American but I am completely unhappy with the contractor HVAC of Ohio and the lack of competency in their diagnosis which caused me to have no heat in January-February for (4) weeks. I had to take matters into my own hands and call them to get parts initiated. They still did not order the correct parts or all parts that were needed since the contractor did a horrible job diagnosing the issue. It got to the point where First American is offering to buy space heaters to compensate for the lack of repair and time it takes (the space heaters cost more than the parts). The claim took (4) weeks and still didn’t get resolved and we are using the oven to provide heat in the kitchen. I found a competent HVAC contractor and got the job completed in 2 days. Now, First American wants to give me an insanely low ball cash out option since the job was not pre approved. How can it be pre approved and the incompetent contractor they sent mis-diagnosed the problem nor ordered the parts in the first place? Since the call center is in Guatemala they could care less that its sub zero temperatures in North America. This is a complete failure on the contractor and First American having the fortitude and understanding of how to resolve an issue vs. being a call center and pushing the issue down the line. So what happened during your review. Do you have an update. First American came through and made it right. Sharice(hope I spelled it right) really worked with me and took the time to review my claim and get the correct reimbursement headed our way. In a time when most companies don’t have empathy, this company came through. I can’t quite give them a five star but a 3.5 is deserved and Shanice made it a 4.
Garage Door opener stopped working, technician came and replacement of the motor was approved. Technician was supposed to come next day, did not show up, no communication. I called customer service and they offer a cash out option to be processed in 24hours. I get an offer for $10, that is right, ten dollars. I am not sure what can be done with ten dollars in this claim.
Spent $1200 on the Premier plan - all they do is Deny, Deny, Deny. They sent repair person out that claimed it was due to maintenance (it was NOT). I had to call company to fix technical issue that should have been covered, as we were in a freeze for 5 days. Cost was minimal with my HVAC and came out the day after to get resolved for less than $200..First American sent a second contractor out a week later and found no maintenance issue nor mechanical (which I had already had fixed)...DON'T GO WITH THIS COMPANY! THEY DENY, DENY, DENY ANY AND EVERY CLAIM! Extremely disappointed! I only asked for my $125 service call back as they misdiagnosed, and they have refused! Again, DON"T WASTE YOUR MONEY - YOU WILL NEVER GET A REPAIR! WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!!!!
I have been in the cold for 7 days . Imagine staying in a house with no heat in the middle of February. The use worst HVAC company that keeps delaying stuff or send technicians that are misdiagnosing the issue. When I call First American they said it wasn’t an emergency and can take up to 12 days . What’s the purpose of the warranty then if I have to stay in house with no heat in February for 12 days. I asked to call a contractor to get it fixed and have them reimbursed me they said no.
